Our visit to this establishment on Thursday, February 29, 2024, was filled with anticipation. Arriving at 8:15 PM, just before their 9 PM closing time, we were promptly seated. I eagerly ordered a variety of sushi, accompanied by a Hibachi (filet, shrimp, and scallops) dinner to go. My husband, equally excited, opted for the Hibachi (filet, lobster, and scallops). The preparation of my sushi order took a bit longer, but the staff's unhurried approach allowed us to enjoy the experience fully.

My husband started with the jalapeño poppers, to which he quickly declared, “I love this place!” I had two starters: the yellowtail Jalapeño and the Tuna Tartare. I was disappointed in the tuna. It was missing a big something. The Yellowtail was delicious, but the jalapeños needed more heat. These had no heat.

Our culinary adventure was a success. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his hibachi dinner, and I was delighted with my sushi selection. The Volcano Roll and the salmon and white tuna (escolar) in both nigiri and sashimi form were all a treat for the taste buds.

I only took off one star for the food because my husband got sick a couple of hours after we got home. He vomited six or seven times. And there was nothing else we could pin it to. So I was afraid to eat my hibachi dinner. We cannot say whether it was his food, so I only took off one star. But we can’t think of what else it could have been. Will we go back? Of course! If it happens again, then NO!

UPDATE: May 22, 2024

We decided to give Blue Fin another try. We arrived for a late lunch, this time around 2:00 PM. We weren't the only ones eating late that day because the place was hopping.

My husband opted for the Hibachi Filet and Shrimp dinner, which he was just as pleased with as his last Hibachi dinner.

Again, I chose all sushi. I decided to give the Tuna Tartare another try. They had changed it, and I was even more disappointed than before. The tuna wasn't just chopped; it was more than minced, almost as if they had put it into a food processor. It had absolutely no flavor. There was neither a quail egg nor spicy tuna this time, but the menu still says there is. I only took about three bites.

I had to have the Yellowtail Jalepeño again. Yummy! It was also different but still as delicious. You can see the differences in the tartare and the yellowtail in the pictures from before and now. The ponzu sauce is the perfect mix of citrus and soy. This time, I knew to order extra jalepeño!

I also tried the Naruto Maki, which also had a lot of flavor missing. They had accidentally sent us two of the Yellowtail, so I poured the ponzu from it onto the Naruto Maki, and that helped.

I had to have my usual go-to Salmon and Escolar (white tuna) Sashimi. I always save the best for last! The Escolar is so silky and buttery that it makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

And for the big question, no! My husband did not get sick this time! We will most definitely be back. I must ask the server for their recommendation for the most flavorful sushi dishes. I also have my eyes on several rolls I...

First off we were seated immediately upon arrival which was nice. The place itself was very nice and comfortable on the inside. That’s about as good as it got for us. I am not one to leave bad reviews for places because I understand places and people can have a bad night but the way our night went I’d prefer not to come back. We waited probably 20 minutes to even get a drink order. Then another 15 min probably to actually get the drinks. After another wait our cook came to the table. Let me also say that we saw MANY tables having to wait long periods of time to be waited on The chef realized that my salmon I ordered was not included so he asked for it to be brought out. They brought out frozen pieces of salmon to cook on the grill which of course had to be cooked forever to even cook all the way. By the time I got it, it was all just a bunch of jumbled up pieces and was not good. The other people seated at our table did not receive their sushi order until the chef was cleaning up the grill from cooking. We never had the waiter come back and ask if we needed anything or needed any refills. We then realize after our meal that none of us received the soup or salad that comes with the meal. It was brought to the waiters attention and he asked if we wanted it now and one of the ladies said no we’ve already finished this food. There was no need to. All he did was say sorry I had a bunch of other tables and people to take care of. There was no offer to discount any of our tickets for not receiving our full dinner. I completely understand when places are new and have a busy night some things can happen but things like completely forgetting something that comes with every meal, never coming to check on us and the fact the chef had no issue with trying to cook frozen solid fish is what bothers me. They were giving everyone discounts to come back but I honestly doubt we will go back. I be placed a photo of my salmon for reference. It ended up being more of a tough...

We took 16 people for dinner for my Son and Daughters birthday...Was seated relatively quickly and drink orders put in. A few of the orders were mixed up. Was giving food orders to a waitress thst was VERY RUDE and short with everyone....she HUSHED my daughter and myself because we were trying to tell her we had 1 that didn't get his order taken. The soup had NO Flavor at all until we added soy sauce... Our Chef had ZERO personality! My order was original $23.00 for the Chicken and Shrimp...I got rice and Steak! Then I noticed he was cleaning off the grill! I told him I did not order steak...the waitress went to get more more shrimp and chicken to cook as he firmly set a bowl down and told me to pick out the steak off my plate which was on top of my rice also, and put it in the bowl! My $23.00 dinner became 30 without even an apology. Between 4 at the table....he was given a $70.00 tip. Food did not have much flavor. Not long after we got there one of our guests went to tell them we had 2 birthdays and could they do something. He was told to let the Chef know. Chef was notified... Clean up came....we asked the waitress AGAIN about the birthdays! She says....tell Chef! Who was gone by then....told her he was notified....she shrugged her shoulders....and said No Birthday NO dessert! Over a $500.00 bill and them adding their own gratuity which really teed some of them off that added up to ABOTHER $100.00 PLUS! I WOULD have thought they could of decorated a dang cracker and took it out! The rudeness The mix ups The price is NOT worth the cost! If you wish to pay for the beauty of sushi dishes only or the atmosphere....enjoy. But that's all you get. 16 of us will be sharing with at LEAST 16 of our friends and probably more. For us.....Fuji or yume has personality Correct orders And...

Came to visit Cheaha State Park and go camping and wasn't able to get a spot in the campground. I have never been so happy to not get to do something I wanted to do, because on our way home we stopped at Bluefin. Everything about this place is just so inviting: the decor is tasteful, the smells are appetizing, they aren't blasting music so loud that you can't hear your dinner partner speak. It was a truly enjoyable experience to eat a meal here. We had quite a selection of food: shrimp gyoza, cheese dumplings, harumaki (spring roll), rainbow roll, fried rice, and fillet and scallop hibachi. Everything was generously portioned and absolutely delicious. The meats were tender and juicy, the fried items well filled and perfectly cooked. The sauces were the best I've ever had at any hibachi or sushi place. The food and atmosphere may be top notch, but the real crowning glory of this place is the service. From the hostess to the people bussing tables, everyone here was amazingly kind and friendly. It was almost like stepping into another world. Our server, Sarah, is hands down one of the best servers I have ever come across. She was very patient, very willing to please, and had a very ready smile. Honestly the food could have been subpar and I would still come back just to have her as my server again. I live quite a ways away from here, two hours in fact, but I will definitely be returning in the near future for another meal at Bluefin. I really hope this place never changes.
