I enjoy the atmosphere a lot. Very cozy, nice chairs, and interesting people! However, the service and so far the selection of drinks (could be i haven’t found my drink yet) don’t match the atmosphere. The man at the front with blonde highlights chooses which customer he wants to be respectful and kind to. Whenever I order he hardly looks at me and our transaction lasts 20 seconds with the bare minimum in dialogue, just a “hello”. As I watch him engage with others, the interaction was night vs. day. He would actually do his job and welcome people and talks about the menu with others. What caused me to write this review, is my most recent experience; I ordered a fruit tea that was served bitter and unsweetened. Completely fine, no problem since there is an area for sweeteners. What bothered me is when another customer after me order the exact same thing. The customer even went and sat at a table, and the man at the front left his post, went to the customer and asked them if they wanted a sweetener added for them, and gave them a warning about how bitter the drink is. Mind you, I didn’t receive the kindness of a warning or an option to get my drink sweetened. Also, he brought the drink to this customer. Whereas with me, he called me up by my drink name (at the time i was the only person who had ordered since walking in the door) After observing every interaction he has, I have a suspicion as to why my interaction with him was so different. Let’s just say, I am a minority and the other customer was not. And let it be known the man at the front wasn’t a minority either. I am still observing so I won’t further my suspicion, but I think that what took place at this shop was unprofessional to witness. As well as shocking to see how young and progressive the shop portrays itself. This is my first ever review I’ve written. But I feel for others similar to me and should know the kind of service they’ll...
Read moreThe Drunken Monkey is right on Bumby Ave, corner of Stanley St, next to Beefy King. I was surprised by this small restaurant. It is family owned and has been operating for 17 years; something they're doing right. I called and placed my order by phone, as I could not figure out how to place an online order; no big deal. The young woman that answered the phone was very polite and sounded so sweet and friendly. She helped me with my order and suggested alternatives to what I wanted, because what I asked for was not on their menu anymore. I ended up with a Royale Panini which is very tasty and a Turmeric Latte (Golden Milk). I got the Turmeric Latte because I've been meaning to try it and for its potential health benefits. Now, that Royale Panini was stupendous, it was done almost to perfection; it came with a little side of potato salad, which was enough and tasty except that it needed a little bit of salt. Order was done fast. I went in to pick up my order and order was ready for me to pick up and go. The staff is great. I will be back to try other items that I saw on their menu and to try their Matcha; I love Matcha. Thank you for the great food and service...
Read moreWe've been coming here for over 10 years and have never been disappointed. Two days ago was unique because we came to Orlando to escape hurricane Ian which was headed for us in Tampa. To celebrate our escape, we first visited Drunken Monkey before going to our hotel!
Drunken Monkey is the ultimate unique local spot in Orlando! They serve their own roasted coffee with pure espresso, creative lattes or whatever you like. The food is always fun and interesting. Plus, the clientele and servers are always helpful and friendly. I met a fun and fascinating person during my visit who does her own tattoos and enjoys coffee as much as I do!
They serve multiple types of vegan sandwiches and soups as well as other seafood or perhaps even a chicken soup. The soup menu seems to change every day which makes it fun!
As for the coffee, I did the pure double espresso test. No sugar. No milk. Just fresh espresso.
It was served with a beautiful crema and the aroma tantalized me. My first impression was one word. Sweet! Pure and truly delightful!
My wife enjoyed the soups and her turmeric latte. I enjoyed my sandwiches.
Life is good with excellent in house...
