After hearing so many raves about this place and how good the ice cream was and how cute it was inside I finally gave it a go. Normally we frequent the other two competitors around, but figured maybe try something new. It reminded me why so many businesses in Oviedo that try to be trendy fail. Atmosphere was a bust. We walked in to pure silence. Even the other patrons were awkwardly eating quietly next to a giant, pixelated AI image reminiscent of a hair magazine model eating purple ice cream. They definitely did not have it professionally printed. Also who had the idea to put fabric velvet furniture in an ice cream shop? Under the bright, hospital lighting you could see every stain.
Anyway, there was no music, no greeting, no sign of life. Especially from the girl behind the counter. She didnât greet us or offer to answer questions. Thankfully ordering seemed straight forward, so we went ahead and ordered and hoped for the best. Only then did she acknowledge our existence. I ordered what was labeled as âBannaâ (what I assumed was âbanana,â but misspelled).
The price for one scoop in store differed than advertised online. When it rang up at the register, it said $4.75 (the price online) and then an additional $1.00. I asked what that meant and the cashier said âoh well thatâs just what the system has it as.â So⌠okay whatever. We paid out $20 for 3 single scoops of ice cream and went outside to eat the subpar ice cream that lacked any flavor or personality that honestly could have been bought at any grocery store.
I will gladly either by ice cream at a competitor with more friendly service, or just save my money and go to the grocery store where $5.75 will get me at least a weekâs worth of ice cream. Also their topping options were lame. Paying extra to add in some what is clearly the Halloween seasonal Boo-Berry cereal and calling it...
Read moreWe stopped to check out Violetâs for the first time last night. While the area is really nice, new, and modern, we were disappointed that there were very limited outside seats. We had to head the car to eat or stand there. What a shame considering it was a beautiful night and other businesses like the coffee shop next door have ample comfortable and inviting seats outside. My husband and kids enjoyed the ice cream but due to dietary concerns I personally didnât have any. Nothing was labeled clearly as gluten free, nut free, or dairy free. And while I understand they post a sign about contaminates, itâs important to also label items that may also directly contain allergens. I did ask about ingredients but one of the employees only had access to a 3 ring binder for me to look through. With a line of people behind me, I chose to avoid holding them up and any issues so I didnât get anything. I thought since this was advertised as small batch ice cream, the ingredients would be limited and simple. Not the case from my glance at the binder. It would have been nice had a manager been present to welcome customers and provide a better atmosphere and more information. At best it was just so so. We likely wonât return and will focus on locally owned establishments with somewhere to sit and knowledge of the...
Read moreI wouldnât exactly label this as locally or homemade. The ice cream is from Sarasota and can be found at a few other shops. They are definitely higher priced compared to other shops. We got a 1 scoop and a 2 scoop. The 2 scoop was dairy free and we saw no difference in pricing, however after checking out and calling the store I found out df is $1.50 extra per scoop. So if youâre getting df youâre paying $6.25 just for 1 scoop which is insane. Iâm all for paying extra for things like df and such but I gotta know that before paying. They also donât take cash which is ridiculous as sometimes thatâs all I have. Parking is odd too as it seems to share parking with an apartment complex which I can only imagine that being a nightmare for the residents once the commercial buildings are actually full with businesses. My biggest issue is the false impression of being homemade when they get it from a creamery in another city and saying Amish as if theyâre...
