I'm not too familiar with the area..it's our first time there. We accidentally stumbled upon it after a long day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It's about 1-2 miles from the aquarium.
There are designated parking lots (just watch out for the signs) that allow 2 hour parking daily including weekends. We went on a weekend so there was a lot of people there...so parking was a bit hard. Overall, the place was clean and the scene was very...oceanic (if that's a word..lol).
There's a small Beach area with soft sand for the kids. The water isn't too clean but not dirty by any means. Although we were hot at the parking lot, somehow just sitting on a towel on the sand watching the kids cooled us down a lot & we actually felt cold after 30 or so minutes. The breeze was quite welcoming.
All around us there were lots of people playing volleyball, walking, biking, taking pictures, etc. Everyone we spoke to were nice. We even chatted with a local couple while on the beach.
The most annoying thing, I swear at all beaches, were them damn Seagulls. They were everywhere...but mostly near us because some rude couple & kids (tourists I bet) left a bag of fast food with a bunch of fries inside in the corner and once one seagull saw it...GAME OVER! Suddenly a flock of annoying, pooping, huge seagulls were fighting and flying everywhere....did I forget to say "pooping" too. A family next to us got bombed with poo. Yuck!
Overall, it's a great place to relax until sun goes down. One of the more cleaner beaches even with lots of...
Read moreThis beach is a long standing favorite among local children, and parents. Blocked cove offers shallow swimming, with a great partial view of the bay. It is also a local starting point for beginning scuba divers. This is one of the safer places to enjoy monterey bay waters without taking on the full brunt of the harsh ocean here. There is a small snack shack, a public rest room, and a kiddie-pool open in the warmer months. Be warned, the water here in the bay is cold, and outside of the Lover's Point Cove, and/or one or two other mellow locations, the water here is not for swimming. And as with most beaches here in Monterey, there is NO lifeguard on duty. This area is conflicted, as right around the corner, Lover's Point Park sits unprotected from the waves and wind. Check for local Beach, Surf and Wind Warnings if you are unfamiliar with the ocean conditions of this area because the sea here is not what you typically picture when day dreaming about the warm...
Read moreI visited recently, and the views were absolutely breathtaking — crystal-clear turquoise waters, smooth rocks, and a peaceful vibe that makes it the perfect escape. The small cove is ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, or just relaxing by the shore. There's a beautiful grassy area with picnic tables where families and couples can enjoy lunch with ocean views. The unique, tall trees and the gentle breeze added a magical charm to the place. The beach was lively but not overcrowded, and the water was surprisingly calm. It’s also a great spot to watch sea birds and take scenic photos. You can walk along the rocky paths or just soak in the coastal beauty. This place is romantic, serene, and perfect for a peaceful weekend getaway. Highly recommend visiting Lover's Point if you're in Monterey — it's a place you’ll want to...
