This was my second time eating at Hatch. I was meeting up with an old boss that I hadn't seen in fifteen years, and wanted to take him out for a nice breakfast. We both had the house special coffee, which was quite good. Our server immediately showed us the current specials, and we ended up ordering the "spicy chicken and waffles" off this menu to share.
I have never left food at a restaurant in my entire life. Ever. Even if I don't particularly care for something, I either eat it anyway or bring it home for my dogs. I grew up very poor, and I was taught at a very young age "waste not, want not". The chicken and waffles was so terrible that neither of us ate our food. I managed to choke down my half of the waffles, and my friend ate half of their half of waffles. His half of the chicken was completely uneaten, and I took literally one bite of mine. The syrup that came pre-drizzled on everything tasted like maple syrup that had a bunch of granular chili powder poorly mixed into it. It actually almost made me throw up. This is coming from someone who literally will eat just about anything.
This review isn't because the food was awful, it's because the lack of consideration from the server. She was very sweet and young, but she couldn't have cared less that we literally left our food there. She brought the check out and just left it on the table before we even finished both our coffees. The first time she came back to ask how everything was tasting, I smiled and politely told her that it was actually terrible, but the good news is that everything was cooked really well at least! I've never actually complained about the taste of food before in my entire life, so I tried to do it as jokingly and politely as I could; after all, it's not her fault that we didn't like the taste of the thing we ordered. I digress... I didn't really know what I was expecting, but I definitely wasn't expecting her to just kind of giggle and say "okay, great" like I had just told her the food tasted amazing. When she came back out for the second time to grab our (full of food) plates, I reiterated that I've never left food untouched at a restaurant like this before, and reiterated that it was honestly awful. She just kind of giggled and smiled and said something to the effect of "okay thank you, have a nice day!". I was kind of honestly just shocked that she didn't offer to get us something else, or perhaps to remake it without the syrup all over everything. SOMETHING. I would have happily paid for something else; no suggestion was made on her part of anything.
This was an old friend's first (and probably last) time in Oklahoma, and this was the experience he had. It was honestly really embarrassing. I don't typically have many -if any- expectations, but Hatch fell so far short even below my abysmal...

After visiting Hatch Early Mood Food on Mother's Day Sunday with a party of 9, I came away with mixed feelings about the experience.
**The Wait We were pleasantly surprised when our quoted 2-2.5 hour wait turned into just 45 minutes. While certainly a welcome development, it makes me wonder if their virtual waiting list system (which allows people to join without being physically present) artificially inflates wait times. This could potentially drive away customers unwilling to commit to such a long wait. Perhaps limiting the list to on-site patrons would provide more accurate estimates.
**Atmosphere The restaurant is EXTREMELY loud. Several times our server misheard our orders due to the noise level. If you're in a hurry, I'd recommend confirming your order carefully to avoid mistakes. It was so noisy my Apple Watch kept telling me I was in a loud environment (over 90 decibels).
**Food The croissants, while tasty and served hot, were missing the advertised orange glaze. The regular pancakes were undercooked, and the Famous PanOKcake had to be remade because it arrived cold. Once properly prepared, however, the PanOKcake was delicious. The bacon ordered crispy, the regular bacon was bordering on being not cooked long enough.
**Policies I was told adults couldn't order from the kids' menu due to the "low cost of items," yet the 9-year-old at our table was allowed to order a full adult meal. This seemed inconsistent. I ended up ordering an à la carte taco for $5, which was actually less expensive than a kids' menu item would have been.
**Facilities The women's restroom was difficult to find. More concerning was the extremely greasy floor throughout the restaurant leading to the shared area where the restrooms and an old car display are located. It felt dangerously slippery – like walking on a Slip 'N Slide. A good degreaser application would make a world of difference for safety.
**Service Despite the busy Mother's Day crowd, service was good.
Would I return? Possibly, but with adjusted expectations and some tylenol to take...
Read moreWe tried to come here on a Saturday around 11am but the wait time was nearly 3 hours long. So, we came back on a Sunday morning, but earlier, around 8am. It was not crowded at this time, so there was no wait to be seated but man was there a wit for food. It took over 30 minutes to receive our food. The waitress we had was awesome, welcoming and kind. However, we noticed the other staff drinking Starbucks, standing around chatting while other parties were also waiting for food. I’m understanding now why wait times are usually pretty long. This is a scratch kitchen, so everything is made homemade. Their well-known has brown tumblers weren’t as good as expected. They tasted like bad towns mixed with the raw flour, the texture was off and there wasn’t much flavor. The Benedict Johnny was my favorite part of the meal, the braised pork was delicious along with the grit cake. The egg unfortunately was over cooked and hard in the center. We also ordered the panokcake which had bacon, pecans, and bourbon maple glaze. Again the pancake tasted like it had been make on a sheet pan, very thick and tasted undercooked. The bacon we got as a side was inedible as it just tasted like pure grease. Overall, there isn’t much pulling me back to this place. Prices are reasonable and there are lots of options but the quality isn’t there. The waitress we had was great but most staff seem to be waiting around which is probably the reason for the extreme wait times. There is a parking lot, the inside is industrial and neatly decorated, outdoor seating for warmer months. Overall, I would pass on this restaurant and not waste 3 hrs on...
