I’m usually not one to leave a review but I think I need to share my experience at the Oxford exchange Hobby lobby. I was in there today about 1030 this morning picking up some fabric glue to help my daughter make her senior jeans. I usually enjoy Hobby lobby. I like to just walk around look at things but today I had a much different experience so I went in and I went and I was looking the fake plants for a another project that I’m thinking about starting and then I headed over to fabric immediately I start hearing over the loudspeaker whispering about where I’m at in the store. I ended up having multiple people follow me around every department I went to there was something over the loudspeaker about the department. I understand people shoplift and of course that’s a horrible thing and I have no problem being watched, but it was embarrassing today because other shoppers could tell that I was being watched And it’s humiliating. I don’t even carry a purse. I carry my keys and my cell phone. That’s it when I go in the store. This just completely turned me off to ever going back and I’m disgusted and quite frankly insulted. I feel like I was judged by the way I look or maybe I wasn’t dressed nice enough. that they assume that I was going in there to steal. So this is my experience I wanted to share with other people in and around Oxford, Alabama because I can promise you I will never go back. I will next time go to Michael’s across the street because I’ve never been treated like that in any stores that I’ve went into. so do better...
Read moreI went to this location today to buy fabric. The seamstress was clearly in a very surly mood the entire time I looked at different patterns. She seemed annoyed that it was taking me so long to get my selections cut. When I was finally ready, she measured out 3 yards (as the pattern called for, but I immediately realized was too much), and as I told her I didn’t need that much, she began cutting the fabric and didn’t stop. My mom felt so intimated that she almost purchased the extra material, even though I’d told her it was the wrong amount before she had begun. I calmly told the woman at the cutting table (her name is Deborah) that we didn’t need that much, but I felt intimidated by her behavior. She wadded the fabric up and threw it and said “I’m intimidated by you!” Truly a bizarre, unprofessional experience. When I told the manager, he said “we’ve never had a problem with Deborah (he seemed angry),” and his solution was that I should confront Deborah about her behavior with him. I told him that seems like a really inappropriate position to put a customer in. Joannes is the same price and has better coupons anyway, so I...
Read moreMy one star vote is for the unprofessional manager... I love Hobby Lobby. I highly support and spend lots of money there! I don't live in the area, but today while I was shopping, I could hear the manager talking down to an employee (from a good distance away if that tells you how loud it was) and I was very disappointed. It was very tacky, disrespectful, and unprofessional. He continued to make this person feel embarrassed by saying "have you never done this before!?" "No, you don't remember!?" You're going to have to do it all again!" Yes, practically yelling. I was shocked. I give credit to the poor lady that didn't walk out right then and there. Word of advice to leadership and management, encourage your workers. You set the tone. While you are chewing someone else out (in front of customers) you're showing your own lack of ability. Lead with kindness...
