We have reviewed this restaurant multiple times on opentable, I can say with certainty this is one of the best restaurants in Tucson, and I have been here at least 20 times without one incident. With that being said the streak is over.
It really is more about the service than the food. Spur of the moment celebration reservation we were greeted nicely, given one of our favorite tables, they have records of your previous dining experiences. Waitress was very nice and accommodating. Ordered drinks, one martini and a diet coke, drinks came slowly...10 minutes not bad but could have been better (which is more the norm). We ordered bread, not offered and needed a couple of minutes to decide on dinner. Waitress came back and we ordered....2 small side salads, salmon over potatoes, and a cheeseburger....
The salads came in appropriate and timely fashion, and were delicious. Then came the wait...tick...tick...tick, ordered more bread, tick tick tick...not a mention or waitress to be seen. Finally she came by to see if we needed anything. I said "this is taking a very long time". In total I think we were waiting 30-35 minutes for the mains. She blamed the kitchen staff (of course), and she would be checking again (hmmmmm). Finally food arrived (still very good), but I made the mistake of saying "that I should order desert now so that we wouldn't have to wait till midnight to get them" (bars of sin are awesome). You would have thought I just told her i wasn't going to tip her. Her mood quickly soured, not that she was ever my favorite (Hannah) and the previously departed Carlos. The rest of dinner she seemed "gruff" after we did order the "bars of Sin" a very bubbly new server arrived and the contrast was 180- degrees opposite (positive).
Our waitress then got us boxes and told us "the manager" would be taking care of desert for the delay in the food...Well hoorah, except for the fact they usually do that for a celebration and it would have been more appropriate for the manager to come see us themselves (especially with the amount of times we have frequented the establishment).
The place is still a gem, and we will return but after having a prefect record end, thought I would let everyone know reputations are hard to make, and sometimes are harder to keep. They did not meet expectations for this evening. Next time we will be watching more carefully as well as make sure I request Hannah and avoid the other un...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I first arrived I was a little surprised. I was expecting a soup and sandwich shoppe like one I experienced in northern Arizona - This restaurant was beautiful. The outside garden dining was gorgeous with umbrellas, lights, and oodles of fragrant, colorful blooms. As I stepped through the glass doors I went from garden to elegant indoor dining. I saw a wide open room with tall pillars and beautiful art on the walls, deep blue velvet booths and tables with wine goblets and fresh flowers, and servers in long sleeve white shirts. This was a far cry from what I was expecting! Like I said before, it was beautiful!
My party of three was seated immediately and our server was right behind. He took our drink requests and was back in a flash with our beverages. He also told us about the menu specialties and checked with us several times while we decided on our meal choices.
Wildflower is described as modern American cuisine with a diversity of flavors inspired by food from around the world.
One of my friends chose the spinach pappardelle which is a pasta with roasted chicken, melted tomato, and pine nuts. My friend said it was fantastic! She planned on taking some home but it was so good she ate the whole thing!
My other friend chose the chicken salad sandwich with red grapes, avacado, havarti cheese, and brown sugar wheat bread. She loved it! She said it was really good!
I chose the short rib ravioli with truffle cream, swiss chard, roasted mushroom, red chili flakes and breadcrumbs. I, too, really loved my meal! The flavors all blended together well and I could taste the short rib in the ravioli! It was excellent š
Also before our dinner we were served an amazing fresh, warm, soft loaf of bread which came with a dipping oil/sauce which was really nice! The oil had parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes in it, so it had a little kick to it! So good! Another thing I liked about the bread is that it came pre-sliced! They were nice, thick slices too! And if you want another loaf, just ask! Or maybe our server asked us. I'm not sure. Lol
Our server was friendly, competent, and went above and beyond.
Bottom line, This restaurant looks amazing! The food is amazing! and The service is amazing!
Thank you Wildflower for an amazing eating...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAnother amazing find for my trip to Tucson. And what is crazy is they are NOT new but been there for 26 years!!
Let's talk about the Wildflower at 7037 N. Oracle Road. Absolutely phenomenal in every essence of the word. The decor is very modern, and I loved the 20 foot ceilings. I didn't feel crowded at all even though it was very busy.
Again, an above average restaurant by far with a single page menu. I tell people all the time, you can tell a lot about the food you're about to receive by the size of the menu.
I started with in-house hummus and homemade pita. Spectacular, that first bite the freshness consumes your palate, and you start that shoulder swivel back and forth happy dance. I loved the fresh herbs and ripe tomatoes along the edge of the plate, and it was far larger than I had anticipated.
The Filet, O...M...G... I took that first bite, and no joke said "Shut Up" when I started eating it. Cooked to perfection isn't a strong enough description, but it's all I can think of at the moment. Stephanie was the bartender, and she made a wicked delicious Manhattan, and they use the real Cocktail cherries and not the cheap ones. The veggies of peas and asparagus, Fingerling Potatoes just complimented the filet so well. The one thing I didn't enjoy paired with it was the Parsley. That to me was very confusing for my palette. I would ask to hold that in the future.
And sweet little baby Jesus, that dessert... A strawberry olive cake with homemade whip cream and strawberry ice cream... I have never eaten a dessert so slowly in fear of finishing too quickly and having to order a second one. Stephanie came through again recommending the Espresso Martini. She could just be the coach because she does nothing but win. The crispy exterior of the cake played so well with the cool creamy ice cream and decadent fluffy buttery cake.. there was so much taking place sensation wise in one bite, I could say on the verge of an overload.
This is a place I would confidently say I would not just visit when I'm in Tucson doing something, but would make the journey solely to enjoy a...
