I have been here before a few years back, but I surely do not remember having such bad service or I would have never returned. We went to the gaylord to see ICE and thought this place would be good to satisfy both the adults and kids. The children are not picky eaters, most kids menu will give them something that will fill them up. We thought we were set...... but everything went downhill from the moment we walked up to the podium. it says wait for a host to seat you which was not a problem since we had a party of four and there were only three tables being used in the entire restaurant. however everyone serving kept walking by looking at us noticing there was no host/hostess to seat us. We stood there until one server told another to go check on us since they had all passed us several times. He walked over and said "can I help you?". "YES we'd like to be seated" (in our head) we are saying is this really a question; lets leave now. however he walked away leaving us with "OK, let me ask" to tell another associate that we wanted to sit. The guy says "so seat them" after being told we couldnt sit In a window seat cause they were all reserved but only two had reserved signs on they we sat and were given the menus. The children's menu you can barely read and has only one thing that is truly child appropriate. The server came and gave us an announcement of there are no fries in the house sorry. Then brought us water -got that order wrong. We put our food order in and then 7 minutes later a family of 4 with two small children just sat where we asked to be seated. no one sat them there just sat down. someone who seemed like the manager assisted them gave them menus and gave the kids crayons for ther entertainment. I was asking for a straw from several people, then finally as hostess shows us with a large party seated behind us. I ask her for a straw and crayons. the manager comes and gives both. He does pretty decent service recovery even though i didn't say anything the entire time. i think he just noticed people ignoring us. The food was ok, I had cream of crab soup it was missing something but overall good. The kids hamburger came with burnt bacon to the point where my God daughter said it tasted bad and took it off. myh daughter had to get a special order of mac and cheese without the lobster because they didn't have anything else kid friendly. she liked it but she loves mac and cheese so I can't say anything bad about it. overall I write all this to say the service made my experience more unpleasant than any bad food could have. please pay attention to your customers and adjust your childrens menu. I dont know to many kids at 6 or 10 eating a kids filet mignon, a Cobb salad, or deconstructed ceaser salad. Wont...
Read moreWe went for brunch to celebrate my friends’s bday. Although it was nearly empty in there at 12pm on a Sunday afternoon, the hostess and server seemed to not know where to sit us….it was very odd…so after waiting for 15 mins to be seated (although we made reservations) we were finally seated and greeted by our server in a timely manner.
We ordered soups, appetizer and main entrees. The crab soup was very runny with very little crab in it. Our meals arrived…however our appetizers never did. We were fine with skipping it at that point and asked the server to please just remove it from the bill as we are eating our main meals now. He insisted it was still coming out and they were making it…we explained to him again that the appetizer should generally come out before our main meals so at this point we didn’t want it. He seemed annoyed by that, versus being apologetic, which was also odd to me.
Finally, when I cut into my steak, I ordered the steak and eggs, the steak was cooked medium well, I ordered a medium steak. I could normally just deal, but this steak was really almost well done, with just a tinge of light pink in the middle. I explained to our waiter that the steak was over cooked, he agreed and then proceeded to tell me that unfortunately the cooks tend to “overcook” the steaks instead of actually cooking to the temperature you ask. So he said he I’ll have them remake my steak, and he made sure to tell me that he would ask them to make it “medium-rare” so that it would come out at least medium. Which again to me is so odd. He brought out a new steak and this time, it was cooked to well done…I kindly returned the meal and just asked for our check so we could leave. The waiter comes back and makes it a point to tell me he removed the steak and eggs (which I did not eat and returned) as well as the crab dip appetizer (which we never received) and acted like I should be thankful. I reminded him that he rightfully remove two items we never consumed off of our check, I was annoyed, hungry and ready to go at that time. I asked for a manager, who never came to our table and we paid and left.
Needless to say, the birthday brunch was not great, and this was our first and LAST time coming to Sauciety at the Westin. I was very surprised by the poor service and food quality because the only reason we chose this restaurant was due to the food reviews we read. The only thing nice about this establishment is the location and the views. Might I add, this is the first review I’ve ever written for any...
Read moreWanted to try this place for a while. Tried to eat brunch last year during my trip to national harbor but was turned away since I didn’t have a reservation. Made a reservation this time. We were seated with a decent view of the harbor. But things went downhill from there. Ordered the Benedict with crab cakes and my husband ordered French toast. His French toast was good. My food came out cold; there wasn’t a warm element on the plate (the potatoes, crab cakes, egg, and hollandaise sauce were all cold and the egg was flavorless). A gentleman came over to check on us and we informed him the food was cold and it was taken away without an apology or other question. No one followed up. My husband finished his food, his plate was bussed, and then the waitress brought our check. She hasn’t even realized my food was taken after only two bites. She went to check on the food; another plate was finally brought. The crab cake this time was moderately warm (the potatoes were still cold). One of the poached eggs had a bit of runny yoke in the middle, the other one was cooked through solid. I ate about a 1/3 of it since I was pretty hungry at that point but the flavor was pretty bland overall (I will say the crab cake had some decent flavor with little filler). They then brought the check back while I was still eating. After giving the waitress our credit card (could probably see we weren’t overly pleased) she said she would take 20% off our bill. Not...
