This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I’ve ever had at an “upscale” dining establishment. My wife and I wanted to do something special for Christmas dinner and were excited to see that Ramsay’s was going to be open on Christmas Day and they had a unique Christmas menu (once I compared the Christmas menu with the original menu I saw that they were basically the same, the Christmas menu was just shorter) so we made dinner reservations for 5:15. Things seemed off from the moment we walked in. The host seemed completely overwhelmed despite the fact that there only seemed to be 4-5 parties waiting. We told him that we had a 5:15 reservation and we arrived about 10-minutes early. He just said “okay, your table isn’t ready yet” and moved on. He didn’t invite us to have a drink at the bar or direct us where to wait, so we just sort of awkwardly stood next to the host stand. We waited about 15-minutes, 5-minutes past our reservation, but that’s not a big deal. While we waited they were attempting to seat other parties, but there didn’t seem to be any organized way of doing this. Hosts were just walking around asking people if they were the party they were looking for. Once we were sat things continued to be off. Our host asked us if we would like some water and we said we would and she disappeared. Then, a couple of minutes later, our server came by and asked if we wanted water. Two people asking if we want water…okay… She brought the water and took our drink orders. My wife ordered the White Cranberry Cosmo and I ordered a Modelo. Our server told me they were out of Modelo, okay, that happens. No big deal, so I ordered a Michelob Ultra. Then she came back to take our food order. We ordered the Tuna Tartar to start, the Truffle Potatoes Gratin, the 8oz Filet and added on scallops. Yes, we were planning on splitting that, but we do this very often. We make sure that we always order multiple rounds of drinks and dessert and we over-tip so that the servers don’t get screwed by a small tab at a busy restaurant. When I said that we planned to split the meal, our server made sure to immediately let us know that the kitchen doesn’t split meals in the back. It’s not something that we expected, it was just strange that that was her first reaction. Our drinks came, my wife’s cocktail was good and my beer was fine. We sat and talked, I got near the end of my beer and our server asked if I would like another and I said I would. Then the food came out. All of it at the same time. Well, almost all of it. Someone (not our server) brought the tuna tartar and the steak out at the same time. Surprising. The tuna was an appetizer. But where were the potatoes? We stopped the guy who brought our food and asked him about the potatoes gratin. He said that he would have our server check on that. Then our server came by the table and said that it was strange that the starter came out at the same time as the entree and that the guy who had dropped our food off was checking on the potatoes. Who’s doing the checking? Things that don’t give diners a lot of confidence. We had some of the tuna and then our server came with the potatoes and told us that she put the order in incorrectly and that’s why all the food was brought out at the same time. We were clearly disappointed in everything at this point and she could tell and apologized. The potatoes looked like they should have been hot, but they were luke-warm at best. Then we cut into the steak. It was cold. Not warm. Cold. And completely unseasoned save for a couple of herb leaves on top. There was no crust on the steak, like maybe it had been sous-vied, but then wasn’t tossed on a grill to get a crust. And. It. Was. Cold. By this point we were just done with the whole experience. And our server pretty much disappeared. We ate our cold food and sat. For awhile. Then our server came back, apologized for the mix-up again, and asked if we wanted dessert we passed and asked for the check. $175. No offer to take anything off the tab despite their clearly poor...
Read moreOverall experience was good. Would not classify this as a fine dining establishment but a casual commercialized eatery. Now for the details... walking into the restaurant it seems new and spacious. Sat at a table in front of the kitchen but immediately noticed the entire floor is very slick walking to the table. It felt as if they had mopped and spread grease/oil from the kitchen to the dinning room. Likely mopping without enough soap. Used the restroom and noticed tape lines in the paint and the tile seemed like a cheap universal tile from the local bargain bin tile store. No paper products to dry your hands only the Dyson germ spreader to blow your hands free of any bacteria and quickly place it around the entire room, to which the cheap tile was covered in water stains. Server was attentive, friendly and well trained and she quickly offered a glass of wine ($16 each) from the large drink menu to begin our meal to which we obliged and enjoyed. We choose the Tuna Tar Tar as an appetizer and the tuna itself was good and a bit spicy but the fried wontons seems greasy and heavy. We both ordered salads... I had the Caesar salad ($13), It had the right amount of all the ingredients and I would consider it very good to great but was to big to finish. My wife had the Wedge salad(13) and again it was delicious as well, with a very good house dressing. They ran out of his famous Beef Wellington(9:15 p.m.), so I choose the Pan-Seared Scallops ($48) and the waitress quickly offered to upgrade with a lobster tail to which she said is great and well worth it. ($24 upcharge). The three scallops were large and perfectly cooked and the pork belly was great to add with a bit of scallop but I did not particularly enjoy the very sweet citrus sauce that was to compliment them. The lobster tail was a total fail, It was tiny (crawfish size tail) which was rubbery on one end and raw on the other with little to no seasoning. I would not recommend this upcharge. I also ordered the Truffle Fries ($11) as a side to share and as expected the fries were typical and came with a side of ketchup and garlic aioli to which I felt the aioli had way to much garlic but my wife wanted to ask for a jar of.. My wife ordered the Daily Special ($?) as her entre and a side of asparagus($10) to share, The special was a branzino fish over a risotto, the flavors were good and my wife said she enjoyed the entre. However the asparagus had way to much Truffle butter, Aioli and Parmesan drowning it and it made the asparagus soggy and mushy. They could have put half the amount of stuff on the asparagus and it would have been a much better side dish. Halfway through my dinner I ordered a glass of Twenty Year Sweet Red Wine ($18) and enjoyed the flavors to wash down my meal. (it reminded of my time in Europe and I would suggest to try, if you have never) At the end of the meal I asked the server for a Lemonchello ($?) to end my experience and she looked at me as if this is the first time this had been asked this request (but she knew exactly what I was requesting). She came back with the bar tender who wanted to make certain he severed it as I expected, after we discussed the ways he could prepare the server brought it to the table chilled and tasty. He got it very close but I do like a few ice chips to keep it cold as I enjoy it. I was a little surprised to see this a such an odd request. We did not have room to try any deserts but all looked appealing. The bill was $330 and with tip came to $420. I would consider dining experience of this price to be in a much better atmosphere (i.e.. building fixtures and overall cleanliness) but we did enjoy tasting the food and the overall experience. Both of us concluded that Ramseys Kitchen will probably not be a reoccurring experience for us because Oklahoma City has many unique fine dinning establishments to enjoy and this seemed more of a commercialized dining chain we would eat at for convenience. Thank you to our server for the...
Read moreI want to start my review with saying that Victoria (Vic) was an absolute amazing server. She did everything she could to remedy what went wrong, had amazing manners, and was probably the best server we’ve ever had.
My husband and I dined here on January 18th at 8:15 p.m. for our anniversary dinner. The things that went wrong kind of ruined our dinner and anniversary evening. I’ll explain chronologically. Our drinks were very good. I ordered the salted caramel espresso martini and he ordered an RK old fashion. Then, my husband discovered a piece of styrofoam in his glass. I’m assuming this was used in the process of pressing the ice for the design and someone was lazy and forgot to ensure it didn’t land in someone’s drink.
We ordered scotch eggs as an appetizer which were very delicious. The veg underneath provided a fresh taste to accompany the heaviness of a scotch eggs. Well done.
For our next course I ordered a half wedge salad while my husband ordered the potato leek soup. The wedge salad was a very big portion and the best I’ve tasted. The blue cheese was not so potent that it was difficult to eat, the dressing was delicious, although the bacon could have been cut up into tinier pieces. Not a big deal. My husband’s soup was too leek forward and lacked any potato flavor and was just not good.
For our entree I orders the beef Wellington and my husband ordered the NY strip. We accompanied this with the truffle fries. The beef Wellington melted in my mouth and was delicious. The truffle fries were good, but I would not advise to eat them with the ketchup. My husbands steak had no flavor. When I say this please understand that I mean you could not even taste the meat itself. It tasted like nothing whatsoever. No beef, no salt, no butter, no herbs, nothing. They replaced this with a filet mignon that we ended up taking home. This is where our night was ruined. My husband had taken a few bites to make sure it wasn’t just the ends that were bad, it wasn’t. So I had gotten full by the time the server came back over to tell us his steak would be done shortly because after the initial report of the lack of flavor and offer for something else, it took roughly somewhere between 15-20 minutes. The server packed up my leftovers and my husband just asked for his to be boxed up as well. So we didn’t get to even eat our main dish together and that made this awkward and was a bit upsetting.
We had intention of ordering dessert but after those things went wrong, we decided to just go home.
When we got home and my husband tried his filet, it was seasoned with a TON of burnt peppercorn. So you gave us a new steak to remedy the lack of flavor in the old one with one that completely covered in BURNT seasonings. That felt passive aggressive and like a hit to us for speaking up about the other steak. Picture attached.
This really ruined our anniversary dinner. We were financially compensated for a certain amount off of our bill, which we appreciate. However, that does not make up for the experience on what should have been a special evening. We don’t get to go out much as parents and being busy with work. We love Gordon Ramsey. This seemed like a perfect evening for us, and it was simply ruined. The manager was also supposed to come talk to us and did not. I want to say again that our server was an absolute delight and at least she was the one who helped us through it because she made it bearable. This server deserves every amount of recognition possible. The manager should...
