Picture it. Omaha. 2004.
A young couple enjoying a late-evening dinner, on a beautiful patio, at a restaurant in Dundee. She's enjoying the mac n cheese. He, the smoked chicken lasagna. Together, they enjoy three bottles of riesling, one chocolate dessert, and (because why not), a couple of cigars they purchased at a nearby shop.
As you can guess, that "he", was ME.
Twenty-one years later, I heard about "Ooh De Lally" opening in the same location. I perused the online menu, and was thrilled to see that they serve our favorite dishes from when it was the last place (Mark's Mac n Cheese, and the Smoked Chicken Lasagna). As you can imagine, it was a no-brainer to set up a surprise date night, with that same beautiful lady (now my wife of 19 years), on that same beautiful patio. Her Mark's Mac n Cheese, and my Smoked Chicken Lasagna were even more delicious then we remember. We each enjoyed the same house cocktail, "Tiki Me Away" (Planteray Pineapple Rum, Banana, Orgeat, Lime, Dark Rum Float & Firewater Bitters). For dessert, the love of my life enjoyed the Key Lime Tart, and I jammed on the whiskey bread pudding.
Now here's where the restaurant hit the third part of the trifecta (food, atmosphere, & service). Our server, Kristin (aka, The Bob Ross of Sauce) took, what was already a wonderful evening, to a whole new level, with her charisma & personality. And it wasn't just Kristin, the entire staff took care of us and made us feel so welcome.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of attending the soft launch of Ooh De Lally, and I must say, it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped in an ambiance that spoke of both elegance and warmth.
The decor was modern yet inviting, with tasteful touches that set the perfect backdrop for an evening of culinary exploration. The staff were incredibly attentive, ensuring that every guest felt welcomed and comfortable throughout the evening.
Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, where do I even begin? Each dish that graced our table was a masterpiece in its own right. From the delicate balance of flavors in the appetizers to the bold creativity of the main courses, it was evident that every dish was crafted with care and precision.
One particular standout was the Short rib Fries, which had everyone at the table raving. The presentation alone was a work of art, but it was the explosion of flavors with each bite that truly stole the show. And let's not forget about the desserts – indulgent, decadent, and absolutely divine.
What truly set Ooh De Lally apart, however, was the passion and dedication of the culinary team. It was clear that they poured their hearts into every dish, and their commitment to excellence was evident in every bite.
Overall, my experience at Ooh De Lally was nothing short of exceptional. From the impeccable service to the exquisite cuisine, it's safe to say that this establishment is destined for greatness. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this culinary gem, and I will most certainly be returning soon to indulge in another unforgettable...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I visited this place today after seeing many good reviews online, but we were heavily disappointed.
Our main complaint was with our server, Sarah F. After being seated, it took her over 15 minutes to greet us. The delay was so noticeable that another server realized we hadn’t been given water and brought it to us instead. When our appetizer arrived, Sarah failed to provide utensils. After waiting for five minutes, we had to take utensils from another table ourselves.
Later, I ran out of water and flagged her down for a refill. Over 10 minutes passed, and she still hadn’t brought more water. We saw her go to the back, fill water pitchers, and top off the glasses at two other tables, but she completely forgot about us. Eventually, the other server assisting the table next to ours refilled our water after an extended wait. Sarah never checked back with us afterward and demonstrated a complete lack of situational awareness. This was, without a doubt, the worst service we have ever experienced at what is supposed to be a classier establishment.
As for the food, it was very mediocre. While the steak was tender, it lacked any seasoning or even salt. The lobster roll was dry—not the bread, but the lobster itself tasted as if it had been sitting out too long. The braised short rib fries, however, were excellent, with no complaints there. The food was very overpriced for the quality.
Overall, we were severely let down and would caution others not to rely on the glowing reviews, as they are...
