Mouth-watering fresh Thai food! Wow if you want something fresh, healthy, delicious and satisfying, head over to Thai Orchid. I rarely leave review, but we had such an amazing experience this week, that I just had to share. We were greeted by the biggest smiles and warmest welcome when we arrived. The restaurant was clean and cozy, with decorations from Thailand. The atmosphere was so inviting. Our servers were very attentive and kind. We even spoke with the new owners, as it was later in the evening. We learned the restaurant has been in their family for more than 25 years and that Jon & Aom just assumed ownership from his aunt. Their family is from Thailand and his uncle remains the head chef as he has since the beginning. What nice people. We sampled several things. The soft spring rolls were light, and delicious, especially with their freshly made peanut sauce. The team had great suggestions on food, everything looked so good it was hard to decide which to select. In the end, we opted getting both the Pad Thai and the Basil Chicken.
I've had Pad Thai before and liked it, but this was unique and mouth-watering. There were plaques on the wall going back decades for their award-winning Pad Thai. We learned that they make it from scratch with each order. Most other places have a pre-made mix, and let me tell you, you can really taste the difference!! The Chicken Basil was also a delight to eat! I really enjoyed the veggies and rich basil taste (see picture below). The portion sizes were generous and I was so happy to enjoy left-overs for lunch the next day!
We felt really well taken care of! The food was authentic, rich in flavor, and light on the stomach. Whether you have loved Thai food for years, or are looking to try something new tonight, you will have an incredible experience at Thai Orchid. We really felt like they welcomed us into their home for an authentic...
Read moreI have been coming to this thai restaurant for 4 years, it is hard to find a decent thai restaurant in KC area. This place did well for several years, I always come here during lunch when I am in the area, and always order the same dish.
That being said the quality started falling off several months ago, and I chalked it up to people learning w/e. But today I came in and the noodles on the pad thai were sticking together, clumpy bland, and broken. The food came to fast to be fresh, it seems like it was a left over microwave thing or something. I mean i ordered it and i had a slop on the plate in less than 2 minutes.
The cooks are not the same as in the past, and they can't cook noodles, the pad thai sauce just sux, it taste like an over spiced ketchup. The pad thai is dry, it absorbed the moisture in my mouth lol, never had that happen before. This place has definitely lost its prominence it once had.
Im sorry for writing this but pick a different place to eat. One thing I can say is I used to see the owner in the restaurant every time I came in, now she is not around. This place has become a bust, I sent my food back 2 times and had one of the servers try to convince me that is the way they do it here, I had to tell him I have been eating pad thai for years, and have been coming here specifically for years before he embarrassed himself further.
Sorry for the long writing, I usually do not leave any comments, I am just hoping this will reach the right people so they can turn this around because as it is now I am leaving a once awesome restaurant, and going to go to taco bell for lunch.... yea...
Read moreThis has been our favorite spot for take out for the last few months of the pandemic! We love love love the Fried Chicken Fried Rice, Thai Basil Wings, Crispy spring rolls and all the curries are good as well. Lunch portions are a good size / value. Good online ordering system.
Quick story to share - did an online order about a week or so ago and as I head to pick it up a downpour started so I grabbed a raincoat and umbrella so I could run in from my car and grab the food instead of doing curbside. I still pulled up at the curb so that I wouldn't need to run across the whole parking lot in the rain and as I am sitting in my car trying to find a mask an SUV starts backing up out of a parking space really fast coming right at me and I slam on my horn and they barely stop in time to not hit me. Whew. So I regrouped and found a mask and was about to head in and one of the workers had come out to my window to ask the name on my order in the absolute downpour in just a short sleeve shirt and she was getting absolutely soaked! I didn't realize till later that they probably thought me honking the horn was wanting ( or more like demanding) someone come out to the car for curbside. I felt so terrible for her! But wanted to commend her for outstanding service and sincerely apologize for the mix up!!! Thanks for...
