The Cheese Shoppe and Deli — Restaurant in Ottawa

We love this place and found out about this hidden gem when we’re at the Kris Kringle Market they have in December. They were selling soup and food there. The soup smelled awesome so we decided to get out of the cold and stopped at their shop. It is a small cheese shop with cheese curds and all kinds of different cheeses and meat and other confections. But they also have a small restaurant with tables in the front and a counter to order your food. Or you can carry out. We have had their soup (wish they had the potato soup they had at the market), sandwiches and hot food items as well. We watched people coming out with boxes of carry out chicken dinners so we had to go order some to take home for the following day. It was good but I believe would have been better the day it was made. We have never been disappointed with anything we had there. If you are looking for a sandwich hot or cold or fried chicken, I would recommend this hidden gem. They apparently have a variety of burgers and a different dinner special each weekday. We usually go on Saturday but would love to try their Friday Mac and cheese or the meatloaf special so maybe we can make it there during our staycation next month. I would highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Apparently they have been doing catering for years and the lady I spoke with said they had them cater their wedding and it was awesome. I won’t hesitate to use them for a catering event and if they do a thanksgiving special, may have to check that...

I was working in the area (per usual) and I bought the company I was working with, lunch. They requested this place. I’m not from around here so I just went with it. I am so glad I did! I got the #3 panini and it was sooooo good!! So fresh and crispy! To my surprise, there were homemade potato chips under my sandwich. They were to die for!!!! They were so good I went back the next day just to buy a big bag of them. I also bought a bag of the garlic cheese curds. The only word I have for them is “heavenly”!!! They were sooooooooooo good!!! I think I ate half the bag by the time I made it home! (It was a 1lb bag lol!!!!). When I brought it in my house, my kids flocked to it like a bee to a honey comb and they ate the rest of the bag!!! Now I have to go back and get more!!! If you like cheese curds, I HIGHLY recommend this place! They are fresh and delicious!!! There is nothing like a small business cheese shop!!! The freshest! The food has always been great, but the service upset me a lot recently. We ordered catering for a celebration of life, and were told we had to pick up at 3:30 since the order wasn't "big enough" for delivery. I went to pick up at the set time, and the name was wrong, but oh well, that's fine. I stand around for ten minutes and finally get told it won't be ready until 4:30, so I go back to the event and wait. We had someone else go pick up, and they come back just for us to find the order was a completely different order. We call, and they say they'll fix it if we bring the other order back! No way. They came with our food and picked up the wrong order, and the boys who did were very kind at least. This was a special event, so it was pretty upsetting that out of all the catering we got, the cheese shop messed up that bad. It set the event back by...
