This is a review about their wedding venue. No disrespect to the family members who chose the venue. While it was beautiful, it was also extremely unsafe. The entire area is surrounded with tiny steps that must be navigated constantly. There is one small ramp, and it cannot get you to the middle steps, only the very top or bottom. There are many tables placed on the middle steps, therefore many people must use the small steps. The lights placed on the stairs do very little to keep people safe. There are a few signs in the hallways staying “please be careful, there are stairs/steps in this room.” No matter how careful or sober you are, you are likely to have a close call to falling. If you are over age 70, you are likely to hurt yourself.
Prior to dinner even starting, someone tripped, fell, and needed to be taken out on a stretcher to an ambulance. After dinner, I personally saw two elderly women trip & fall right next to my table. They each hit their head when they fell. One was bleeding on her arm. Another one had a very bruised and swollen leg when I checked in with her an hour later. This is only the elderly people near me that I saw. I know others fell, or nearly fell. There needs to be railings everywhere, or a complete revamp of the layout.
To top it off, we went out the front/main door to wait for our Uber, and the Uber pulled in the back lot. The Uber called us and we said we would walk back through to the other exit. We go back to the glass doors (that we went through 5min earlier) and it is locked from both sides. People from the wedding venue tried to open it for us and it would not budge. We walked through the restaurant/bar and asked if we could exit there, and I let them know the door to the wedding was now locked, they replied “yeah it is locked for a reason.” Not only was it rude, but it is also unsafe considering many people would run to the locked door in the event of an emergency.
I hope Becket’s reconsiders these safety issues before someone brings a lawsuit due to a severe injury.
Edited to add after response from the owner: I have added some photos to this post to help everyone. None taken by me, all were already posted on google. I added red arrows indicating where elderly people continuously fell. The lights and signs only help so much. Again, beautiful venue, but not recommended if you have relatives over 70. If you look at the photo of the large sign telling you to watch your step, you can see that I circled a group of people. That is the spot the first person tripped/fell, and it looks like this photo is from when the person was on the ground. Regarding the door, I circled a picture where you can see the interior door that was locked. The interior door goes to a hallway connecting to the restaurant and to the main exterior doors. They are beautiful glass doors. There are other exits that could be used to get outside, but we did witness someone from the wedding come towards us and push/pull on this door to try and open it. It is the visually obvious path to the front exit. There are other possible exits nearby if people are looking. That is...
Read moreUPDATE: Kris Larsen reached out to my husband today regarding our reviews and sent us a gift card card via mail to give Becket’s one more shot. So we decided to come tonight. Kris sat down at our table and chatted with us before getting dinner started. Our server, Kayla, was phenomenal. We told her the circumstances surrounding our last visit, and she was ready to help fix that too. My husband ordered the special burger and I reordered the steak (hesitantly, but I was craving it so I decided to give it another shot). Our food was PERFECT. Every detail was great. My steak was cooked to temp. It was fresh. The asparagus was cooked so well. The burger was flavorful and the onion rings were well cooked too! We will definitely be back. Thank you Kris and Kayla for giving us a reason to change our minds and our review. Tonight was a 5 star restaurant and worth every penny. Thank you so much. Kris knows how to run a business.
You would think that for the prices they’re charging for their food that it would be a little better quality. My husband ordered Woodford Reserve with his old fashioned and it was $22. Never have we ever paid that much for a cocktail, especially woodford. Our food came out - husband had the special Vodka Shrimp pasta.. pasta was cold, shrimp was rubbery and it had zero flavor.. seems to be a theme in Wisconsin. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare like I always do. It comes out - pretty much well done and our server admitted to my plate being super hot because it sat under a heat lamp for a good minute. I send it back, it comes back rare, like literally raw. I told the server to just take it off our bill, because I was done waiting for food to be cooked correctly and my husband had finished eating. Almost $80 for two drinks and one measly entree. I don’t know what this restaurant is doing but they need to get it together or lower their prices. And not to mention we never once saw a manager about the issues we...
Read moreAttacked on Beckets patio June 30th 2024. Sunday June 30th 2024 at approximately 245 my Wife and I stopped with our 4 month old puppy. We came VIA boat and as my wife completed securing the boat I took the puppy onto the patio at Beckets completely secured under my control with a leash and harness. Moments later chaos ensued. An irresponsible dog owners lack of care resulted in their dog attacking myself and my 4 month old puppy. I was knocked to the ground fighting to get the animal off of me at the same time trying to protect my puppy. The dog owner, in his intoxicated state came over and started yelling at myself and wife for attempting to neutralize the threat. The dog owner continue to cuss and in a threatening stance attempted to provoke my wife and I into an additional confrontation. The staff at Beckets clearly saw this situation unfold. Beckets staff clearly does not know how to properly respond when one of their patrons is attacked and in distress. I asked our server why the dog owner was allowed to stay and the only answer I received was "he said he's getting ready to leave". Which he clearly wasn't as he was sitting and laughing with his friend. The server kept telling me the dog got off the leash appearing to fish for an excuse as to the establishments lack of response to me getting attacked. I asked for a manager and the server just kept repeating the dog got off their leash. They never called authorities or render any support to myself, wife or dog. I was injured with a 2 inch laceration and my dog had a cut under her eye. With the situation being so volatile and the staff clearly unable to respond appropriately to the situation I left the area and called the police to make a report. My previous experiences have all been without question spectacular but seeing how they respond to a patron being attacked I find it difficulty to consider going...
