Grumpy's used to be my go-to, I would recommend it to everyone, and I always made sure my out-of-towners had at least one meal there during their trip. In the last few months, it has gone hill. My favorite thing to eat was their eggs benedict, the eggs would be perfect, cooked yolk, and would mix so well with the muffins and whichever meat you choose. Now it doesn't matter what style of egg you order, you're getting a cooked yolk. I stopped ordering my Beni's and tried over easy and sunny side, yolk cooked completely through. Whenever I would be honest with the managers, owners, and wait staff about how my food was, they would act as if that's how the egg was meant to be. I've been going to Grumpy's for at least 5 years, this was never how they used to be. Another issue I have is the latex gloves, I have a true latex allergy. When going in to eat, I would normally start itching and never knew why, I always assumed it was due to cross-contamination of food products and I would just drink some benadryl and ask them to be a little more careful. My reactions were starting to get worse during each visit and I would make an excuse and brush it off. While eating, I saw a box of latex gloves on the counter and I immediately knew the issue. I stopped eating and talked to the manager about my allergy and asked her if in the future they could make sure there was zero cross contamination or if they could switch gloves since latex allergies are a more common allergy and she refused. For my health and safety I can no longer eat at your locations. Most states have already banned latex gloved in the service industry because of this, I don't understand why switching gloves isn't an option and they don't list anywhere that they use...
Read moreI stopped by this location today because I always heard how great the food was by former coworkers and the crew. It was very busy, but I was able to find a parking spot. Considering it was busy, we waited less than 10 mins. Service was friendly, Brad was very busy, but was attentive. My friend enjoyed their plate of scrambled eggs, corn beef hash, and homefries w a lemonade. I, however, wasn't impressed. I ordered the veggie breakfast wrap w homefries because I wasn't very hungry and an OJ. I loved the mug the OJ came in, very cool. Homefries were very delicious. The potatoes were a good bite size and cooked to where I like them, little crispy and burnt. The seasoning the cook used really brought out the flavor of a good ole fashion home fry. I took a few bites of the wrap and started looking for the hot sauce. I think it was because the mushrooms over dominated the wraps other ingredients, making the scrambled egg taste bland with no distinct flavor other than mushroom. I brought the rest of my homefries home to share w hubby as I knew he would like them and the wrap I brought home so that I could pull the ingredients out of the original wrap. I will add some flavorful seasoning, use a stronger cheese, and then place it into a new wrap. I will be back to try something else, like maybe the Benedict, and hopefully, I won't be disappointed again. Overall portions are good, and the wrap was hot. The homefries were not. But that's OK. I ate them anyway. Prices...
Read moreI stopped here for lunch with two friends and our three toddlers. We had called ahead and were told there was no wait time, only to end up waiting for 15 minutes for a table. Which is understandable given the traffic in the area. We had picked the restaurant since it was listed as vegan friendly. It is not. Everything on the menu has some form of animal or animal product in or on it. I ended up ordering a very delicious salad which I picked through to make it vegan. Everyone loved their food and it was delicious.
The only other hiccup came with the timing of the kitchen. We ordered the toddlers' meals with our drinks since their patience is not great. One mom's meal and a toddler's meal came out first. Which made the other two begin to get upset that they didn't have food...which we then waited another five minutes for. Then came the two remaining kids' meals, except they had the wrong side for my son's meal and had to take it back to the kitchen to fix it. Which led to more, "Oh god, please don't have a fit over your food in this public place, look crayons", on my part. The other mom's cooked food came and I then had to wait about ten minutes more for my salad. I was genuinely confused as to why my salad was the last item out, why everything was so staggered, and why the only not cooked item took so long.
The food was great otherwise! The waiter was friendly if rushed. But the place is packed and noisy, and the...
