CatsEye — Restaurant in Ottawa

I've recently begun to explore Ottawa a little more.

I was happily surprised to discover this warm, inviting, friendly bar that offers an incredibly diverse drinks menu including canned beer selections I've not encountered elsewhere.

I've yet to leave without having a good conversation with a fellow customer and/or one of the employees (depending, of course, on how busy they are).

I've always been told you get what you pay for. In this case, I only paid for good drinks...the same I'd pay for similar drinks elsewhere...but in exchange, I got SO much more...great entertainment one night...the option to order dinner from a tasty food truck on another night...an introduction to performers I'd previously not been exposed to...and always a clean, comfortable, & respectful place to relax and let my admittedly limited amount of hair down.

It's very clear this place puts a LOT of thought and effort into their drink creations and wine/beer offerings, choice of entertainment and food vendors, and above all customer comforts.

If I ever leave here less than happy, I'll need to self-reflect...because it...

I had never been to Ottawa before but was visiting a friend who lives locally. First of this place is so nice. Very cool hipster vibes with a beautiful bar. When we went they were actually out of an ingredient to make a drink we were all interested in having. This led to a small series of events that left us slightly disappointed. I won't go into detail because it's too long and at this point irrelevant but what I wanted to say is when I was asked via email how my experience was I was honest, and the way it was handled was SUPERB. Its very obvious that this establishment really cares about how they make their customer feel. I feel that they were genuinely interested in making things right with me and that is the sign of a successful business! If I'm ever in Ottawa again I will absolutely make it a point to stop at this unique...

We happened upon CatsEye on accident. Cute, comfortable decor, but sadly rather terrible service. Customers were having to go to the bar to ask for their check or to order additional drinks. We ordered 2 glasses of wine that were not good. When it came time to pay, we set our credit card on the bar top, in full view of the bartender, never once did he acknowledge us or the desire to pay. After about 15 minutes we left money on the bar top, thinking we left enough for 2 glasses of wine in Ottawa IL. Nope, the bartender came running after us because we owed more, which we of course paid. It took for us to get up and leave to get service. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Sorry, but $35 for 2 glasses of wine in Ottawa...
