I hate to give 3 stars because I honestly love this place. My husband land I love to have breakfast here on the weekends. The food has always been good. They have some great waitresses that have worked there for a while. The service is normally good, fast and friendly. It’s a well oiled machine.
I don’t know if it’s due to Covid but something has changed. We arrived yesterday at 10am. We were seated relatively quick. We sat at our table for 20 minutes before a waitress asked for our drink order. We sat for another 15 minutes while this same waitresses walked by our table multiple times. Finally I asked if our table had a waitress? She said yeah it’s me hold on. Another 10 minutes passed before she returned to take our food order. Our food was delivered in a timely manner and tasted delicious. Not once did she return to ask if we needed anything or would like refills. I finally flagged her down towards the end of the meal and asked for a refill as did my husband. She brought mine but never brought his. She dropped our ticket off but never returned to get our card. We waited for another 15/20 hoping someone anyone would take our money. Finally another waitress took the card and processed it and our waitress returned it.
I am so sick of rewarding horrible service just because it’s expected. It’s not called a TIP because it’s mandatory. Everyone can have a bad day. I get it. But she wasn’t busy. She acted like she was busy but she only had 3 tables she was waiting on. Those tables totaled 6 people. The restaurant wasn’t even full. There were multiple tables open and nobody was waiting to be seated. We left ZERO tip and I don’t feel bad about it in the least. I am done rewarding someone who’s service sucks.
Yes we will return. Like I said, our food was still delicious. I am hoping this was an isolated incident. But, like I said something happened because there was a lot of complaining amongst the wait staff. Of course they’re allowed to be upset over something. Yet Everytime I order here they mess it up somehow like last night I asked for jelly or cream cheese for a bagel plus I order waffles 2 slices of pie.and some sausage links for Lady my dog. Why do they not put whipped cream on my waffles like it advertised? And the waffle was soggy,why how is that possible. I hate to think this but I almost feel like they do this because I am homeless and the owner hates homeless.one time I went there got food to go same order waffles and it took 45 mins to the point I asked my friend who I sent in there to order because I was doing something else at the same time.i looked at her and said what's the deal ? First thing that came to mind was oh Lord she took my money and ditched me but to my surprise there she sat.i asked "what is the hold up" she just looked and shrugged. It has been 45 mins she was sitting there. I ask who has my order they say oh it's not done cooking yet? Ok 45 mins for waffles idk about all that I just want a refund. They refuse to refund my money yet less then 5 mins pass of me in there asking questions and what do ya know my waffles was ready in no time flat. See places like this make me feel like someone could be hateful enough to spit in my meal or worse and I feel very angry the more I think about it. Read moreEDIT My family and I went there for breakfast on 1/1/23 and, it was without a doubt the WORST experience in a restaurant we have EVER had! It started with waiting over half an hour for a table in a place that was only 2/3 full. The hostess was the ONLY pleasant part of the visit. This pains me to write because Beverly's WAS our favorite place to go for a casual Sunday family breakfast with our son for the last 10 years. After this we will be finding somewhere else to go. Once we were FINALLY taken to a BOOTH (I'm in a wheelchair 🤦) our server complete with earbuds in came and took our drink order. 10 MINUTES LATER she came and took our order. Mind you, she only had 4 TABLE other than us so there was no excuse for the SLOW service. About, 30-40 minutes later 3 meals came to our table. All of which were wrong, cold, or missing things. She took back one, brought back a replacement which was AGAIN wrong. My son's scrambled eggs were ORANGE, ALL of my food was cold, so much so that the gravy on my chicken fried steak had congealed and separated, the fried okra was inedible as were the mashed potatoes. We brought all this to the server's attention her response was "you have to pay for anything you touched" we told her we were not going to pay for anything because we didn't eat it. To which she yelled at us "then leave!" Gladly, we won't be back! And, I do recommend anyone else go there either. We will be going to a nice little place close to home called The Scissortail Diner on N. Portland.
