I really want to like this place, but they make it so hard. They have discounted options on Sundays, so I was a little perplexed when I ordered takeout and my bill didn’t reflect the discount. So I looked closer at the receipt and found that I had been charged a two dollar take-out fee. Maybe this is normal in other parts of the country, but I’ve never seen it anywhere, and certainly nowhere here in Oxford. They charge two dollars for me to take my food home and eat it there. They charge me two dollars to NOT eat in the restaurant. Ive never seen a restaurant charge their customers for NOT doing something. My order was tossed into a plastic shopping bag, with no utensils, soy sauce, or napkins, so I know this fee doesn’t have anything to do with takeout packaging. I don’t plan to find out why they feel justified taking money from their customers like this. It’s just not worth it. Imagine if Kroger charged you two dollars to take your groceries home. On top of taxes. It’s insane! This is the last time I order from...
Read moreI’m a big fan of the traditional Japanese sushi. Yellowtail, salmon, eel and tofu skin pocket nigiri were ordered thru DoorDash. Overall I agree with most reviewers- the best sushi restaurant nearby for the price range. I will give a solid 4.5/5 based off of all sushi restaurants I tried throughout the States. A few comments: the sumeshi temperature was well controlled - that’s something hard to find in almost all nearby restaurants! The yellowtail was fresh enough, but the salmon was a bit fishy - I was not sure if it was placed near to other seafood so the flavor got mixed or something else. I especially liked the eel as the chef used torch to make the edge crispy and it was well seasoned per se. Tofu skin tasted great, but was a bit oversized. The reason people make nigiri to such a small size is that each piece is only for one bite. I’d suggest shrinking half in size but keeping the total amount. Happy to give another...
Read moreThis was my first time, and we ordered a few things to sample. Great food! We chose to call in our order because the website and online ordering platform didn't have the same prices. I looked at my receipt after dinner and I was charged yet another price for a few things and a "Take Out Fee $1.75". This isn't on their website (or clearly stated), doesn't come up on the online ordering platform, and was never shared when ordering. The lack of transparency and expectation are very concerning outside of the money being taken from customers. If you have an average of 25 takeout orders a day...at $1.75, that's $15,968.75 a year! For what? Me paying for parking, walking in, getting my food, and leaving? Again, the food was really good, but I won't be back anytime soon! Too afraid there's a "booth fee"...
