I am a HUGE fan of cook at your table dining. Admittedly, this is my first time having hot pot style at a restaurant, so I won't say this is typical of the experience since I honestly don't know. But the al la cart style can make this fit into any budget as a treat or a feast. You pick your broth style(s), your proteins, carbs, and veggies and cook a you go, or throw it all in and pull it out as you go. This place will top off your broth so you can take your time. Consider a protein, a carb, and two veggies per person as a good starting place. They also have hotpots for one (available as take out) if you are craving but don't want to dine in or find yourself craving on your own. Vegan options are available, and everything is made in-house, so if you have allergies and need help navigating the menu, the staff is super helpful. They do serve pork, but you can order plenty without pork in it depending on your dietary practices.
The Korean fried chicken is wonderfully crispy and wheat free. Made with potato starch, this is a great fix for that fried chicken that gluten-free lovers miss but don't want to mess with at home. The honey garlic sauce has a wonderful kick, but order on the side to keep the chicken crispy to the last bite.
The dumplings appetizer is handmade and is a little different than your standard premade goyza. The flavor is light and refreshing, neither heavy nor too greasy despite being fried.
The pepper fried pork can be enjoyed on its own, no hot pot cook necessary but retains its tenderness and absorbs the broth beautifully. The thin shaved meats take seconds to cook, so don't lose track of them. Glass noodles are a great alternative to overcooked squid if you like to chew forever (not my cup of tea, but the broth made it a tasty jaw fitness challenge) and the veggie and musroom mixed plates make for a satisfying and filling meal.
We went with the spicy Sichuan and a sweeter Japanese style option. The level of Sichuan spice is craveable heat but might be too much for anyone who can't handle their hot wings anything other than mild. I know Sichuan can go much hotter as my eyes didn't water and I only felt a mild sinus drainage effect. If you like things hotter talk to your server and they can probably hook you up.
They also have a sauces bar where you can get condiments like sesame and garlic, or mix your own sauces. Recepies are avaliable so look above the ingredients to find some popular ones.
Desert options are limited but the fruit and jelly was tasty. Not much fruit, mostly jelly, and it has peanuts on top, so if there is an allergy do let the server know.
Beverages range from your standard sodas to a house made sweet green tea, and other bottled beverages.
Overall, it was a great night out, and my partner and I returned home satisfied and refreshed. Best of all this was half the price of some other cook at your table places. Already planning...
Read moreJan. 20, 2022: booked reservation for 7 for birthday party: arrived promptly, ambiance was nice, greeted warmly by staff, happily informed the wait staff that this communal eating experience was new for everyone in the party but myself (I lived in SE Asia for a bit) and that we really need assistance. Well, I think that was what did it. From that point on we received ZERO help and even after asking, we’re met with smug attitudes (the same attitude as you see in the negative review responses…read for yourself). Buyer beware: when you order here, you must order EVERYTHING, unlike every other hot pot where the fresh veggies come with the broth. In front of my end of the table was placed a combo pot that contained something vile and past it’s expiration date. My daughter was fortunate to make it to the restroom to vomit. We placed the lid back on and turned of the pot. A waitress came behind us and removed it. I stood up and told we didn’t not want it in front of us as it was making us sick. She then removed the entire pot…no compensation, no apology, no inquiry, no concern…we paid for that. The prices for hot water and cabbage cannot be that more expensive just a few blocks North of Chinatown? I had ordered every single mushroom they had and I NEVER received them. We discovered upon leaving that they had decided to add them all to one broth pot at the opposite end of the table from me. Out of 7 people in my party only 1 person, myself, consumes fungi. You can guess how well that mistake on their part went over with us. Scroll down and read the review from the man with mushroom allergies. I feel for him. Read the reply as it’s telling. We tipped 30% because it wasn’t the poor waiters fault. The lack of service and attention was the waiters fault and if I had been paying, I would have refused to pay for the inedible offered as well as tipped appropriately. We. Will. Never. Return. FYI: the Korean Hot Pot place in Moore is authentic and served SE Asian style. Good health to you if you choose...
Read moreI will say, the food is great, but I did not get to thoroughly enjoy it. Now, just because this happened to me won’t mean it will happen to you, but here’s my experience. This is all meant to be constructive criticism as I’d love to come back one day! :) Now, I have an extreme allergy to mushrooms, and made sure to order items/soup base where mushrooms weren’t listed as being a part of the ingredients. I ended up ordering the spicy kimchi base, which I assumed did not contain mushrooms. Low and behold, there were mushrooms in the dish. I was disappointed, and when I brought this up with our waitress, she didn’t really seem to understand how serious this is to me. I felt like she kind of just shrugged it off after she explained that mushrooms can find there way into different bases in the preparation and proceeded to walk off and never really checked on me again (by the way we were rarely checked on during our stay). It didn’t sit right with me as this type of mistake can kill someone. I hope you all can be more transparent with the menu, and maybe ask if anyone at the table has any allergies just to start things off. Either that or place a disclaimer on the menu. I just wish our waitress were more courteous to the fact that this could have ended really...
