My wife and I tried this spot on a Saturday. Not super busy and did have good seating. It’s hidden amongst some business buildings, which made us question how our experience would be, but overall I’m happy with our visit. The atmosphere was surprisingly nice and staff were helpful and polite.
I love supporting local shops, especially ones running good quality coffee like Oddly, but here’s why I’m giving it a 4 and not a 5: they forgot our quiche in the microwave. Not a huge deal, but there was only one customer behind us and they were busy talking with a buddy of theirs. everything was in to-go cups/containers and we were dining in. My wife’s drink was large so understandable but with my coffee drink and the quiche (which were good quality) it’s a shame to have them in plastic/paper utensils. Maybe they ran out of dishes but this was 2 hours before closing.
Overall experience was good. The baristas were cool and made us feel welcome. I think a little more attention to service and presentation would...
Read moreThis place has amazing, high quality, recently roasted coffee! The owner/proprietor, David, is kind and friendly, and has extensive knowledge of coffee origins/roasts and is willing to help you figure out what kinds you prefer. He has even taken the time to sort of interview my mom (who is very particular about her coffee) to find out what she would like! My daughters enjoy his lattes and iced coffees. Also, he has homemade (from a friend’s Mom) salads and baked goods. Though this place is not in the usual strip mall, it is a desirable nook that boasts of a lovely, outdoor courtyard complete with inviting trees and even heat lamps (for colder months). The indoor seating area is cozy and quiet and perfect for visiting with a friend or getting some work done on your laptop. An added bonus is they carry my favorite delectable decaf coffee beans from Oddly Correct! Highly...
Read moreSeleno is a must-visit for Kansas City coffee.
I have tried nearly every coffee shop in KC, and Seleno is right up there with Oddly Correct as the best coffee in KC (and they use Oddly Correct coffee beans!)
Don't let the weird location fool you, by the time you get to the shop, the inside is super cozy, clean, and pretty. There is a good amount of seating indoors, along with 2 sections of outdoor seating. The back patio has a really nice vibe along with lots of outlets.
I've tried the pour over and the cold brew so far. Both are out of this world good. They clearly care about delivering a quality product.
Lastly, the owner is very kind and personable. I felt like he was really happy I was there, even as just some random dude walking in.
10/10, Seleno will be on top of the KC coffee...
