The food is decent, but I've had other issues that cause the poor review.
1 - My order came out wrong. I think the cooks mixed up my flautas with my co-worker's. On a busy night I might let this slide but there were only 2 tables of people when I was in.
2 - Twice I have been here and they have overcharged me for my Corona. The window next to the door is painted with a huge "Corona $3.00" sign... Presumably to draw customers in.
The first time I had the issue, I mentioned it to the cashier, and I told them it wasn't a huge deal but I wanted to point it out. They are either overcharging people in the cash register are the painting on the window should be removed or changed.
Today I went again, and it has been probably a year since I was there before. Once again, the Coronas were billed at $4 each. My friend spoke Spanish and so she was able to ask the cashier about it. The cashier explained that the windows were painted by a previous restaurant and that isn't their prices. Look... I don't know how long the current restaurant has been in this location, but it has been at least a few years because I have been there multiple times over the last three years.
Even if they don't want to pay somebody to repaint the window, they should just have the paint taken off. It's false advertising, plain and simple. I don't appreciate that. It's not even about the money at this point, but the principal.
I likely won't be back because there are lots of other honest businesses in the area to...
Read moreWe were super hungry and all of the restaurants in our vicinity were packed and had a wait list of at least 30 minutes. So we chose Zapatas, as they had immediate seating. We plugged Zapatas into Google Maps and we arrived in minutes to a terrifyingly dark, and suspiciously vacant parking lot. The small, dimly lit building almost looked to be closed, but unfortunately, they were still open. The smell at our booth was worrisome. Our waiter was friendly and service was okay. The tortillas and salsa looked safe to eat. The queso was confusing. It had the appearance of diluted cream of chicken soup, but the consistency of lumpy gravy or gel. The most confusing part for us was that this "queso" tasted like extremely watered-down chicken broth! None of us could eat any of our actual entrées after our first bite, not even my teenage son! My rice was the only semi edible food on my plate. We liked our waiter, so we felt obligated to ask for to-go containers, even though we knew we would never eat our leftovers once we got home. We should've known better than to choose a restaurant with an empty, scary parking lot. Perhaps Zapatas is an acquired taste??? The only reason I gave the place 2 stars is because the waiter...
Read moreWorst experience ever, if I could leave zero stars I would. Service was terrible but tried to understand as a human at first. My bf ordered the chile rellenos and after one bite was very disgusted. When we asked to have the plate taken away and let them know it was not up to par and asked if we could have it taken off. The waitress said “ we can’t do that you chose it so there’s no taking it off but i can take the plate away” assuming it was their policy i had no problem but wanted to talk to the manager to get the $27 plate at least discounted and she rolled her eyes as she walked away. Management came over and we did like our other plates it was the only one we were highly dissatisfied with. Upon paying the same waitress was shorting us $10+ on our change and only fix it when I had brought it to her attention since she was getting changed i figured she was still waiting for it and has not given me the receipt. Upon getting the receipt i have gave her $100 our total was $42.19 and we were only given $43 back and some change....
