The food was great except for one small issue, I had a rotisserie chicken taco & blanco queso (tacos great dipped into blanco queso btw).
My only complaint, which is rather a large issue but easily fixed- is the way they package the food to go, which completely took away from the taste, quality & experience. ⢠Basically if you order tacos to go, (or at least the rotisserie chicken is this way,) the taco came in a plastic container sitting in about 2 inches of juice⦠which made the entire taco/tortilla soggy & ruined the whole experience.
I figured this may have just been a random bad experience so I tried it again lastnight & had the exact same issueā¦. For the third time my rotisserie chicken taco was extremely soggy. It would have been great if it wasnāt soggy.
I would also add an option to have blanco queso (extra queso) added to any taco for a small fee. Torchies, your competitor, offers this option. Torchies also doesnāt have the soggy taco issue bc they wrap their tacos in foil & probably drain the meat of juice prior to putting into taco.
What is frustrating is the food is good otherwise, but no amount of flavor/quality can cover up a soggy taco⦠what is frustrating is that this issue could easily be solved with some smart management.
My suggestions as a former manager of multiple businesses- would be to use one or all of the following numbered methods to solve this issue & improve the quality of your product/experience, as well as increase the ratings your restaurant receives on google maps, yelp, etc. Ideas to solve issue numbered below. Drain the juice from the meat & whatnot before putting into the tortilla, &or drain the juice before putting it in keep warm container/tray/rack. (This is especially needed on more juicy meats like the rotisserie chicken as it has tons of juice which ruins the taco if not drained before hand, otherwise itāll be soggy in minutes or less.) I would drain the juice twice, once after cooking before putting into warming tray/keep warm area/rack, & drain another time before putting into the taco to get any remaining juice. For TOGO/Pickup only: 2. Line the bottom of the to go container with something absorbent- such as paper towels/napkins- in order to absorb any extra juice that leaks out before pick up, during pick up, and on the customerās way home. For TOGO/Pickup only: 3. After draining the ALL possible juice from the meat (wrap tacos in foil to keep warm) & putting drained meat it into taco, wrap the taco in foil. Could also wrap in a paper towel & then foil to absorb extra juice but I would test this to make sure it doesnāt stick to the taco, if it does stick, then just predrain meat & wrap in foil & put in Togo box lined with paper towels/napkins on the bottom to absorb juice that leaks out during transit.
Extra tip: ask customer if they want velvet sauce/taco sauce or any extra sides. Many customers may not know you offer a sauce if you donāt ask them if they want it. I myself didnāt know there was a velvet sauce into my 4th visit, & wouldāve used it had I known it existed. & would also add that you should add an option to add blanco queso to any taco for small fee like...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreSaw some reviews that there were vegan options so decided to try it.
So I will start by saying that the atmosphere is very fun, and everyone we dealt with was very friendly. I do have to say though if you are vegan this may not be the place for you. We immediately stated we were vegan and asked if there were any options. We were the only ones in the restaraunt so they were not busy at the time. The first person we encountered had no idea, but got someone (who I believe was vegetarian) to help. She was very kind and mentioned substituting tofu on some tacos. She checked on some sauces for us and we felt good about ordering. We did have to omit most sauces but their taco sauce and salsa are very good.
Our order came out and the ranch and other sauces we asked to be held were on all our tacos. We politely asked that this be corrected as we were very clear upon ordering that we were vegan and needed no dairy and specifically stated on each taco to hold the ranch or queso, etc. The staff apologized and promptly re-made our tacos.
Then just as we are about to eat a manager (seemingly) comes out to tell us that the tortillas are not even vegan! This is after talking at length with someone on possible vegan options. I sincerely appreciate her honesty in the situation but this is very frustrating!
I do not expect every restatraunt to have vegan options, but just say so upfront. Too many close calls. We did get the tacos refunded but I just wanted to provide an honest review for any other vegans thinking of stopping in. Good luck.
