Not ready for prime time.
Staff was very polite and friendly. For 1pm on a Saturday the place looked to be about 15% of capacity and there were a lot of staff standing around for lack of things to do. The ambiance and layout were an example of making more with less. This concludes the good news.
Chips and salsa tasted like they came from Costco. The texture of the guacamole suggested it originated from either a blender or a squeeze pouch. Veggie burrito, chorizo tacos, and kids ground beef taco took a half hour to make it to the table. Server swooped in once during that time to refill my soda. Wrong plate comes out for my wife. Server picks it back up and goes in search of it's home. My food arrives followed by a... deconstructed burrito? Most of the ingredients arrive neatly arranged on a plate. Send it back, at this point the kid is hungry and fussing. Server says they'll correct the order and apologises. Plate vanishes, to come back a minute later with the aforementioned ingredients (almost assuredly the same ones from before) now rolled into a tortilla with a dollop of queso on top. Veggies falling out one end, 3" of tortilla on the other. Looks like a caricatue of a dish. Stop the server again, who was taking photos of the restaurant, ask for an explanation in which universe that qualified as a burrito. Very apologetic and collects the plate, then proceeds to stare at the dish while standing between my spouse and kid, who we're trying to feed. They're obviously stumped on what their next move should be. Ask 3 times to move because we're now focused on making sure the kid is fed. Ask for the manager who is contrite and says they'll comp the avante garde burrito.
Felt like a soft opening with a bunch of newbies in charge. Give them a few months to get their act together before...
Read moreDefinitely disappointed. Been to this restaurant several times and each time is worse than the time before. Food was good. Ordered the new “El Jefe” and no real complaint other than my steak being undercooked in the thicker areas, but I’d prefer it being undercooked rather than overcooked; however, the service was so poor that it ultimately ruined the meal. At first it took a long time (about 10 mins) just to even see our server for the first time. We figured he was busy with inside tables, so we paid no mind to it and ordered drinks along with our toddlers food and queso. Took between 5-10 mins just to get our drinks to the table. So long that we finished the provided chips and salsa. At this point is when I started to worry because our server asked us a second time what our toddler had ordered. Since he didn’t write it down and clearly forgot. After bringing our queso, he never brought anymore salsa and never brought any refills after being asked for them on two separate occasions. After another 15 mins he comes to the table and we asked about our food. He grabs his head as if he forgot then runs back inside and surprisingly the food was brought to the table shortly after. At this point we just wanted to leave with the extended waits, no refills and poor service. Not sure if our server was just having a bad night, overwhelmed with too many tables, or just couldn’t remember our requests as simple as they were. Definitely not worth the $100 spent for my wife, my toddler and I considering we didn’t even order any alcohol. Unfortunately, if this is the service they provide regularly, I would not recommend this restaurant and I doubt we will...
Read moreBeen here many times before. Food is pretty good and never had any service issues, until tonight. Our server, Keyla was good, and attentive.
The issue was the manager on duty, Frank. Rude, argumentative, and I would consider his extreme lack of customer service comical, but it’s still too soon. 🤨
We are a party of 6 (4 kids). As always, we order a kids meal and a drink for each of our kids. Although it is not listed on the menu, drinks are included with the kids meal. Apparently, apple juice is not, instead it is $3. Truth be told, that’s not a big deal. However, we found this out when getting our bill. Would have been nice to know when we ordered it as we would have changed to water since our two year old doesn’t drink soda.
My wife mentioned this to our server and the server of course said we needed to pay. We asked for the manager, who we found out to be “Friendly” Frank. My wife mentioned to him that we have been here plenty of times before and never had to pay for ordering juice instead of soda for our two-year-old.
Initially, he was insistent on us paying the $3 and he adamantly wanted us to point out what server(s) did not previously charge us because this is apparently a huge deal. Since it seemed to be such a big deal we said we would pay it and just not come back. After all this nonsense he took off the stupid $3 charge.
To me, the issue is not the $3, it’s the terrible customer service by a MANAGER who is generally the employee who should be deescalating a situation, not adding fuel to the fire.
I HIGHLY recommend going right down the street to Habaneros. Their food is delicious and their service...
