Taco Bell's food does not need to be reviewed, because everyone has had Taco Bell. They get my order wrong from time to time, it happens. This review is not about that. If this is too long here is a consise version: I walked to taco bell, tried to open the door at 9:45 for a to-go, it was locked. I call taco bell and ask what time they close. They say 10. I say it's not 10 yet. I ask if I can use their empty drive through to order my food, which is open until 1am. They say it's a security risk, according to corporate. I walked somewhere else and got different food. There will be no next time for this Taco Bell until I lodge my complaint with the general manager. Here's where the one star is earned and the full story. This place has a drive through and a lobby. The drive through had 2 cars in it. The time, at this point, was 9:45pm. I walked there with my girlfriend because my car is repaired. The door says 10pm that they close. I attempt to open the door and it was locked. I called at 9:48 and asked what time their lobby closed and they said 10pm.
I responded with "Well, the doors are locked and all of your dining room stuff is put away - as if you were closed - despite what the hours on the door said"
Their response was that they had permission to do so by corporate, which is a lie; a corporation would never tell a popular restaurant in the area to close their dining room early, especially if their drive through is open until 1am because 90% of people aren't going to sit down and eat at 10pm at night in a Taco Bell. They just didn't want to do their jobs and tried to lie about it. It costs them very very little to keep their dining room open when all their time and money is spent on drive through
I asked if I could go through the drive through on foot, because I had walked there and expected to get my food in the store and leave. I was getting a to-go order. They said it was a security risk and that it would hold up paying customers who are in their cars. They also said it was against corporate policy. So is closing early.
At this point, both cars were gone from the drive through, so the drive through was completely empty. So, they were currently doing zero business for their company they work for while being way over staffed (there were 5 of them for zero customers). They turned away a paying customer because they closed their dining room 20 minutes early (all the chairs were up, lights were off, door locked at 9:45, a reasonable conclusion would they closed it at least 20 minutes early).
They also turned away at least 4 other people while I was on the phone with them after hearing the results of my conversation.
On this night, I counted 5 employees in the kitchen, all standing around, laughing, having a good time. They were not working, they were getting paid to stand there and do nothing.
In recap: It's one thing to close early. It's another to lie about it and tell me "Corporate said it was okay" (anyone who has worked in any food industry knows this is a lie). It's another thing entirely when we asked politely to unlock the doors so we can get our food because they're not closed yet and said they already pulled the cash drawers.! Lots of excuses when corporate "said it was okay". Besides, there's obviously at least one working register in that restaurant. They have a drive through that no one was using.
The fact we walked there, got there before closing time, wanted our food to go because it was freaking cold out and we were then turned away is absolutely appalling and, by far, the worst customer service I've ever received from any place, period.

Read moreI waited on life from 12:28 until 1:00am 12 of those minutes I was sitting in front of the intercom no one came to take my orders so I figured because they were busy they might have just been having people come up to the window when I finally made it up to the window over 30 minutes of waiting wasted because they told me I would have to go all the way back around because they don't put orders in through the window you can only do it if you speak to them through the intercom I asked to have it explained to me why I wouldn't be able to put it in right there through the window and all I was told was you just need to go back around I don't make the rules I'm sorry but I just got off work I'm a server out in council bluffs I understand how annoying it is when you have to make accommodations for people but for something that simple all the Taco bells I've ever been to in my entire life I've never had this issue before ever I don't understand why my huge heavy van was not giving you an alert that there's someone at the intercom needing to put their order in and I'm not understanding what was so difficult about pressing some buttons on a screen especially if your offer is you'll still do it I just have to go back around and wait an additional 30 plus minutes I will quite literally never return to this location the response that I received from an error on their end was absolutely appalling I'm completely baffled by the fact that it was that difficult for somebody to do their job on the spot. Please don't work fast food especially on a weekend night Friday-sun if you're incapable of handling fast paced environments where customers regularly make mistakes and are unwilling to correct your own. If that's genuinely your rules that you absolutely don't allow orders to be taken through the window then make sure attentively taking customers orders through the intercom, when the line is wrapping around the building it's highly unlikely there's no one whose pulled up to the intercom in over...
Read moreLook, I get that accidents happen, sometimes things fall through the cracks during work hours and a customer has a worse off experience. I have been to many fast food places where something happens where it’s an inconvenience at worst and I have to wait a bit extra for food. It’s fine and I’m not gonna review it badly, but this Taco Bell does not deserve this much credit.
The last 3 times I’ve been there, my food is never prepared or somehow “lost.” And must wait half an hour to an hour to get something. Everyone who works the late night shift do not want to acknowledge that you are there and you must play this game where they ignore you until you come back to ask the same question again.
Today was so funny, yet atrocious. My girlfriend came along with and we were waiting for 30 minutes before we asked someone for help. We gave them our names and even our order numbers and the guy “helping” us could not find our names or orders again. He “looked.” Everywhere, even looking at the series of orders that have been on the table, he shrugged and told us to order again even though we could not get a refund as our orders were put through and said “picked up.” We then asked 10 minutes later to a different guy if our orders are really just “gone.” And he found out my girlfriend’s order was actually on the table the whole time! Hahahahahah! So funny that we waiting 50 minutes for that. My order, it turns out, was just handed out to some random customer, so they also received a bad experience and I had to wait 20 minutes for my order to be remade.
Of course this place is not a fun place to stay. It seems like everyone who is working there at the end of the day hates you and wishes you were not there. They do not hire people who have multiple brain cells, and you will always have a bad time.
