have not been in a few years (pre covid) decor and vide is a turnoff for this old fan the grunge punk day of the dead thing is not for me. but that's personal if food was good. it was not.
I ordered chilI omelette. and Mrs O potatoes. My go to when we used to go regularly. positive : a lot of food. negative: lazy prep the potatoes are such big chunks they end up not properly seasoned, yes the outside is seasoned but the 2 inches of potato inside is not. I love chili of all kinds, and theirs used to be good. Good chili should have some cumin but it should not be the only flavor. so overdone that it was the only flavor, I like cumin, I use cumin, but this was bad. I only ate about 1/3 of the meal, took it home to eat later. what I tried to eat it later I started finding eggshells in my omelette and I don't mean 1 small piece I'm talking at least an inch wide. at this point it didn't matter we had already decided not to return.
wife and mother's meal: ordered chili verde omelette, pro : a lot of food, pork was moist and flavorful negative: lazy prep pork cut huge like th potatoes so big that even my oversized mouth needed to cut them down. not a big deal by itself but. chili verde should be green it uses tomatillos there was no tomatillo within a mile of this sauce. the plate was floating in clear liquid no seeds no tomatillo. juice soaked into wife's hash browns which made badly cooked into non edible. and the toast also soaked in the juice. last note on hash browns undercooked on bottom over cooked on top, swimming in pork juice and greasy.
sadly we will not be back, I wish them luck but at $80 for 3 people its not worthy of another try
11 am restrooms reek of stale urine clearly not cleaning, check out the filthy light switches, gaps between the epoxy on tables and wood edges is filled with god knows what. Also not a fan of the circling flies and birds indoors because they insist on leaving the doors open( but they are trying for...
Read moreDisappointed in so many aspects of this place I honestly don't know where to start. Also I have been here twice so this is not just a one time occurrence. Let's start with the service. If you go here expect to not know who your server is. Seriously. You will have a new person each time someone comes to your table. Literally someone will arrive to take your drink order, then someone new for your food order, then someone new to drop off that drink order, then someone different to drop off the food, and then a random person checks in on you, to a completely new person to refill your coffees to now even a completely different person that drops off the bill. Due to all of these different touch points you need to expect to have issues with your bill as I did the 2 times I came here. Oh... and do not expect these issues to be resolved quickly as clearly no one knows what is going on. The first time we waited over 15 min for the bill and this is after asking for it. There was some confusion with all of the touch points and apparently out bill was provided to another table which had paid it. The second time our food that was delivered was incorrect and of course there was no one to talk to until the bill arrived as the person did check in on us could only refill coffee. Next, let's talk about the food. To start the hash is not homemade... huge fault in my book. If you are going to be a mom and pop restaurant or family owned business and you are taking short cuts the quality will never be there. The Eggs Florentine and Benedicts were good and the hollandaise sauce was from a bag or prepackaged but was better than the hash. The Mexican veggie omelette was fresh and unexpected for this place. The Bloody Mary however was terrible and could not even be enjoyed or much less consumed. Not too impressed with this restaurant and would suggest going elsewhere for...
Read moreStay away from Mrs. Olsen’s. The hostesses do not know what they are doing. We were told 40 minutes for a table. It took over an hour. We twice asked politely about our place in line and were told we were next. After we were told we were next, three parties of similar size were called.
When we finally got a table our drink order was taken immediately, but we did not see our waitress for over ten minutes. When she finally came around to take our order she was ignorant about the ingredients of the dishes and refused to answer any questions about their ingredients. My daughter has Celiacs and will be in terrible pain if she has Gluten. When my daughter did pick something that was probably gluten free the waitress tried to cya by asking her to agree that the dish was acceptable to her.
Once we ordered food it took 40 minutes for the first dish to hit the table. That’s 2 hours after we first asked for table.
This place is understaffed with incompetent personnel. They made it very clear that they DO NOT CARE about anyone’s food allergies or providing anything like quality service. If you like restaurants that treat customers like they don’t matter and have no concern for the well being of their patrons, Mrs. Olsen’s is the place for you. Avoid this restaurant like the...
