Let me start with something positive before I drop the nukes. Our waiter was fantastic and the beer prices were good. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. We ate at the restaurant across the street the week before so we thought lets compare apples to apples. The complimentary chips I think were put into the oven and overcooked. The salsa tasted like it came from a sub-budget can isle at the local soup kitchen. The queso was something that I had never experienced. It resembled watered down milk and did not taste of cheese. We quickly had it returned to the kitchen and the waiter agreed with us. I ordered two Chimichangas which by themselves were good; HOWEVER, the refried beans we were served were more of a watery soupy mess. To top it all off, the entire plate was smothered in the above described disgusting watery queso. The Mexican waiter said he was embarrassed to serve it. The misses had fajitas which were good; HOWEVER, the rice that was served with it was pinkish-orange and tasted like shredded cardboard with a side of soupy beans. We asked for the manager. The misses went to the restroom and promptly decided to hold it until we could stop at a local gas station on the way home. All she said was it was disgusting on a completely different level. Intrigued, I went to the men's room where upon opening the door I was confronted with a powerful smell of urine. The restroom was nasty, nasty, nasty!!! The waiter actually said he does not use the restroom at work! I asked for the manager to come to the table. About 15 mins later, a small lost man that looked completely oblivious came and stood amongst 4 tables. He asked if we needed anything. I advised him I was waiting on this check so that I could leave this disgusting restaurant. Instead of raising the red flag of inquiry, he disappeared before I could advise him of the above complaints. The waiter came back and I informed him of the above and he spoke with the manager. The manager returned with the bill (which was full price), but by the time I realized it, he vaporized. The waiter took the bill and attempted to do the right thing, but came back embarrassed stating the manager would not let him cut the bill. We told the waiter to go across the street because his service would match the food there. I paid, we left and will...
Read moreI used to eat here often years ago. I moved out of state few years ago, and, yesterday I returned to Orange City and was so excited to bring my family to one of my local favs, for some amazing mexican food. My fiance and I along with our 9 yr old and 6 month old went around noon for lunch. We Arrived and the place was not busy at all (maybe 8 people in total dining), it took about 5 mins to be seated and about 15 mins to get our 3 drinks. The salsa was bland and almost watered down tasting and the chips were super greasy. We ordered a steak lunch fajita, steak enchilada meal and a kids cheeseburger meal. Nothing special. Our food took a bit to arrive and while we waited we weren't offered refills on chips or our drinks let alone checked on by our waitress. When we received our meals we could already tell the enchiladas were going to be off as there was maybe 2 tablespoons of what looked like salsa, not regular enchilada sauce on top. No cheese. nothing. The fajita meat and enchilada meat were both of boiled texture not grilled as fajitas should be, the meat was tough, chewy and flavorless. Almost spoiled tasting. Both of us decided we were not pleased and were not going to eat our meal. Our son took 2 bites of his dry hamburger ( ketchup never came after asked for) and said the meat tasted and smelled bad. He ate a handful of his fries. We notified our waitress about the food and she took one meal off our order. 1 meal. But all 3 were not eaten. We asked to speak with the manager and when he arrived to our table he spoke like he already knew the meat wasn't up to par and said don't worry about paying. I am disappointed in their wait staff for being lazy, their cooks for even thinking what they are cooking and serving up is edible or up to code. The manager himself needs to care more and want better for the establishment he is responsible for. Not enough negative stars could be given for this place. If you want good food go elsewhere. I promise its...
Read moreIt honestly baffles me with the amount of good reviews this place has. We normally go to a different Mexican restaurant, but decided to try La Hacienda last night (3/29). We've lived in Orange City for 7 years, and have only eaten here once before. And now I remember why. We were sat at a table right away, a gentleman came to our table, didn't introduce himself, and asked what we wanted to drink. I ordered a jalapeño margarita, my husband a soda, and a water for our 3 yr old. We also placed our food order. While we were waiting for our drinks, another guy came and brought chips and salsa, the salsa left much to be desired, it basically tasted like blended tomatoes, no peppers or onions or cilantro. Our drinks came (kind of), the waiter didn't give my husband his straw, and he forgot my sons water. My husband had to go to the bar to get a straw and I had to track down the waiter for my sons water. Our food gets there, my husband ordered fajitas, we had to call the waiter back to get the tortillas. I was never asked if I wanted another drink, as mine was empty when the food came. The worst part...I was almost done with my chimichanga when I found a bug! Legs, body and antenna, SO gross.
We called the server over, and asked to speak to a manager, to which he informed us that he was the manager! I was kinda shocked to receive such terrible service from a manager. We explained our issues, he didn't apologize, but did comp my meal. I've been in the food service industry off and on since I was 18, I'm 39. I've never had an experience like this one. Needless to say, my family and I will never eat here again. I also was woken up in the middle of the night with a terrible upset stomach. :/ I know it was this place cause that was the only meal I...
