Hy-Vee Market Grille — Restaurant in Mission

Really bummed about the service at this location. We frequent the Olathe and Overland Park locations and our first visit to this location was the first time we had a bad experience at Market Grille. Came on a Wednesday night for half price sushi special (our favorite). It was just barely after 9pm, they close at 10. I'm always cautious about coming to a restaurant near closing time (I managed restaurants for quite some time- I get it) but we already knew exactly what we wanted and had an hour to eat. The manager told us the sushi special wasn't available anymore because "the sushi guys must have gone home or something.. Idk I can't find them". Okay.. We ordered an appetizer and were told that we couldn't order anything on the menu fried because the guys already shut down the fryers for the night so they could clean up and leave... We weren't offered an apology, just the premade sushi out in the grocery area made that morning -that was "about to be thrown away- but you can take it togo for half price". The only reason I give it any stars at all is because of the customer service of the wait staff. They were very friendly and attentive. The general manager Christal F was complete opposite. I am a shopper at Hy-Vee mission for the last 6 years. Everyone has always been very kind and I have gotten to know a lot of the people who work there. I ordered filet mignon this evening which I got practically burned. The waitress took it back and I waited over 35 mins to get the new steak delivered by the General Mangeer Christal with no apologies whatsoever! When my bill arrived I told the waitress I was disappointed that the did not even take into account my experience. She mentioned it to the GM who then says to her - well I had her steak made over didn't I!! I paid and as I was leaving Christal was at the front and totally ignored me - practically turned away to avoid me. All she had to do was apologize for the experience. I will be calling the Director tomorrow as well. I hate that I will have to switch my Hy-Vee store because of this one person who should be the shining example of her...

Best Beer selection for your money

Service: The service here has always been pretty good. We have been about seven times so far and we see the manager each time, always going around to each table. Food: The food here is the biggest wildcard. The chinese food is just the same food from the hot food section of the grocery store (I mean the EXACT same food, like thy go out there and scoop it up then charge you an extra $2 for eating in the restaurant). I usually get the pepperoni pinwheels and nachos off of the appetizers menu. The nachos have been inconsistent but the pinwheels are always good. My girlfriend said that the steak she had for the Saturday night special was fantastic. They have a SPECTACULAR local beer list made of beers from the region and the Happy Hour price is $2, easily the best happy hour in town IMO. The only down side to this place is that some of the food is hit or miss. I had a burger here that was sub par but I have also had food here that was great.
