Fancy food at regular restaurant prices? Wow! So I came here based on the description of the cheese plate appetizer. By the way, that was divine. Honey drizzled over blue cheese and Brie cheese with strawberries and toasted bread slices. I can't say enough good things about that simple appetizer. I could drive an hour just for that. Then we saw on the menu they had duck, escargot, and many other unique and interesting dishes all for around 20 bucks a person. My wife ordered the duck pasta with a mushroom demi glaze. It was the best duck I've ever tried. No gamey taste but it definitely tastes like duck. The mushroom demi glaze was delicious and had a strong mushroom flavor. The bowtie pasta was cooked perfectly and was a good pairing with the sauce. I ordered the Beef bourguignon. The burgundy sauce was amazing, the beef was oh so tender and no bad pieces with grizzle or fat. The green beans and carrots looked beautiful on the plate and were cooked perfectly. Just a slight snap when you bite them, but not undercooked. If you are looking for a fancy dinner that feels casual enough for an everyday lunch or dinner, this is the place to go. Next time I'll be trying the lemon shrimp pasta or the sea bass. Can't believe that's even an option at 20 bucks a meal. This is my new favorite restaurant. I'm assuming I don't even have to tell you the service was amazing. The staff was great the store was clean and the decor was very comfortable and easy to look at. They even had pillows in the bench seats. Never been to France but if I didn't look out the window you could have easily convinced me I was teleported to a French bistro in Paris. Nothing bad to say here. This restaurant is sure to make you leave smiling and talking about the...
Read moreMy husband and I had lunch today 7/21/22 at Gaston's Bistro in Orland Park. We had a $50 gift card that we forgot we had from 2018 and decided to use it. We ordered two sandwiches and two ice teas. The food was very good andit was a nice day to spend out since we haven't been any where with Covid going on. We gave the gift card to our waiter and after quite a while, the owner approached our table and told us the company that issued the gift card went bankrupt and that he has a list of numbers of those gift cards to check. He came back and said our card was crossed off the list and we must have used it.We told him we never used the card before. We assured the owner we did not use the card before and we still had the $50 receipt with the gift card. He did not believe us. It was an embarrasing situation in front of other customers. We are not in the habit of seeking free meals. He said, well, I can give you a discount off the bill. Our bill was $29.00 plus tax. I gave him my credit card to pay the bill. He took $2.90 off the bill and we gave a $6.00 tip to the waiter. So, a $50 gift card worth nothing and a business owner not using good judgement in giving the customer the benefit of the doubt. I had to write this review because it just did not sit right with me. Not good business judgement and he lost...
Read moreOrdered food to-go, presented a coupon from Dining Advantage/Entertainment and the guy wouldn't take it. He said he's never seen this coupon before. I showed him the coupon with Gaston's name and address, unless there is an identical Gaston's Bistro with an identical address??? He went on to say he hasn't seen that logo in years. I told him I know I definitely used this exact coupon last year because my son and I ate outside because of COVID and the coupon was accepted. I checked my bank statement and like I told him there is a charge on my credit card from last year on June 28, 2020 plus I found the redeemed coupon in my Dining Advantage account. I explained to him that maybe they should call the company and tell them they are not taking the coupon because people are paying to get these coupons because that is how Dining Advantage works. He said they've never had any agreement with them. I'm just confused because why would DIning Advantage have your restaurant's information on the app if you have no agreement with them? So you can take customers money but not have to honor the coupon. I wish I would have just walked out and left the food. Bad customer service and even worse the food was not even that good. Do everyone a favor and at least call Dining Advantage, tell then to take your information off...
