TL;DR: Eat here!!! Do not miss this place!!!
We were in town for business and had a craving for Mexican food. We eyed the menu online and Jordy's looked like an acceptable stop. We sat down for lunch and our waiter suggested we go for the buffet. No, thank you. My lunch partner took a look and was convinced; and she hates buffets. Okay, you have my attention.
Chips and salsa came out while we were waiting to agree to the buffet. The green bottle is some kind of roasted jalapeno unlike anything I've had in all my food travels. That green salsa alone is worth stopping here. Pour it on everything! Baptize your children with it! Bathe in it!
That buffet though... All of the salad bar items were bright, fresh, well-stocked, well-monitored. The rotation of entrees changed even during our quick lunch. We had a bite of almost everything, and everything was great. The pico was fresh, bright, well-balanced, which is saying a lot given that tomatoes are out of season. The ground beef was nicely browned and well-seasoned. The lunch buffet would have been a good value at twice the price; for what they charge, I feel like I'm getting away with something. Any of these dishes would have been a good choice off the menu. In a buffet spread, these all combine to be a culinary winning lottery ticket.
Bonus points: attentive, friendly service; good margs; chill, cheery venue; taco salad shells at the taco bar! It's a good thing I don't live in the area, because I would be going here for lunch...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went here today. I’ll be honest, at first we weren’t too sure about it due to the outward appearance. This particular location has had three different restaurants in the past year, so we were a bit sketch. We were in the parking lot and decided to leave but then we decided to come back and give them a chance, and we’re glad we did; their food is excellent! It is all very fresh, hot, and tasty, and authentic. We ordered the seafood burrito, which is honestly a steal at $15 considering the quantity of seafood you get. The birria tacos are simple but the meat has an excellent texture and taste. My girlfriend didn’t care for the thick tortilla chips (most restaurants use thin chips), but they were good.
I will say the overall exterior and interior appearance leaves a bit to be desired, so don’t expect too much on that front. There wasn’t any music while we were eating so we overheard a lot of conversations lol
I was going to dock them one star for the appearance, but in all honesty I would rate this place 10/5 if I could because of the reasoning behind the name of the restaurant: it is named after the owner’s son who passed away seven years ago. Also, Rocky, the owner, is a very genuine and intentional person, and if he didn’t say thank you once he said it a hundred times.
We will definitely go back because it was a good...
Read moreWe at there last week, a day after they had opened for business. We were sorry to see Alfonzos go but Jordys is a very good replacement.
I had a Lengua taco and a Carne Asada (Steak) Hurache. Both were excellent! My wife got the Chicken Fajitas. It came out sizzling hot in a cast iron skillet. The chicken was very flavorful and moist. The beans and rice were very good. My mother in law had the Chicken Enchilada and Pork Tamale combo. She said both were very good along with good beans and rice.
My wife ordered a Horchata. It came out in a huge glass mug big enough for two people. It was one of the best horchata drinks we have ever had. The owner gave us samples of the Tamarindo and Himica (spelled wrong) drinks and were very good. Per the owner they make their own fruit juices which is why they are so good.
They had just steamed some chicken tamales and gave us one to try. It was moist and had a great flavor. I'll get a dozen next time.
We had lived on the west coast were Mexican food is king. This place is very good and would rank up there with the LA places.
Overall the portions are huge, customer service is very friendly and helpful and service was fast.
I would highly recommend...
