Hulls seafood restaurant in Ormond Beach, Florida. Blackened mahi-mahi with red potatoes and collard greens. Cracked conch with remoulade yellow rice and Cuban black beans. Gator tail bites with bang bang sauce. 4.5 out of five stars. The only thing that disappointed me was the collard greens. Definitely a good place to eat for under $100 #f#floridao#ormondbeacho#outlawreviewsf#foodief#foodreviewsf#foodporng#gatorc#conchm#mahimahic#cubanbeansn#nomnomnom

Great restaurant but in such a terrible location! Had to go around the block 3 times to try & get to a parking spot without getting hit. Once in there we were pleasantly surprised! They seated us in the prettiest outdoor seating area. Reagan was our waitress & she was so sweet. A little slow on getting our drinks but no big deal. We started off with Clam Chowder & it was one of the best we've had. Then Conch Fritters, which were soooooo good! Whatever that dipping sauce was that came with them was spicy and so delish! I had the Loster Roll which was so yummy! A little smaller in serving size than I've seen at other places but that's ok. The French Fries were HOT & crispy! I had originally wanted onion rings, but they had run out of them (2pm). My husband had the Mahi Mahi. It came with the best Conch Fritters! It was a good cut of fish but it was WAY saltier than he likes & he likes his salt! We did mention it to Reagan & she said she would tell someone. We'll never know if she did but some how I doubt it. Didn't have dessert & was never asked if we did. That's ok, too. We both had iced tea but had to ask for a glass of ice because after sitting there for an hour it melted. If we ever get back that way, we'll stop in again. This was the beginning of Bike Week and very busy. Hopefully it won't be so bad parking the next time. Oh, and, they have valet parking. And if you have a Visa Dining Gift Card, they won't accept it. Reagans excuse was that the "system was old & wouldn't take it". Ok, no big deal. Oh, and, they allow pets in the outside (covered) seating area. He was a good dog for his size (a Great Dane) and NOT a service dog. He was just wearing a harness but it wasn't to indicate a service animal. We were talking to the owners & worked it into the conversation.

As a snowbird, looking for some good seafood Hull's is a good place to visit. My wife and I went there on a weekday night. Look I'm not a critical type of a person, but we we're new in the area and we were looking to dine outside. We drove by this place many times and noticed they had a bar type counter in front. Upon arrival I asked my wife if she wanted to sit at the counter and look at the traffic or sit at the tables inside. A young hostess came outside and said there's no server for outside, but we could order at the counter inside and they'll bring it out to us, or dine inside. We decided to go inside and check out the menu first then make a decision. Once inside we looked around, read the specials, looked at the menu and noticed some tables outside in the back. We went out to the rear area and another hostesses explained we could eat outside or eat inside. Then we decided and were seated at a table outside. (I was a little baffled, but hey I went with it). A short time later a waiter apologized for the delay and took our drink order, waters with lemon. A short time after that a different waiter brought out a tray with 6-7 large waters on it and devided them up among the tables (no lemon). About 15 minutes later the waiter came back and again apologized for the delay. He took our order, wife ordered salmon with a garden salad and I ordered the fried cod platter. I asked the waiter if he could substitute the fried oysters and he advised me they couldn't do it. I said, no problem and I told him just don't give me any instead of wasting them. Now a time, later the order was brought out by another waiter. Sure enough there was a large portion of oysters on my plate. Also note my wife never got her salad. Overall we both enjoyed the food that we had. The cod, shrimp, clam strips, coleslaw and grilled vegetables were very good. My wife told me she enjoyed here salmon. I forgot to take a picture of the food before digging in, but I was able secure one half way through. Omg, I just hated wasting all the oysters! The bill was nearly $50.00 for the both of us, mine alone was thirty. He subtracted the buck fifty for the missing salad. I felt this was reasonable for the amount of food that we got. Other than the teenager staff that were clearly inexperienced (but hey this is the world we live in) the overall experience was ok. I would still recommend this if you're interested in good seafood.

This is only the second place I’ve ever decided I will never return to, even if it’s free!. Looks pretty good, but looks can be deceiving. There are better places near by. The grilled Mahi meal ($18.99) is supposed to have red potatoes (according to the menu)…those aren’t red potatoes, and they’re tasteless …so I had her bring me fries instead… the mahi itself was nearly tasteless…the ONLY flavor was the charring from the grill. And the clam chowder was only so-so (I’d eat it again, but not for the price they charge).. by the way, I had to steal my dad’s fork because they never brought me any silverware…and the only “check up” we got was less than 2 minutes after they brought the food which was when I complained about the potatoes…she never checked back again… my mom had the shrimp po’boy ($15.99 I think)and all she said was “Betty’s got them beat on the shrimp” (sadly Betty’s was sold when she passed away so it no longer exists…the new owner closed it down and has been renovating the building ever since)… now my dad’s fried shrimp ($18.99) were good, but I would say the same thing about them being better at Betty’s… they were no better than the shrimp I get at Lulu’s down the street. This was a situation that, if I were dining alone, I would have stopped after the first bite or so, let them know of my displeasure, and left. Maybe the draw is that their “market” offers seafood you can’t get at the store? I don’t know. This was my first (and last) time here, I won’t try to understand the draw… definitely not worth the time, money or hassle to me.

I felt that the portions were kinda small on the seafood end of things—especially the shrimp. Most places err on the side of caution and give you just a good amount more rather than a smidge less. I got a half pound of shrimp. I don’t need 0.75 lbs of shrimp but for the cost, I didn’t want 0.45 lbs shrimp either. The other issue I had was the blackening seasoning. It is—atypical compared to other places in comparison. It was very strong and overly spicy. I ate my shrimp and tried some of my wife’s mahi mahi and I can not honestly give you my opinion of the flavor because I couldn’t really taste it. I will say that I have noticed that with shrimp if you pinch the tail, all the meat will squeeze out if it is fresh and not overcooked. Sadly I had to dig for mine. The seasoned red potatoes, if there was any seasoning, it tasted suspiciously like plain boiled potato. The fresh vegetable selection was zucchini and squash. It may have been fresh early this morning, but when we ate at 4:00 it was mush. Good-tasting mush, but still mush. Since the potatoes were largely plain, I did try them in the blackening leftover from my shrimp and it was good. This tells me they just used way too much of it. The shining star of the meal was the hushpuppies. They tasted like they were made in-house and you could discern kernels of corn and tiny bits of red pepper. We did have the most friendly and effervescent waitress, Heather. I would try Hulls one more time based on the service and those hushpuppies. I can’t recommend the blackening though.

I had the pleasure of dining at Hull’s Seafood in Ormond Beach this past Sunday night, and it was a fantastic experience. Not only is this a great restaurant, but it’s also a fish market where you can pick out fresh seafood to take home—or have them cook it for you, which is such a unique and convenient option! While they were out of a couple of fish dishes, our server, Robert D, made excellent recommendations for other fresh options that didn’t disappoint. The blue crab soup and the broiled seafood platter were absolutely phenomenal—perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I upgraded the fish on the platter to grouper for a slight upcharge, and it was worth every penny. However, the cracked conch fell slightly short of expectations. It was a bit chewy and could have used a more tender preparation or additional marination. What truly set the evening apart was the outstanding service. Robert D was incredible—attentive, friendly, and professional. He kept our table spotless, ensured our drinks were always filled, and made sure everything was to our liking. Although we were too full for dessert, he made a point to offer tempting options like Key Lime Pie and blueberry hush puppies, which I’ll definitely have to try next time. Whether you’re dining in, picking up fresh seafood from the market, or having them cook something just the way you like it, Hull’s Seafood is a must-visit in Ormond Beach. Fresh ingredients, delicious dishes, and top-notch service make it a memorable experience.
