** Should be my First and Only Six Star Review We were hungry after a morning event and looking at some of the other chains we've ate at before and just happened to pass this place and think, why not. Sunday morning about 0930.
Not more than two steps inside and the front manager Stauros greeted us from across the restaurant, directed us immediately to a table and was super friendly. Everything about the experience was just phenomenal. Every single employee during a pre-xmas season busy breakfast morning was super efficient, speedy, knowledgeable and happy. I have never seen a restaurant more well run and efficient in 55 years. We must of had 5 different employees giving us attention, items, cleaning things off our table, taking our money and our primary waiter was great. All staff were efficient and the one female wait member was not assigned to our table but just fluid and efficient at helping every table and weaved in and out of the masses with four plates up her arm. To most people, their food was probably their priority but I just found it like a dinner and a show at just well this place is run. Efficient, happy staff means we will be back here for so much more than this one breakfast visit now. Stauros visited us numerous times and was so interested in every customer, visiting each table and making everyone feel at home. I have never in my life been so eager to get home and leave a positive review. In all service industries I have reviewed in the past, not just food related, I have never had such a...
Read moreThis was my 1st time trying this place today & I probably won't be back after the level of service I received.
I was trying to make a To Go order over the phone, but they said they weren't accepting orders & would have to place it in person because they were busy. I honestly didn't understand this since if you're busy I figured you'd rather want someone to come in & out rather than be standing there taking up more space during a busy period. Online ordering also wasn't available until Tues so I'm wondering if they shut that off or something for the same reason.
Anyway I went in to place my to go order. I get to the bar & was waiting over 5 min before someone even acknowledged I was there. Several people walked by me but either didn't look at me or if we did make eye contact flat out ignored me. I get that you're busy but at lleast acknowledge a customer & let them know someone will be right with them. Not even a greeting or a warm smile. I contemplated just walking out before the manager or owner came & asked me had I been helped. He sent some over after a min or so.
1 of the employees that had ignored me earlier was still kind of eyeing me every now & then while I was waiting for my food which made me wonder what their problem was & if there was some underlying issue.
Needless to say I didn't feel very welcome. The only reason I gave 2 stars is cuz the food was decent. I don't venture into KS much to eat anyways but this is one less place I don't have to make...
Read more5-star service, 4-star ambiance, 3-star food. To be fair, I didn't get the self-acclaimed "Flapjacks," and my dining companion says the pecan pancakes were quite good. I went the "and more" route with the Scrambled Lox and Onion. It was ok, fairly monotone in flavor and a touch greasy and salty, but good enough that I still ate all of it, which was quite a hearty portion (way more than 2 scrambled eggs). Actually boxed my side of fruit (small plate of watermelon, pineapple, and cantaloupe—bigger than a typical small fruit side dish) to go because I was so full. Again, our server was perfectly attentive and took good care of us, regularly topping off my cup of coffee.
Went on a Saturday mid-morning when Google estimated it was less busy than usual. Looked like a packed house, but it was just a quick 5-minute wait for a table. We didn't ask about seating outside or at the little counter, but might have been no wait at all if we'd done that. Saw all ages, from families with young kids to senior citizens enjoying a meal. The space has a casual, country-themed, greasy-spoon cafe vibe. Restrooms seemed a little run down, but both are unisex and spacious, including a changing table, good if you're trying to herd little ones when nature calls. Overall Flapjacks 'n More is not the type of place I personally am likely to visit often, but I'd be happy to join friends if they...
