This is a weird restaurant. We have been there dozens of times over the last 10 years. Every time we go there it's busy. This is very strange because the food is not great. Mainly because the sauce is bland and is the key ingredient in most menu items. My guess is the clientele are old customers from the neighborhood who don't like spicy food. So bland Italian is good Italian. We keep coming here because my wife for some reason likes it when she want's cheap Italian food. They do have salt/pepper /parmesan cheese and garlic shakers at the table so you can spice up the food. I do like the Italian salads here, the lettuce is cold as are the delicious tomatoes. Some of the other cold salads are ok as well.
So the main problem here besides the bland food is the service. It appears to be completely unmanaged. I believe the owners work the pizza station and are completely hands off. Nor do they look friendly in any way. So you are at the mercy of the staff behind the counter which are generally young adults filling the orders. You order at the register and the line workers fill the orders pretty randomly then hand it off to runners which take it to the table. Believe it or not there was a time, likely do to the personnel that this actually worked. So you may order a salad a pasta dish and maybe some garlic cheese toast. If you order pasta you should also get a bread basket. This is where it all breaks down. The cooks may fill a pasta order pretty quickly and the runner will get it out to the table (just yours probably not the person you are with). Then you may get your salad, then your dining partner will get their pasta and the cheese toast will show up later. The cashier was in disbelief the other day when we told him we never get the bread basket like for the last 10 visits (no exaggeration) . My wife was already talking to him about it when I stepped over to the conversation and asked "Yeah, do you even give bread out with pasta anymore". The cashier was irritated and said 'Yyyes we give out bread" and annoyingly told a runner make sure they get bread. That was weird also, because I believe he believes they do give out bread with every order and thought we were exaggerating which believe it or not were 100% honest. I'm willing to accept that maybe we have been unlucky. Very odd though. That't the main problem though, total random delivery of food. And most of the time the runner will ask "Is that everything?" or "Are you waiting on anything else?" . The answer is always yes. This is only worse the busier they are. But I must say the regulars appear to not have a problem with all of this. It is cheap and fast in an inefficient way. It's the lack of management that is the problem for me. I personally don't want to go back. I think I would rather hit Marco Polos which also isn't perfect but at least it's not a negative experience. By all means check out Italian Delight...
Read moreSo I love this place and the food is amazing, but let me explain why I'm only rating 3 stars. We went here tonight around 7 p.m. and as usual they are super busy and there wasn't anywhere to even sit, which was fine because it's understandable. However, I've been coming here for about 11 or 12 years. I get the EXACT SAME THING every time I come, spaghetti with extra sauce and cheese on top and 1 extra order of bread. Not once have I ever had any questions or problems with this order. Tonight was a different story.
The cashier and order taker, his name was Roswell or Rosbell I don't know something like that, he was so unbelievably rude. When we placed my order he said they can't put cheese on my spaghetti. So I asked him when they started that and he said "I don't know but we can't do that, I asked last week and he said no." I'm assuming he means the cook. I told him that I come here all the time and I've never been told that and it's never been an issue. He kept getting an attitude with me and finally he was like "well do you want me to go ask?" And I said yes. I saw him go to the back and ask and they had no problem doing that.
So then we get our food, and I can definitly tell there isn't extra sauce and I didn't get my extra bread either. So the waiter that brought out our food was very friendly and helpful and brought the extra bread and my wife went up to get sauce for her plate since they didn't put any on her spaghetti, then she goes up to me extra sauce as well. When I looked at the receipt the kid who took our order didn't even bother putting extra sauce on the order. So by this time we're already exremely aggravated and really wanted to just hurry up and get out of there.
This is just upsetting to me because I had the worst customer service tonight that I've ever had out of the 11 to 12 years I've been coming here all because of the kid who took our order. To be honest, I almost just walked out the door and went somewhere else. I understand that you're super busy, but there is NO excuse for being so rude and unprofessional. It makes me a little nervous to go back honestly and if there is a repeat of what happened tonight I will never go back. That's a good way to lose a very...
Read moreFirst, let me preface by saying this is my first bad review. I wasn't impressed with the lack of social skills from the owner. It was our first time at the restaurant and we weren't familiar with their system of ordering which is to stand in line and order like a delicatessen then you pay and they give you a number. When the food is ready, they bring it to your table. Everything was a la carte. It has been a couple years or longer since we visited so maybe they've changed but I didn't like the owners attitude or her service. She was rude and kept rolling her eyes at us every time we asked her about certain items on the menu. She then became annoyed and told us to hurry up because there were other customers waiting. I kid you not, after maybe the second question, we could see she was becoming more agitated with us so we let others go ahead of us but when it was our turn again she was the rudest person ever. We almost walked out without ordering but I thought we needed to give this place and it's insensitive owner a try since there aren't many authentic Italian restaurants in the area and we thought the owner was having a bad day. I had an older person with me who's Italian and we were not impressed with the food, the restaurant, or the service. The food was mediocre (we didn't try the pizza), the restaurant's decor was very dated and didn't seem as clean as it could've been and the service at the resister was the worst ever! I haven't been back here since nor do I ever...
