Uncalled for, rude service from the manager. I came in 8:49pm, Wednesday, May 8th 2024. I was at petsmart just across the way, and thought I’d grab a sandwich for dinner.
I walked in and was greeted fine by an older woman at the register. Started looking at the menu and saw a young girl, couldn’t be any older than me -maybe 20-24- mopping the kitchen space very aggressively. we’ll call her mop-girl for the duration of this story, as she deserves as childish nick name to match her childish management behaviors I thought “oops, I wonder if they’re closing soon” so I asked the woman at the register if she was closing soon and she said yes, then mop-girl said “we close in 10 minutes.” I said “oh i’m sorry, I didn’t think about that, is it okay for me to still get a sandwich? it’s okay if not.” the woman at the register said yes that’s okay. then mop-girl said “only if you get it to-go.” I said yes of course. then I ordered my sandwich, I asked for tots with it. this is the first time I noticed the older woman at the register didn’t speak perfect english, and spoke with a pretty heavy accent I thought she said “fried or soft?” I replied “I’m not sure what that means, what’s the difference?” she repeated herself. then I repeated it: “…fried or soft?” then mop-girl behind yelled “THE FRIERS OFF. ITS OFF BECAUSE WE CLOSE IN 10MINS.” I said “oh, sorry, no big deal. it’s okay” this whole time mop-girl was rolling her eyes, and actually tossing /banging the handle of the mop around.
After I paid, my roommate texted asking if I’d get her a bowl of soup, so I said “I’m sorry could I get a bowl of tomato soup as well?” then mop-girl threw her mop at the counter, huffed, banged on the POS system, didn’t say anything other than how much it was. I paid. then they got a phone call and mop-girl said “who could that be?” in such a pissy way. the older woman answered, and not speaking well english, handed the phone off to mop girl. I over heard that it was someone trying to notify the restaurant of a large order for a party on friday. I was SHOCKED when I heard mop-girl say “yes I'm the manager” absolutely shocked.
I worked in a restaurant my entire teen life. I understand wanting to get your closing duties done before you actually close, so once you hit your closing time you can immediately clock out and leave. and it’s great when you CAN do that, but the reality is that you’re OPEN as long as your hours say you’re open. and you, especially as a manager, do not get to act childish and take out your frustration on a customer because you want to close the restaurant before your hours close. I even asked if it was okay, and the woman at the register said yes. I don’t know how that young girl became a manager, but the woman at the register was by FAR more professional and kind than this childish mop-girl was. I still tipped, because the nice woman doesn’t deserve to be punished for her managers childish behavior.
Maybe mop-girl should update their hours to close at 8:50. oh wait, the hours are set by CORPORATE.
Just so ridiculous. Remember everyone, they actually close at 8:50! Or you’ll be part of manager...
Read moreFood is OK. It's a grilled cheese with other toppings. Gourmet Grilled Cheese, if you please. A bit expensive to me, but if you want a grilled cheese, this would be a good choice. Thai is, if you don't mind having to ask permission to wash your hands or use the restroom. See, they are so worried that some random dude might come in and use their restrooms, they keep them locked and the key behind the register. There is a tiny sign at the top of the men's room that I didn't notice until it was pointed out to me. Other than that, 3 of us thought there was someone in the restroom. We were all waiting long enough that first guy tried using the women's restroom and it was locked too. We had all been waiting long enough that this was obviously weird. That's when we inquired and were told we had to be let in by an employee.
I don't know what prompted this decision by the owner but it is insulting to us as customers to make us ask permission to do something as basic as washing our hands or using the restroom. Not to mention, I really don't want someone handling food that also has to be reaching that nasty key all the time. That is also gross. And after she let me in, she didn't go wash her hands immediately, she dropped the key and went back to running the register and making change. Contamination everywhere.
Edit in response to the owner: As long as you require guests to ask permission to use the restroom, I won't be back. And I will be extremely vocal to friends and family that they should not go to your establishment either. This is not how customers want to be treated. Now that I see there was another review made about a month ago for the same reason, I am dropping my review to 1 star from 3 because the owner obviously thinks that this is a good policy and would rather defend it than change it. Customers should be free to wash their hands and use the restroom at their convenience. There is no way you have that many people walking in off the street to use your restroom that you need to keep it locked. And if you are keeping locked from your customers in the store, there is absolutely no reason for...
Read morePros: Cool to finally be able to visit a Shark Tank investment. The garlic, cheese, & chive tots tasted good. The bacon mac n chee melt was also decent (albeit did not have enough bacon on it). Cons: The chicken asiago melt was a TOTAL disappointment! I was expecting to get a nice, big, crispy, juicy piece of fried chicken between 2 slices of bread, but the chicken was actually a flat patty, one that they probably bought from Walmart’s frozen section. It was totally mushy and off-putting; I couldn’t bring myself to eat more than 1/4th of the sandwich. The garlic, cheese, & chive tots were $5, but came in the TINIEST little amount; despite tasting good (until they got cold pretty quickly), they were not worth $5!! The grilled chee donut was also nothing special at all. A flat sliver of cheese placed in between 2 halves of a mediocre donut. The average donut shop makes a donut that’s at least 5x better tasting. The service was SLOW. We waited 23 minutes to receive 4 little items, and there were only 3 items being made in the 1 party in front of us. Unreasonable, especially given that it wasn’t like the fried chicken was freshly made there or anything. Lastly, it was absolutely stupid that, in order to use the restroom, each person who wants to must get a staff member to open it for them using a key. This place is in a decent, suburban strip center, where I find it very unlikely that a homeless person or non-customer would take advantage of a free bathroom. This is such an inconvenience and drag for us customers, and slows the staff down further and makes it seem...
