Miller’s Ale House on Colonial has been our go-to for about a year now, and I’m finally giving this location the credit it deserves. My boyfriend went for the “healthier-than-my-option” route with a bun-less burger and broccoli, which I’m sure is his way of balancing out the French onion soup we both devoured. Meanwhile, I stuck to my favorite: chicken zingers with fries, because fried food is my love language. Now, let’s talk about the chicken tenders. Don’t let their finger-like size fool you—they’re deceptively filling. The meat is juicy, but I’ve got to admit, there’s something about the batter that gives them this wrinkled texture. They look like they’ve been dipped in a time machine and come out looking like old men’s fingers. It always makes me think of Salad Fingers and his love of “rusty spoons.” Thankfully, the zingers are far more appetizing than that visual! And then there’s the French onion soup. I’m VERY serious about extra cheese. When I ask for it, I expect bubbling, golden, slightly crispy perfection that could double as a blanket for the soup. Miller’s nailed it—no sad sprinklings or half-hearted attempts here. They understand the assignment, and I respect that. The vibe here is always casual, the food hits just right, and the servers never bat an eye when I shamelessly drench my fries in ranch. Miller’s, keep the zingers wrinkly, the cheese extra, and we’ll keep coming back for more.

Ordered food for take out and was greeted by a rude little fella who I believe is the manager. From the start, I felt uncomfortable as if my presence in their restaurant was a burden. The hostess proceeds to tell me they’re out of prime rib instead of calling me and letting me know prior to my arrival so I could change my order to something else. Prime rib was the main entree I planned on eating tonight. Instead, they tell me upon arrival that they don’t have anymore(what a joke). After that news, I asked the hostess if I would be refunded for the prime rib ($23) and she hesitated and looked at the receipt like it was an issue that I asked for a refund on an entree they didn’t make. The manager, or whatever you want to call him, then proceeds to tell me that he can refund it like they weren’t going to refund me for a $23 entree they didn’t make for me. Like anyone, I asked for a copy of the receipt to show my “refund” and the napoleon-complexed manager told me, “I can’t provide proof of refund but I will adjust it later tonight.” So now I’m trusting in some pinch-a-penny manager from millers ale house who didn’t alert me that an item I ordered wasn’t available, not even refund me for the item prior to my arrival to go back and “adjust” the order so I get my money back. Worst service I’ve ever experienced from any restaurant.

I had the pleasure of visiting Miller's Ale House by Colonial Drive and Fashion Square Mall today (AUG 14) and I must commend Annie for her exceptional service, multitasking skills & energy. I was working remotely and had a moment to run inside to order my lunch. Annie did take my order with the most incredible customer service smile, and her glowing personality instantly brightened my day! I absolutely loved her style and her eagerness to help me with my order. I ordered the Zinger Melt and a salad, and she made the entire experience very pleasant. She was quick and efficient, ensuring that my food was prepared just right. Her attention to detail and genuine care for my satisfaction stood out. Annie went above and beyond by providing me with extra hot sauce for my wings after I mentioned I like my wings wet. It was such a pleasant surprise to find the extra pack in my bag. She also allowed me to work on my computer outside for a brief moment while waiting for my meal, making me comfortable during the interim of working remotely and picking up some grub. I will definitely be back to this Ale House, and I hope that Annie is there to assist me on my next visit soon. Side note, I'll definitely be back for that pint of Capt Jack's Treasure 😅

Let me start with when we got there, it's a Sunday afternoon around 2:00 pm. It was pretty busy but we decided why not. The hostess was very nice and said it would be 10 minutes for a table so we decided to stay, it was myself my daughter my autistic grandson my cousin and her autistic son. We had just left from an autism event and we were all hungry. It was actually less than 10 minutes for our table which was great, and that's the best thing I can say about our whole experience !! Us adults decided to have adult beverages and I ordered a Pina colada with minimal ice, first I was told the blender was broken, I said fine I'll take it over ice, then our server (Josie) came back and said the Pina colada mix was super thick, I said I only wanted blended with a few ice cubes and she said okay. (Apparently the blender was now working). I took a few sips of it and it tasted great, but noticed a huge crack on my glass that went almost the whole perimeter of the glass, so I told our server and she went to get another one and now they're out of Pina colada mix !!!

I ordered french onion soup, which was the worst I've ever had, I also ordered zingers with the garlic parmesan sauce on the side. The sauce was just butter, couldn't taste any garlic and there was no parmesan cheese. I asked our server for the teriyaki sauce and she brought buffalo. Whatever, at this point I just wanted to eat. Both boys ordered classic burgers, on medium and one medium rare, the girl who brought had no idea which was which with the little sticks they put in them so back to the kitchen they go to figure it out. Still got it wrong. None of our food came out at the same time, and none of it was very good !!!

We waited 20 minutes to get our checks and we were told it was because they were taking the Pina colada off the check, should have been done right away. Truth be told if the hostess wouldn't have walked by and I asked her for help with getting our checks, we probably would still be sitting there !!!

Ale house used to be one of my favorite places, but since it became Miller's ale house it really has gone down hill !!! This was my second time at this location and it will definitely be my last. Service was bad, food was horrible. The only bright spot of our experience was the hostess who was very nice and very...

Wow, not even close to the Miller's standards that I have been accustomed to for the more than 20 years of going to this chain. My wife and I are an easy table to take care of and I can honestly say the only things that were right were the Miller Lite bottle of beer and my wife's ice tea. Started out the table was sticky and we got an excuse from the waitress "Destiny" it was due to the humidity (which was not that bad). Once she wiped it down properly it was not sticky anymore. (hhmmm) We got one set of table settings (one napkin with utensils). When I asked for a second set the waitress said, "Trust me, there are two in there." It was one napkin with two knives and two forks, put at the end of the table. Ok, not normal but not a deal breaker. Took our order and food came in about 15 minutes - not too bad. She forgot to put onion rings on my burger order and got fries. She came by near the end of the meal and I mentioned it and without any kind of discussion turned her head and went back to the kiosk to check, then went directly to the kitchen. 10 minutes later brough onion rings to the table of which we were already done and ready to go. Both my wife's and my fries were horrible. Very dark and oily in color and way too crispy, like they were cooked too long or double-dropped. My wife's Philly Cheese Steak had absolutely no seasoning and was dry with bun falling apart. My burger was not seasoned and not to Miller's standards (my go-to place for burgers). Wife ordered a Mai Tai which they forgot, and brought at end of meal. Mai Tai was basically Grenadine and Sprite, completely red in color which is not what Mai Tai should be. Guy that brough the drink even apologized saying he did not have all the right ingredients, and rather than come to tell us they mixed up something to try to appease us. Manager came buy and listened to our complaints and said, I'm sorry, I hope you have a good night. He did not try to fix anything. Worse of all, they withheld the portion of the check that had the detail of our meal, and, most important, the QR Code to leave a review. This night should have been a simple, satisfying experience for all involved but instead was way below any kind of...

EDIT: since the post below I have been here at least 4 times and they have terrible kitchen staff. One time ordered wet wings with extra sauce. They came out dry. Today got the Big Red and they didn’t put any sauce on the sandwich… which is supposed to have hot sauce on it. I spoke to the manager on duty and he fixed a new sandwich. I told him about all the previous issues.

But given that in a majority of the visits I’m met with consistently inconsistent orders why would I come back. So listen if you want to play roulette with your orders this is the place. Otherwise head elsewhere. I’m done.

ORIGINAL POST: Visit this location about 1-2 times per month, but in the last two visits, the service has been SLOW. The servers are fine, but the kitchen is not. We waited at least an hour for food on both occasions. On the last visit, I ordered shrimp, and it didn't come with the cocktail sauce (this is an example of the poor service by the way.) and I asked the person who brought the plate for the sauce (even though it clearly says on the menu it comes with it.) Instead, she disappeared and never came back. A few minutes later, we had to waive down our server and she got it.

And - the ketchup has disappeared from the tables, and you need to ask for multiple amounts since what is brought is very small portions.

While alone, none of these are big issues, but taken together they are a sign of a failing restaurant. Slow service, having to ask for sauces and ketchup, and staff that doesn't acknowledge your presence.

I am only giving this place one more chance. And then I will be gone forever. It is just getting to be too much work going to this location.

UPDATE: I received a response from the manager and asked me to send my contact to them on their website (see response from them below). Prior to posting this review, I did just that. But it appears that public reviews get more attention than private emails to the company. This tells me much about how they respond to problems. So I would appreciate they actually respond to my private feedback from...
