I've not been going to Starbucks for a while simply because I had not been getting the service I'd hoped for in some time. Today while running around on my job and after recent changes to their policies thought I would stop into the nearest one on my route since I had to use a restroom.
In a hurry I ordered a simple venti caramel macchiato with an extra shot and a cheese Danish. When I first walk up somebody is sitting there wiping down registers and surrounding areas. After a few seconds of awkward silence they said someone will help me shortly. Apparently cleaning those screens off was more important than my being helped.
I figured I would be patient, so when somebody finally came over he informed me his register was dismantled and that he would have to take my order and go to the drive-thru register to put my order in. No biggie. I mentioned twice I needed a receipt. He comes back after running my card and informs me he's out of receipt paper. Obviously incredulous I explained this was on a business card and that's why I needed a receipt. Anyone who uses business accounts understands how important these receipts are. I should have been told that when I asked for it, so I could use a different card.
So I wait patiently for my order and the first thing that comes out is my macchiato followed by my Danish. The Danish has been heated but I had not been asked if I wanted it heated. I did not. I took it out to my car to cool off while I drove and took my first drink of my macchiato, which if you've ever ordered a macchiato with an extra shot there is a distinct taste of coffee when you take your first couple sips when you get that extra shot that my macchiato did not have. I am pretty sure I did not get the extra shot I requested we couldn't tell you cuz I didn't get my receipt.
All of these singularly were minor issues but cumulatively made the visit bad. I feel like I wasted my money thinking policies would change the service issues.

Read moreI have been getting the same drink for a long time. A solo espresso macchiato made with coconut milk. It has always been $2.29 at each location I visit including this exact one. Occasionally I will get two making the total $4.59ish. Recently I went to this Starbucks and I was informed the total would be $6.00 even. I ask why so much more? The worker responded "it is corporate policy to charge more if over 4oz of coconut milk is used. She was irritated by my question and responded in a rude tone. I don't even believe there is over 4oz of coconut milk in the drink! To this I responded saying "I always get this drink and it has always been the same price with no falter". I had never heard of this policy and I let her know this. She decided to go ahead and give it to me for what I had paid in the past just this "one time". I go back thinking she's probably not working and she probably didn't know what she was talking about. I order my drinks, 2 solo espresso macchiatos made with coconut milk, and she gives me the total, same girl by the way. $6.66!! WHAT!!! That's more than she quoted me last time! I decided to do something nice for the staff where I work.....I ORDERED AHEAD 4 drinks and PREPAID. They had plenty of time to get my order together and get it right. I pull up after waiting in line and they start handing me 1 by one and THEN ask it i want a drink carrier..........then the size of a drink I noticed right away was wrong.........then after already showing my receipt 3 times I had to count to the person at the window how many drinks he was trying to hand me and why the order was wrong....YOU ARE HANDING ME 3 DRINKS MY ORDER HAS 4. Something that should have been a very smooth and easy transaction for Starbucks ended up being a disaster and a waste of my time. Got the drinks to work and the one hot coffee out of the 4 had to be reheated so when we took the lid off she also noticed it was 3/4 the way full. Paid $16 dollars for what!?
