The French Press — Restaurant in Ottawa

We visited this restaurant with high expectations, but unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the 4.9-star rating.

We arrived at 11:00 am and didn’t receive our food until 12:00 pm. While we thought the delay might be due to having a party of 5, we were shocked to see a table of 4, seated half an hour after us, receive their meal and leave before we even got our first crepe. The coffee was served first, that’s nice, but they only offered French press, mugs at first, and came back 30mins later (we finished the coffee) and ask about do we need crème and spoons. We thought they were going to serve the five of us together, because it took long time to prepare, but they actually have served different meals with a 10 minutes gap. The food was underwhelming. One plate of crepes was simply not enough to fill me up.

We have no idea why this restaurant got 4.9 on google map. The service looks nice and polite, but the inner management and efficiency is one of the worst we’ve ever been. We spent two hour for a brunch, and they had the audacity to start the tip...

This restaurant is a wonderful addition to downtown Ottawa. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to try them out. The decor is so warm and cozy, and the service was top of the line. Now for the food.....it is out of this world delicious 😋.....I enjoyed a regular coffee, Ratatouille Crepe with 2 eggs added, their special Raspberry Lemon Crepe and then took home a mini Spiced Apple Cake with the best cream cheese whipped cream on top. I can't wait to go back and try more from their menu. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a tasty...

A very unpretentious specialty restaurant. The food is excellent, hot, and served timely. The menu is quite different from what you will find in most Illinois towns away from Chicago and this is not Cracker Barrel. Service was excellent from a personable woman who answered questions and gave explanations. Thankfully, this is an adult restaurant. Children will be bored and they’re not likely to want anything on the menu. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 2 hour brunch today. My only suggestion is to reduce the volume...
