This Zaza location is a gift to the people of Oviedo. The food scene in Oviedo is a little boring and a little one-note. Zaza adds that Cuban flair that it has been missing. Thank goodness. Since this place opened up, I've been twice. I usually get takeout, so I don't have any beautiful pictures, but even at home, this food is an easy five stars.
I've had two different sandwiches from here so far. The Cubano (Classically prepared with fresh roast pork, deli ham, Swiss cheese, mustard and pickles on toasted Cuban bread), and the Mojo Chicken Breast (Juicy chicken breast seared with onions and topped with provolone cheese and potato stix, served on toasted Cuban bread).
This Cubano is the best one you'll have that not from a standalone, mom 'n' pop Cuban restaurant. I promise you. The flavors are very present from the pork, the ham, and mustard, and the pickles. And the bread is on point. Almost as food as the authentic bread from a po' boy.
And the chicken sandwich, oh my. The seasoning on this thing slaps you in the face, in a good way. Juicy onions, cheesy cheese, and the crunchy stix make this a really nice and fun and delicious sandwich. Big fan.
I've also had two of the Platos, the Vaca Frita (Seared Beef) and the Ropa Vieja (Stewed Beef). Both are very good. A nice, beefy flavor that mixes in very well with the congri. I'm pretty sure they're the exact same meat, just prepared the different ways, so just pick your style. You can't go wrong.
I've only tried four of the sides so far. The Tostones (Fried Green Plantains), the Maduros (Fried Sweet Plantains), the Cuban Toast, and of course the Congri (Black beans and rice cooked together in our Cuban traditions).
Plantains are not my favorite, but I get outvoted a lot. I love carbs, though, so when I'm done eating the food with the Cuban Toast, I'll move on to using the tostone as a cracker of some sort and I'll scoop things up onto it and eat it that way. And the congri is a must. If you order food after reading this, get that...
Read moreMy family and I have become regulars at Zaza Cuban, visiting practically every day, and we absolutely love everything about this place. As former Miami residents, we can honestly say this is the closest thing we’ve found to authentic Cuban cuisine and culture outside of South Florida. The flavors are spot on, the atmosphere feels like home, and every dish transports us right back to the streets of Little Havana.
We have to give special recognition to Nayelis, who has been absolutely wonderful to us from day one. Her warm hospitality and genuine care for every customer truly sets this restaurant apart. She remembers our usual orders, always greets us with a smile, and makes us feel like family every single time we walk through the door.
The food is consistently great, the service is top notch, and the whole experience is excellent. Zaza Cuban has earned our loyalty and our highest recommendation. If you’re craving authentic Cuban food served with heart, this is your place.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking that true Miami Cuban...
Read moreI love Zaza’s so much and their vaca frita white rice and maduros is my comfort food! Only reason i am leaving a review is because i have come in to this location multiples times around 30 minutes before closing and they are always “out of white rice.” Many times I just leave because that helps make the meal for me. It happening so many times to me before, I realize that it isn’t that they are “out”, but that they may have already cleaned that area, put it away, don’t want to make more, etc. so i am leaving this review in hopes the owner can see this! I believe food should be made until closing time. It has been over 5 times i have walked out and not placed an order because of the “no white rice.” I usually come in with my dad or my boyfriend and neither of us will order and leave disappointed. However I would like to point out the employees are always so kind about it and seem to feel bad, but i don’t think the habit they have of not serving some items past a certain time is good....
