We visit Texas Roadhouse locations often and typically enjoy the food, service, and atmosphere. We hadn't been to this location in about a year and decided to try it out yesterday, which happened to be Valentine's Day. We checked in online in attempt to avoid waiting in the building. Our quoted (not estimated) wait time was 1hr 35min to 1hr 45min. We were told to arrive by 6:45. We checked in at 6:42 and received the text response to remain close and that we would be messaged shortly when our table was ready. After about 25-30 minutes past our quoted time, we called the store (at 7:12) to check in. The hostess stated that they saw we were about 20 minutes overdue and that they were a little behind. She said we could expect to be called back within the next 10 minutes.
After another 25-30 minutes of sitting in the parking lot (it was now 7:40), we went inside to ask about being seated again. While waiting to ask the hostess about our wait along with numerous other parties, I overheard the hostess state multiple times that the restaurant was running an hour behind. Knowing that we were about an hour behind our quoted time, I asked the same question. The hostess told me that they were running an hour and a half behind and that we would be seated in another 30 minutes. This was a different response than what she was telling other parties. I stated that we had called 30 minutes prior and were told it would only be 10 more minutes. She stated there was nothing she could do. At this point, I asked how many parties were still ahead of us rather than wait time. She responded there were still 15 groups ahead (so 30 more minutes sounded unlikely at this point).
I understand the hostess is not who put the restaurant behind schedule, but they shouldn't mislead customers multiple times. Sharing the correct wait time with us and being upfront after the first phone call or when I went into the store would have saved a lot of wasted time. We wound up going next door to another business to eat, and finally received a text from Roadhouse at 8:13 to proceed to the host stand, which we cancelled. With a notification at 8:13, this means the wait time would have been 3 hours, not our quoted (not estimated) hour and a half. Further, we were misled twice by the hostess and it was clear they were sharing random wait times with people knowing the wait would be much longer. My recommendations to Texas Roadhouse are to: Don't say quoted time if it is an estimate Be upfront with customers about wait times. Don't state it'll be 10 more minutes if you're clearly behind and the wait is actually another 1.5-2 hours. Train the hostess staff to be honest with customers and consistent in their responses. Giving out random times to customers to make them sit back down is unacceptable.
The service displayed by this location was disappointing to say the least. We do not plan to return here. While I don't think this is representative of all Texas Roadhouse locations and do enjoy the food, this store failed to meet...
Read moreI have dined at Texas Roadhouse throughout Kansas City for years, but this is the first time I dined at the Texas Roadhouse in Olathe Kansas. We waited an hour and a half, 30 minutes over the time that they told us that we would be seated. At that time, I went to the lady at the hostess desk. The lady to us would be another 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes went up to the front desk asked again. When will you be seated? she said we texted you 30 minutes ago, I told her I was just up 15 minutes ago. Why didn’t you tell me that our table is ready? She did not have an answer, therefore sent to someone else that could help me. The person she sent me to said it would be a little longer to wait. That was not the problem that I had, the problem I had was that she rolled her eyes and made a comment to the other workers around her and they laughed as I was walking away. At that point, I confronted her and asked why she rolled her eyes and what comment did she make. At that time who I thought was the manager came over asked what the problem was. I told him that we had been waiting close to two hours, but didn’t get to tell him what had actually happened because he immediately had someone seated us. I saw him walking through the restaurant later on, and I wanted to explain to him what had taken place. After I explained he apologized and said teenagers will be teenagers. I replied that type of service is not appropriate no matter what the age. He then replied that he was sorry again which I accepted. Then he went on and said that he was the owner of the restaurant, like that was supposed to mean something to me. I replied, good for you. Not in a sarcastic way just didn’t know why he needed to point that out. That upset him probably because I didn’t give him the respect he felt he deserved. At this point, he asked us to leave the restaurant. We did so quietly without any problem, because I was ready to leave anyway at this point. Everyone that I talked to that worked there was rude seem to be very stressed. I have worked in the restaurant business for many years as a teenager, and generally that comes from being understaffed or poor management. I will not return to the Olathe Texas roadhouse restaurant. Because if this is how the owner acts, and of course the people working, there will act the same way. If you decide to go to this Texas Roadhouse I hope you have a...
Read moreI was a party of one on a work trip. Was willing to wait for a table but the three hosts requested I go to the bar and shewed me that way. When I got over there, I only saw one seat between two people that were in deep conversations and the other empty seat still had dirty plates and glasses in front and people standing so I didn't know if that seat was free. So I saw a 6 top in the bar area with only two people on one end so I went to sit on the other end. I didn't realize they had the entire table to themselves, as I put my wallet down to pull out the chair the waiter cam over and said i couldnt not sit there and to go back to the bar. I was taken back on how rude he was and just left the bar area and went back to the host stand to wait for a seat since the bar area was full. I let the host staff know what happened and requested a table . The young man (the main host seemed iterated that I requested a single table) and said it would be a 10 min wait. I said ok and waited outside for a few mins. Came back in and literally watched every single person that came in behind me get a table till I was the last one standing in the waiting area. Then hostes seats me- guess where ! Yep, the bar area! I was the frustrated one now. But bit my tongue cuz I just wanted to eat after a 5 hour drive and a 6 hour work day and the restaurant was near my hotel. The waitress I had was nice but only took my food order and never came back to check on me, someone else brought me my food and the bartender told me I could pay my bill on the machine on the table took my plate and brought me a Togo container and that was that. The food was not great but not horrible. Nothing to write about. I asked for extra shrimp. But it was covered in butter so much I couldn't even taste the shrimp and the steak was more med well than med rare. I ended up just leaving within a few minutes of getting my meal just due to the negative vibe I was getting from the staff. As I was waiting on my meal I overheard the was seemed to be the floor manager being extremely rude to two of his wait staff and walking around . Not once did he check on any patrons or ask anyone if they needed anything. Multie wait staff hanging out at the entrance to the kitchen chit chatting. But mostly just an over all horrible experience. I typically love TR. But I will never go back to this one in...
