We came here on a double date with some friends. The Hideaway was a bit busy but our server was very nice and polite. He took our drink order as we sat down and returned with them very quickly. We asked for some time to look over the menu as this was our first visit to the Hideaway. He returned a short time later and we ordered appetizers two of their 50/50 with ranch. Several minutes later he returned with dishes of hot and juicy mushrooms and mozzarella sticks. We ordered our pizzas at that time two ATWs one half no mushroom half no onion and bell peppers. On the second no bell peppers half everything. As We sat talking amongst ourselves enjoying the appetizers he checked on us a couple times making sure our drinks were always full. When we ordered our Dirty Martini's we learned our server was also the bartender. I have to say I ordered a lot of Martini's at a lot of places and this guy hit it spot on. Absolute perfect amount of olive juice and vermouth. When our pizzas came out we learned that they were remaking our friend's pizza because they messed it up. But they would be allowed to keep the mistake pizza for free and the other pizza would be out shortly. We asked for it to be boxed and we'll collect it before we leave which they gladly did for us. We very much appreciate them doing that for us. It took a minute for the new pizza to come out but when it did it was just like the first one. A beautiful pie of delicious cheesy goodness. While we sat there talking and eating our server continued to make sure our drinks were full and if we needed anything else. We appreciate the fact that even with how busy the restaurant was we were allowed to sit talking for an hour or more our cups were always full. He definitely earned his tip. When the check came we learned the manager had taken the pizza off our friend's check because of the mix up. That was very unexpected and generous of them. So we put the money saved towards the top instead. Totaling 33% of our bill. With drinks, food, and appetizers the bills totalled over $100. So it is a bit expensive if you drink from the bar. We had a great experience at the Hideaway and plan to return for more of that amazing pizza and service in the...
Read moreWe were super excited to try this place while we were in the city and left feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied. The garlic knots and meatballs were delicious and the pizza was good, but nothing special. What really ruined the experience was the service, it was terrible. Our waitress Phyllis made us feel like a bother and was very unwelcoming from the start. She never said "you're welcome" and barely even looked or smiled at us. We asked to move to a table because the fluorescent lighting in the booth we were sat in was causing my husband a migraine. When we asked our waitress about going to a different booth with different lighting, she responded that they were all the same (which simply wasn't true, other booths had lampshades that covered the bright white lightbulbs more and reduced the brightness) when we asked the hostess, she shrugged and said sure but didn't give any further instruction. I saw her look at the waitress, who made a displeased face. So we proceeded to sit at a table and then were told by the same hostess to go sit at another table. Why not just save us all the trouble and tell us from the start if you intended us to sit at a specific table? Before we ordered our pizza, we asked a question about what the difference was between deli pepperoni and regular pepperoni. Phyllis responded in a condescending manner. After we received our pizza, she asked something along the lines of, "Do you like the pepperoni? Tastes the same doesn't it?" in a continued condescending manner. The hostess seemed friendly at first but adopted an uninviting attitude as the night progressed. We don't plan on being back. We tip based on service and we didn't receive any. There's other Hideaway locations in the area, I'd suggest you give those a try.
Update: I emailed them like they asked to in their response and have yet to receive any...
Read moreGreat pizza (5 stars!!), poor service (1 star). Struggles badly with take out orders at all locations except in Stillwater, OK. Table service isn’t bad but also not consistently great. Needs ownership review.
**Update - since my original post (after a number of months of ordering from another location) we have slowly begin going back to the Automobile Alley restaurant and I’m happy to report they have seemingly improved on their To-Go execution. Perhaps it was a needed staff change or just some training but (so far) we haven’t had a repeat of the same issues we were having almost every time we ordered for many months in a row.
*2nd Update (12/31/18) - I am an OSU graduate and Hideaway lover of almost 20 yrs. I have had many friends work at Hideaway Stillwater and always had great experiences there including just a few weeks ago on Senior Day/game day. Because of this it both confuses and saddens me at the consistently poor level of service I witness over and over again at almost all of the OKC Metro locations I go to now with my family. I had hoped this was a blip on the radar when I first gave a negative review over a year ago (which was after many negative experiences, mostly on take out orders but not always) and would be quickly fixed by management however it has only gotten worse. Another bad experience tonight when my wife was again left waiting and they hadn’t even started making the pizza 10 minutes after the stated ready time. She was given a $10 credit after noticing the sign below so I’m glad they are trying something but sad it has to be done at all. The non-Stillwater locations are owned and operated by a different group (former employees according to their marketing material) and it seems like they have made growth and sales their priority over quality...
