Swine & Sons is my daughter's and my favorite Saturday morning breakfast spot. I am a little worried that if too many people find out about it we won't be able to find a table!
One of the things I really appreciate about S&S is they believe in using quality products. A lot of which they create in house or source locally. They have a large fridge filled with their own cured meats and they use those cured meats to create their sandwiches.
There are additional fridges stocked with beer made next door at Cask & Larder, locally brewed kombucha, in house ice cream, and in house pickled products (think pickles, kimchi, sauerkrout..). They also source a lot of their produce from local organic growers. Their breads and baked goods are sourced from Olde Hearth Bakery in Casselberry.
They just added wine and a few cocktails to their menu as well.
If you are looking for a place with huge proportions and food that tastes pretty much like any where else or you are wanting a build your own sandwich shop this might not be the spot for you.
But if you like food and drink created with quality components and don't mind trading less mass for more flavor you will probably love this place.
As far as the breakfast items go, they usually only offer four breakfast specific menu items. But boy are they tasty! Usually what they offer changes on a weekly basis. Fortunately they almost always offer a breakfast sandwich made with their tomato jelly. Tomato jelly = happy little girl!
I have found the staff to be friendly, knowledgable, and enthusiastic about...
Read moreYesterday I went with my husband and kids for the first time to Milkhouse location. The food was good, we ordered burgers and they were very tasty… However, the waitress that received us was kind of rude. We brought in food from another place for the kids since we weren’t sure they had a kids menu (some of this type of restaurants don’t) so we went ahead and bought something for them. We weren’t even completely seated it when the waitress told us we weren’t allowed to bring food from another place but that it was ok for us to stay, for this time. Now, the problem wasn’t what she said, I can understand the rules, but the way she said it. I think she could have addressed the issue a lot better. Usually, one of the first things they asked you before they take your order is if is your first time visiting. She should have been more polite… I don’t even know her name because she didn’t even told us. After that, it was just weird service. We felt a little rushed to order when there was no need, we arrived around 6:00 pm and they closed at 10 pm. Definitely staff needs to be better trained. Also, a suggestion …. (not sure If it is but I didn’t see it) kids menu should be on the menu, on social media or at least on the website so the families know you...
Read moreI was disappointed especially given the zealous reviews. The smashburger was incredibly...ligament-y. Yes, ligament-y. It felt like I was biting into a burger filled with 50% chewy ligaments. It was dry, and it was a thick blended mass of ligaments and then some meats and looked like it too. I don't like to leave negative reviews for independent reataurants because they're fighting against economies of scale--but when you are priced 2-3X higher than Steak & Shake, you really should not be using so much filler and you should make sure you don't cook it til it's juices run away. The smashburger's a 1/5. The hot chicken sandwich was, on quality, great: juicy, soft, with a very good batter of crisp. I didn't care much for the flavor, I didn't like the sweet BBQ sauce, and now that I've just looked it up again, I didn't realize it was supposed to be spicy. 😅 The chicken sandwich is a 4/5 for me. Fries are typical -- fried to crispy and dry with no soft filling or flavor left. The place was filled with seating and people working on their laptops--yes, that kind of place. So I can see any people would want to come spend some hours there to work. It's casual and downtown. 5/5. I just can't get...
