Let me start by saying this was my wifeâs and my 7-year anniversary. We come to Broadway 10 every year, and the last two times were amazing. This time... awful.
The food was amazing, no complaints there. But when it came to service and customer care, it was seriously lacking.
Our server, Adarian, either didnât know how to work in fine dining or just didnât care. Weâre pretty easygoing: check drinks, check food quality, bring bread. Simple stuff. Did our server do that? Barely. I had to request drink refills, and he didnât bring the bread until after we had already received our main course.
Throughout the night, it took 20 to 30 minutes between each time the server checked on us, if he even did at all.
Broadway 10 usually offers a complimentary dessert and a small framed photo for anniversaries. For the dessert, our server didnât mention it until we were already packing up. It felt like a last-minute effort to pad the bill for a tip. At the very least, we should have been told before paying for the dessert that one was complimentary.
As for the photo, we had our anniversary card sitting on the table the entire dinner. Not once did anyone, especially our server, ask if weâd like a photo taken. We ended up having to ask someone ourselves at the end of the meal.
I also ordered two alcoholic drinks. It took over 20 minutes just to get a beer and a mixed drink. Meanwhile, we watched other tables around us being served wine, getting attentive service, and enjoying friendly conversations with the same server.
Iâm not one to leave reviews or badmouth a place. My wife and I are pretty laid-back diners. But for $400, there needs to be a level of service, care, and consideration. Being ignored, poorly tended to, and given subpar service at a high-end restaurant is a slap in the face.
The worst part was at the end of the night, when our server came over and said, âSorry for the delay, I was really swamped.â But my wife and I watched him tend to four or five tables. He joked with them, chatted, brought drinks quickly, and gave them bread. They clearly received better service than we did.
I brought all of this to a managerâs attention before we left, and the only response I received was, âIâm sorry to hear that.â No attempt to make it right, no offer to salvage the experience. Whether or not it would have mattered, at least trying to fix the situation would have shown that someone cared.
Like I said, the food was great. But service like this ruins the entire experience, especially on a night that was supposed to be special. We chose to celebrate at Broadway 10, but due to one serverâs lack of attention and the overall drop in service, it really killed the atmosphere.
This may be the last time we dine here. If I wanted that level of service, Iâd go...
Read moreWe dined here for my wife's birthday and it was wonderful. Our server Rick (I hope that's right) was just the right balance of attentive and hands-off and we really appreciated it. We went in having reviewed the menu, which was helpful, but make sure you hear about the off-menu specials. We started with the steak tartare and French onion soup. They were both incredibly delicious. The tartare has a hint of spice heat that I loved. The soup had a soothing umami flavor and had just a little too much cheese for our tastes. That being said, too much is better than not enough. Our main courses were the Lobster Thermidor and the Chopped Beef Wellington with Gouda potatoes and mac and cheese. If you get a shot at the Thermidor, you should absolutely take it. It was the best I've ever had. My wife had the Wellington and enjoyed it for the most part. Her only complaint was its sauce, as she's not really a fan of wine and it is definitely pronounced. I thought it was delicious. She ate around it, and only finished half before she was full. It is a lot. My martinis were shaken, which is not my preference, but I was having such a good time and they were so well made that I never thought to even mention it. Dessert of a baby creme brulee, fired table-side, and chocolate cake was pretty incredible, despite us only eating a small amount because we were so full. The only thing neither of us enjoyed was the mac and cheese. It was just kind of "meh". My wife doesn't like seafood or I'd have ordered it with lobster added. I have no doubt that had we mentioned it, it would have been either taken off the check or replaced with something else, but we were already so completely stuffed and happy by that point that we didn't even bother. The entire experience, including the string quartet that does some pretty killer renditions of contemporary music, was an absolute joy. The portions were quite a good deal bigger than I expected and I didn't even make it halfway through everything that I wanted to try, so I guess another trip is in order soon. Steaks and...
Read moreBroadway 10 Bar & Chophouse definitely feels like the kind of place youâd take someone to impress, sleek branding, upscale vibe, and a price tag to match. That said, Iâd argue itâs a little overpriced for what you actually get. Expect to spend at least $100 per person just on entrees and sides, since the menu is entirely Ă la carte. Add in apps, drinks, or dessert and things climb quickly.
The restaurant is in a converted 1920s Buick dealership, which sounds cool in theory, and there is a very nice Buick on display by the bathrooms, but beyond that, the theme doesnât really carry through. Pair that with 2000s dance music bumping loudly overhead and it creates a bit of an identity crisis. The limited parking and a scenic view of the Nichols Energy Services parking lot across the street donât exactly scream âsophisticated chophouse fare,â either.
The service was absolutely incredible. Our servers kept drinks full, cleared plates quickly, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Seriously top-notch. That said, the sales pitch for the Wagyu Delmonico and Rock Lobster felt more like something out of a used car lot. And if you're going to offer Wagyu at a premium price, the menu really should specify whether it's A5 or not.
That said, the food had its high points. The steak was excellent, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The Bacon Mac & Cheese and the calamari were also standouts. The Butcher Meatballs had a great flavor but unfortunately a really off, undercooked texture. And while the Coconut Shrimp had a great crunch, the peanut sauce pairing just didnât work. A house-made marinara, a sweet chili, or even a solid ranch wouldâve made way more sense.
Overall, it's a mixed bag. If youâre going just for the steak and donât mind splurging, youâll probably leave happy. But if youâre looking for the full upscale dining experience the branding suggests, you might walk away wondering what exactly theyâre...
