What a wonderful addition to Ormond Beach - I love this place! I am currently sitting in their dining room and am quite happy. First of all, it’s a lovely cafe atmosphere with comfortable seating and beautiful artwork. And it’s super clean! The system they have for ordering, cooking, and serving food is efficient and timely. The ‘Coming Soon’ sign was in front of the building for quite awhile as we awaited their opening, and it was clearly time well spent.
Today was my second visit. Last week, I tried it out with my 12-year-old granddaughter. She had French toast with strawberries and whipped cream and declared it to be “perfect.” It was obvious looking at it that it had been made properly and carefully.
I’m a little trickier to please because I have a long list of food allergies. At most breakfast restaurants, I’m lucky if I can get oatmeal cooked in water. So, when I saw the Good Vibes creative menu and learned that the food is, indeed, made from scratch for each order, I was optimistic. Megan was our server and she was so helpful, paying attention to allergens and working with the kitchen staff to be sure nothing would trigger my allergy reactions. Much appreciated, Megan! Optimism turned to joy when I received my fresh cut breakfast potatoes and a “smashed sweet potato with hot honey drizzle.” Divine!
Today, I took my husband to try it. He had the Good Vibes omelet with ham, sausage, bacon, and cheddar cheese, which he said was expertly cooked. I had the Sweet Potato Veggie Vibes which included smashed sweet potatoes, mushrooms, onions, and avocado. Because they’re prepared individually, mine was tailor made to avoid my allergies with no eggs or dairy. It was wonderful. Gina took our order and served us, and she was totally knowledgeable about every ingredient and every item on the menu. (Can you tell I like this place? :D)
The atmosphere and food are important, but the right people are key to any endeavor. Patrick is the chef, and he is quite a talent. He totally understands and respects food intolerances and allergies and is willing to work with diners. Thanks, Patrick - you are truly one in a million! The owners are present and watchful - greeting customers and troubleshooting. They obviously know the ins and outs of running a successful business.
As anyone with allergies knows, restaurants are not easy. It’s very hard to get straight answers on ingredients - sometimes servers answer without really knowing, sometimes food is shipped in and contains mystery ingredients, and sometimes they simply disregard the diners’ questions. If you are like me and need a place to eat where you can absolutely trust the source, the information, and the kitchen - Good Vibes is the place!
Sorry to take up so much space, but it’s so rare to find a winner of a restaurant like this, and I just had to share...
Read moreI am always eager to try a new place in town, unfortunately Good Vibes missed the mark. We tried ordering salmon , they were out. Sourdough, out. Strawberries for the acai bowl, out. Settled on a standard breakfast , over easy eggs, english muffin, hash browns with cheese and bacon. I was served hard eggs , the most bizarre looking cheese on hash browns I've seen and white toast. When I told the server she blamed the kitchen for not know how to read, and that she ordered the meal correctly. My wife had the Good Vibes veggie benedict, and again the poached eggs were hard, not soft like a benedict egg should be served. Waitress asked if she could replace and we declined. Ordered the biscuits and gravy , they said it was smoked sausage but I couldn't really tell, the gravy itself wasn't terrible (too bland for my liking though), however, the biscuits were hard as a rock and completely inedible. Manager checked on the table upon serving me my corrected easy eggs and english muffin, but again the with the blame game, he stated that he has to show the kitchen how to cook an egg on a daily basis. I don't mind when you admit a fault , "hey we're new and have some kinks to work out", but outright blaming the kitchen for not being able to cook an egg at a breakfast place is not what I would consider "Good Vibes". The place was pretty slow maybe 2-3 other tables, took a fair amount of time for service, average amount of time for the food, struggled to get enough creamer for my coffee and refills. Being relatively empty it was had pretty loud acoustics with the high ceilings and tile floor. Tons of staff (counted 10+, plus management) so I would expect service to be quicker. I would normally wait for a return visit to leave a review, but I can't find a...
Read moreHigh hopes—but not quite ready yet. I was genuinely excited to try this place, but today’s visit felt like a missed opportunity. It reminded me of a typical mom-and-pop spot that wasn’t quite ready for the volume they were getting.
The greet took a few minutes, and based on the red tickets on the expo screen, the kitchen was clearly behind. Once seated, nothing really stood out—except the expo calling out to the cooks to clean the flattop in the middle of service. That same expo later left the window, then reappeared minutes later on the cook line eating a sandwich—and immediately started touching food with bare hands. No gloves. Based on his appearance and demeanor, I’d guess he was one of the owners—likely the money side, not the restaurant side.
Now for the food: • Tuna Melt • Basic Burger with Blue Cheese Crumbles • Turkey Club All came out hot and fresh, but unfortunately, lacked flavor. Nothing was bad—just not memorable.
It’s a tough gig when you’re working with a large menu, and I get that. With some better systems in place, a few more front-of-house team members, and a little hands-on leadership, this place could shine.
Final thoughts: Hopefully today was just an off day. If they’re still around next time I’m in the area, I’d give them another shot. One small suggestion—ambiance matters. The wall color doesn’t quite match the vibe. Maybe add some cool beach music to tie in with the artwork and give the space...
