My wife and I went to Shoga on a Monday during early lunch service for a date, these are a few thoughts on the visit.

General Understaffed, however very well trained to handle the stress Served Coke products, had other options except for Pepsi Great food! Great value for the quality and service experienced A bit difficult to get to and parking was a bit of a pinch A great place for a date or small group, very intimate and private

Pros The menu had a good selection of authentic Japanese dishes and sushi, surprised (in a good way) to see a detailed alcohol menu The flavors and quality of the food far outweighed the bill’s cost The food was fresh, well cooked, and timely The sushi was handled with a great balance of flavor and texture allowing the sushi to talk on their own The staff was friendly, approachable, and patient as we made our choices Tables, chairs, and floors were clean, clear of clutter, and the staff was proactive in maintaining cleanliness Bathroom was clean, bright, and safe to use The interior had a modern and a defined fine dining feel and the music’s level was perfect for conversation

Cons The restaurant is set in an obscure part of a shopping mall and is hidden by other businesses The menu was a bit large, could have used a trim There was no one to greet us at the entrance, caused a little confusion and hesitation at first Parking lot is tight and services several businesses

Overall, I will be returning in the future and definitely would suggest this location for those looking for a restaurant that provides a fine dining feel for your next date night....

Very casual restaurant, the ramen is the star of the show. Walking in, it took about 5 minutes to be seated. No one had acknowledged us while we waited, and the entrance is crowded for people coming in and out. The interior was dimly lit, which can be a fun atmosphere.

We ordered the Miso Ramen. The presentation was fun. It came with the miso broth that was very tasty, it had a nice fatty flavor to it for being a soup. The pork that came with the dish was surprisingly good. Usually when I get ramen, I prepare myself to dislike the meat because it’s typical to the dish, but this place didn’t succumb to the rubber-meat pitfall. The eggs were cooked perfectly, with a soft yolk and what appeared to be pickling on the egg white.

We also ordered sushi rolls — Dynamite, Spicy Scallop, and Gobu(?). The Dynamite ($15) was great and hit the spot. It had a nice hearty meat, good spice, and I believe cilantro to balance the two. The Spicy Scallop ($9) was subpar but understandable since it was the cheapest of the rolls. It mostly just tasted like a mayo concoction to me. The Gobu (~$15) was tasty because of the citrus. It did feel a bit lukewarm with a weak meat flavor, so it wasn’t my favorite.

The service was somewhat slow. We waited about 10 minutes just to get the check picked up so we could leave.

Overall seems like a nice spot for casual hang out, and I would try it again for the entres or ramen. I wouldn’t care for the...

We set a reservation, drove an hour, arrived and was seated right away. We sat at our table for 10 minutes before receiving a menu or a server. All servers walked past us connecting eyes as they past. Our drinks took another 10 minutes. The miso came at the 30 minute mark. During this time 2 other tables had been sat and was eating their main dishes. At the 40 minute mark one of the tables had finished and was out of their seat. Most of our food came around 50 minutes. We ate our meals and waited for the remainder to arrive. At this time the 2nd table had finished and left. The kids were ready to leave. Another 10 minutes go by and I flagged the server down and asked where the last roll was and for more water. Shortly after the last roll arriving. (This roll in particular cost $26.00) The roll came with imitation crab which was specifically asked to remove/not have on there. I removed the crab and ate the roll anyway.

This was my second time at this restaurant and I had been thinking about this place since May/June. I'm bummed about the entire experience and honestly not happy about paying $105 for...

Exceeded all kinds of expectations! Delicious food! Great service! We came on a Friday night for date night and this place was PACKED! We were worried we weren’t going to be seated for a long time, or be seated at all for that matter. We were asked to wait because EVERY table and booth was filled, which was the only awkward part because we took two of the four chairs to sit in and people just kept on coming in. We were seated within 5 minutes so we hardly had to wait at all. That tells you how fast they can clean and prepare a place for you. And it was spotless! The best way to tell if a place is good to eat at is the number of people eating there. This place was a 10/10. It was the perfect amount of food. Not too much for boxing it up, but plenty enough to fill you without making you feel fat. It’s a healthy full feeling!
