Michelin Level Experience in disguise

Coramandel in Orange, Connecticut, is nothing short of a culinary gem offering a dining experience that is comparable to Michelin-starred establishments.

Having been regular visitors since its opening in February 2006, our relationship with this restaurant goes a long way back. Even after moving away from Connecticut, Coramandel's exquisite flavors lingered in our memories, making every return to the state an eagerly awaited culinary reunion. During one such road trip from Chicago, we planned a stop in Orange, CT, to re-indulge in Coromandel’s exceptional cuisine. The food here is nothing short of extraordinary—each dish is meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients, skillfully balanced spices, and an authentic touch that elevates every bite. The presentation of both the food and drinks is impeccable, with vibrant colors and artful plating that make each meal as visually appealing as it is delicious. The menu offers a wide variety of options, each crafted with the same level of care and attention, from the rich and flavorful curries to the delicate and perfectly seasoned appetizers. We tried the chef special Sham Savera, Paneer Hare Pyaza, Lamb Gustaba, Shrimp Mapas, Murg Dhaniwal, Chana gobi nawabi and dum biryani over the two days that we were there

The drink menu is equally impressive, featuring a selection of expertly crafted cocktails that complement the dishes perfectly. Whether it’s a refreshing Mango lassi or the sophisticated Medowi Milk Punch - the beverages enhance the overall dining experience.

The experience was so remarkable that we even packed an icebox full of their dishes to take back with us—a true testament to how irreplaceable and unique their food is.

In conclusion, Coramandel is not just a restaurant; it’s a destination. It remains a place we miss dearly when we’re away, and one that we make a point to visit whenever we can. The fact that we chose to dine there every day of our visit, and even take their food back to Chicago, speaks volumes about the unparalleled quality and unique experience that Coramandel offers. The owner takes great care to ensure that every table receives personal attention, and the staff is consistently attentive and courteous, making each visit feel special.

This is, without a doubt, one of the finest dining experiences one can have—not just in Connecticut,...

Coromandel Indian Cuisine is an absolute gem in Orange! From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed by a warm and inviting ambiance. The decor exudes a classic Indian charm that instantly transports you to a different world.

Now, onto the food – it's nothing short of amazing. The menu boasts a wide array of flavorful dishes, and each one I tried was a delightful explosion of tastes and aromas. The Chicken Tikka Masala was incredibly tender and rich in flavor, while the Vegetable Biryani was a symphony of perfectly cooked rice and aromatic spices. The attentive staff made sure our dining experience was flawless, suggesting dishes based on our preferences and ensuring our glasses were never empty.

The flavors of the dishes at Coromandel are nothing short of remarkable. The Chicken Curry had just the right balance of spices, and the Naan was soft and pillowy, a perfect accompaniment to mop up those delicious sauces. What really stood out to me was their commitment to using fresh ingredients, which made every dish burst with authentic taste. The Samosas were a delightful start, crispy on the outside and bursting with flavorful fillings. The Lamb Rogan Josh was tender and aromatic, showcasing the mastery of spices that Indian cuisine is known for. The dosa itself is expertly cooked to achieve that perfect balance between crispy and delicate. It's filled with a spiced and flavorful potato mixture, which is a blend of boiled potatoes, onions, and a melange of aromatic spices. The filling is both comforting and rich in taste, with each bite offering a harmonious combination of textures and tastes.

The staff were incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than happy to provide recommendations and ensure that our dining experience was top-notch. I also appreciated the prompt service, which showcased their dedication to customer satisfaction.

Coromandel Indian Cuisine is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates the beauty of Indian flavors executed to perfection. It's evident that they take great pride in their culinary offerings, and it truly shines through in every...

From the time you walk in to this place to the time you leave you feel like you were meant to be there. The staff was excellent all the waiters were well groomed shirts ironed everything polished. The lighting was spectacular the artwork was gorgeous. everywhere I went was clean the bathrooms the walkways The general restaurant. There were no smells from Grease on the walls and dirty carpets or dirty benches or chairs windows or walls everything was clean.

They sent us promptly and kept to social distancing. all the staff was wearing masks and wearing them properly. They brought paper menus to the table. Although there is no buffet my friends and I each ordered an entree and shared it family style so it would be like our own mini buffet.

We had a beef dish chicken tikka masala a chickpea dish and a cauliflower and potato dish. It was my birthday and they brought over this delicious treat with the candle and sang happy birthday with other staff members. They brought it over to the table with three little bowls and three spoons so I could share it.

The sauces and the chutneys and the bread was all very good the entrees were all very good. Nothing was too heavily spiced of course because I chose mild level of spicy and it truly was mild. Yet it was quite flavorful.

The service was outstanding. It was a nice atmosphere and very nice dinner. definitely not the cheapest in town but when you go to this restaurant you're getting an experience that you will enjoy.

coromandel is a restaurant you will want to put on your favorite restaurant list because it's going to be hard to be these chefs and presentation. You can go somewhere and pay less money but you will not get this type of atmosphere cleanliness service and delicious food all in one place like Coromandel.

they even told me where I could get good Indian ingredients nearby and I said to him next time I go there I'll be sure to stop in and eat here because it is so good and as good a cook as I am I don't think it will ever be as good...

I haven't been to Coromandel in a number of years. I used to go to the old location in Fairfield many years ago, but I was pleased to hear that the Fairfield chef is actually in the kitchen here in Orange. The food and the service here was top notch. The owner, Matthew, was attentive and gracious and welcomed us with a few treats while telling us a bit about some of the items that we ordered and where they originated from in India. To start, we had the Chicken 65, which was incredibly flavorful and had the right amount of heat that didn't detract from all of the other beautiful flavors. The strawberry lassi tasted so fresh and sweet, it definitely has become a new favorite. For our mains we ordered the Murgh shahi korma (chicken), the Mangalorean Kori Gassi, the Malabar Parotta, and the cheese naan. The korma and the cheese naan were both easily our new favorites compared to some of our usual Indian haunts, and the kori gassi was so well seasoned and spicy. I really like that the rice comes with bits of fried onions and peas in it, and everything is so incredibly savory. For dessert, we tried the vermicelli payasam which so creamy and delightful - I may like it more than my usual choice of kheer. The ginger and coconut caramel flans were both very good. The fresh bits of ginger in the flan is definitely unique and not something we'll likely find at other places, but the coconut was just such a pleasant dessert to savor. To finish off the evening, Matthew recommended that we try the Madras coffee, which he described aptly as an Indian cappuccino. I typically add sugar or sweetener to my cappuccinos, but this absolutely did not need anything added to it. The coffee had this wonderful sweetness to it, almost like a deep caramel flavor that was so smooth to drink. Definitely a great choice to end the meal. We will absolutely be back to try many of the other items on this stellar menu.

The most memorable experiences are the ones you stumble upon when you least expect them. Dining at Coromandel was one such experience for us. We happened to visit Coromandel looking for a quick bite before retiring after a long day of work. My husband is a foodie and a Bong. Even before we settled down, I knew it was going to be anything but a quick bite! The ambience was great and the staff was very welcoming. They offer a great variety of Indian cuisine covering the length and breadth of India. Their cocktails menu included an eclectic selection of cocktails which were all very unique. Each cocktail stood out in its flavor. The mixologist, Mr. Santhana, came over and explained his process and how he draws from his couple of decades of experience working across the globe and how he sometimes gives an Indian twist to some of his cocktails. I think we ordered Satrangi Kebab to go with the drinks. The dips and chutneys accompanying the Kebabs all had some twist to the traditional recipe. The serving staff was exceptional and they were very happy and present! We were served by Sajith, who was very sweet and he discreetly kept an eye on our table and never kept us waiting nor hurried with our food. For the main course we had a simple biryani and raita - again with very subtle flavors. Mr. Mathew, the owner, was busy running around and picking the load on a busy weekend. He still managed to drop by at our table for a chat and told us a little bit about his journey. It is impressive how he has treated the Indian cuisine with so much love and care. Mr. Mathew and Mr. Santhana are veterans in the field and their passion shows in Coromandel! I would not hesitate to say that Mr. Santhana is truly an accomplished artist. I would very much love the Coromandel team to consider opening a place in Austin :-D
