This establishment provided the worst birthday experience I've ever had. We had reservations for Saturday 27th. I want to preface my review by saying that we live in a rural town on a farm and we don't get out much these days because we are so far from the city.. I was quite excited on my milestone 45th birthday that so many had recommended the Rose Villa and we decided to make brunch reservations to start the birthday day off right. When we arrived and were seated, it took a while for someone to come and take our drink order. When the waitress finally showed up, she asked if we wanted water so she could pour some in the glasses that are on the table- I lifted my glass up and I could clearly see a lipstick stain on it. I asked the waitress if she could provide a new glass. We also asked her if the water was tap water, what she was offering us. She said probably because it "was from the bar". Okay, I ask if they have bottled water. She goes to check and says that they only have fizzy bottled water, not still water. I ask again if she's sure they only have fizzy water, how could a restaurant not offer a bottled water without gas? Strange. We order coffee. She brings us a pot of what could only be described as water with color in it. Flavorless, cold, and watery. I ask for the manager. He approaches our table without introduction. I ask if he's the manager. We discuss the confusion with the water/coffee situation and the fact that I was almost served water in a dirty lipstick stained glass and its my birthday. He apologizes and says the waitress got confused, the water from the bar is filtered. He says they will brew a new pot of coffee for us. Now the new coffee was a slightly darker coffee color, but still flavorless. So he says he will bring us a deviled eggs on the house and the whole meal will be free. We felt very awkward and said we were not looking for a free meal, just a pleasant Birthday experience. Not kidding- he comes back 2 minutes later with a plate of the deviled eggs. I thought, there is no way the kitchen has fired this as a new order. They were cold and tasted old, awful. Tasted like they had been leftover from the day before in the fridge and he had given them to us to appease us.. I ask the waitress if the deviled eggs are freshly made. She says the wait staff sometimes makes the egg dish and that's all she knows. Not very reassuring. We order the biscuits. Tasted worse than the ones out of the tube at the grocery store, with a horrible aftertaste. Also, biscuits were burnt and the sauces that were brought to accompany them also looked and tasted awful. See photos below. My husband ordered the potato ham egg dish, no one asked how he'd like his eggs, the dish came out with 2 extremely sunny side up eggs, almost raw on top. We also tried the waffles- those were cardboard, tasteless, like something microwaved out of a cardboard box. At this point the waitress had been apologizing for everything, and I believe she was so embarrassed she didn't want to check on our table anymore. The manager came back once to ask how stuff was and I didn't even know what to say. He tells us he will bring a dessert on the house. I also ordered the goat cheese grits and the grits were the only thing that that was edible. We waited ages for the manager to come back, he never did. We asked the waitress to bring us the check so we could pay and leave. She came back and said the manager refused to give her our check. I didn't even bother to ask about the birthday dessert, we left the waitress a tip and got out of there. I am just so, so beyond disappointed. The dirty lipstick stained glass, the service, the quality of the food - for a somewhat fine dining experience- the Rose Villa was not what we expected and I give it zero stars. We drove almost an hour each way to this restaurant for absolutely nothing. This was not what I was expecting for my birthday. We went home hungry and saddened by our experience. We don't blame the waitress. This is a management and kitchen problem....

Read moreOnly one word comes to mind when I think of my Saturday night dining experience here and that is…… Superb! I’ve been wanting to try it out for a while and my friends obliged. I hate suggesting a place and then the experience is subpar. Not the case here. We had a reservation for six and my table of four was immediately seated. Our server was prompt coming to our table and bringing water and taking our drink order. We decided to sample four different appetizers.
We had the fried green tomatoes with lobster, lobster Mac and cheese, scallops and deviled eggs. There was a decent amount of delicious lobster on the two appetizers. The scallops with crostini was sooo good. The only thing I wasn’t blown away with were the deviled eggs. Maybe just a tad too vinegary for my taste although I do know some people that eat them that way. Two people at the table ordered the filet and two of us had the fried chicken. One of the filets was undercooked (easy to do when they are that thick) but the waitress was super accommodating by offering a replacement. My friend chose to just have it thrown back on the grill since she loved the flavor already. The fried chicken however was on another level. Just tasty, crisp on the outside but moist and tender on the inside I might have even shed a tear. The gravy on the potatoes was stunning. Even better than my grandmothers but I would never tell her that. The chef just so happened to be chatting with a table behind me so I asked what herbs were in the gravy and she was more than happy to share.
So impressed with this place and it gave me a touch of being back in Kentucky in my grandparents farm house waiting for something amazing to be put down on the table. We’ve decided we are coming back for brunch soon!! Keep it up...
