In the heart of Orlando's Mills 50 district, tucked discreetly behind a hair salon on Colonial Drive, something remarkable is taking place. Heather, the visionary behind Baldwin Park’s cherished wine shop, Golden Hour, has opened the doors to her latest endeavor, Quicksand. And what a debut it is. Heather's touch is unmistakable. Known for bringing a convivial elegance to the wine scene with Golden Hour, she has once again crafted a space that feels refined and inviting. Quicksand feels less like a bar and more like a sensorial journey. Its sophisticated interior marries texture and restraint in a way that evokes the intimacy of a favorite café in Montmartre. Neutral walls and floors, rich with subtle texture, create a grounding ambiance, while warm yellow light from delicately low-lit wall sconces bathes the room in an inviting glow. Yet, it’s Heather’s signature attention to detail that elevates Quicksand beyond mere aesthetic achievement. An array of portraits celebrates natural winemakers from across the globe, each face a testament to the ethos of authenticity that permeates this space. The brass accents, from the bar to the bathroom fixtures, glint with understated luxury, while ceramic plates and bowls reinforce an earthy charm. Even the bathroom, a space often overlooked, boasts a rich green palette and brass details that echo the sophisticated warmth of the main room. And then, there’s the sound. Quicksand’s professional-grade sound system fills the space with a curated playlist that feels as intentional as the wine list. The acoustics are flawless—neither overpowering nor distant—allowing for intimate conversation while maintaining a lively atmosphere. The snack offerings, while unassuming, are divine. Heather sources her artisanal bread from Titusville’s Daley Trade, a choice that speaks to her commitment to craft. The focaccia, paired with bright, tangy Greek yogurt-based dip, is a standout—a perfect marriage of lightness and indulgence. The beans, subtly seasoned and served with a slice of that same impeccable focaccia, are deceptively simple yet profoundly satisfying. And then there is the wine. Quicksand’s list is as thoughtful as its decor. The Gamay, served by the glass, is buoyant and complex, its notes a perfect counterpoint to the creamy brightness of the dip. Sharing a bottle of BD'3C Trois Cépages Brut Nature Champagne felt like opening a door to joy itself—fresh, balanced, and alive with nuance. Heather’s triumph with Quicksand lies not just in the execution but in the ethos. She has taken an industry often cloaked in exclusivity and made it accessible, without compromising its sophistication. Quicksand doesn’t just invite you in; it wraps you in a warm embrace, hands you a glass of wine, and reminds you that the best things in life are meant to be savored. In an area where parking is a rare luxury, and good wine an even rarer find, Heather has once again gifted Orlando locals something truly special.

my cousin, friend, & I popped in last night for a glass of wine & wow. blown away by the light, airy aroma as soon as you walk in. it’s small, quiet, & delightful. our server Aaron was also a dream — we told him each of our unique preferences & he had us each try at least two different wines based on that & they were spot on. Aaron was very informative & checked in with us regularly. he also introduced us to the owner & she was so kind. her smile was so warming & inviting. we sat inside for about 30 minutes & then discovered the backyard area — again, a dream. the space was perfect for chatting with my girls & just enjoying the vibes. I will definitely be back here, it’s the perfect hidden gem!

This place truly doesn’t feel like Orlando and I think that makes it feel really special. The design is inviting and cozy without a hint of pretentiousness. They will listen to what you’re in the mood for, let you sample the wines, and ultimately make sure you’re happy with your glass or bottle. The team working behind the bar are wonderful. I have been, and will be recommending this spot to everyone!! Also the parking situation is abundant so that’s a huge plus. Can’t wait to see this business flourish more and more.

Came here during their soft opening and absolutely LOVED it! The atmosphere here was incredible. The owner did a fantastic job at creating the coziest, most inviting, warm environment. Definitely perfect for a date night, girl’s night or just a little night out with a group of friends to split a bottle of wine with. Employees are great and the owner is wonderful, you can tell she loves what she does. Excellent selection of natural wines. I appreciate the care that goes into the selection. You always know you will be receiving excellent quality. Our entire time here we were just gushing over all the details and the overall vibe of this place. It is such a great addition to the area. Looking forward to...
