As much as we enjoyed the service, the space and the conch appetizer, the main course let us down in the most unhealthy way. My husband ordered fish, salad and Cool'A loaded baked potato. Thankfully I opted for rice and string beans. The fish looked rubbery and old, the salad was over dressed and not rinsed thoroughly, and, the highly touted over the top baked potato, had many potentially spoiled ingredients. The combination of spoiled ingredients and fish that had likely not been fresh, gave my husband a severe case of food poisoning. He was violently ill for over 24hrs! As a concerned consumer, I called the restaurant to let them know. I spoke with the manager on duty, I believe his name was Steve. Although kind, he didn't seem very interested. I made it clear, I wasn't calling for a refund. I wanted them to know about the possibility of spoiled ingredients that caused the food poisoning. Sadly, other diners may have experienced something similar. It only takes one bad ingredient. The manager then mentioned he would share the information with the GM later that same evening. He stated, "you should expect a call within 24hrs". Sadly, the promised calls from the restaurants GM never happened. Not likely we will return to this restaurant or, recommend it. This unfortunate food experience could have been forgiven. A simple acknowledgment from the GM would have made a difference. It made us wonder how many complaints the restaurant has had about the spoiled food that may not have been shared with a review. It only takes a few minutes to listen and, show some compassion when a diner takes the time to share an uncomfortable experience. Train your staff to be kind and thoughtful, good customer service goes along way with most consumers. Maybe next time your GM will take the time to pick up the phone and ask about your experience! Most Chefs want to know too. Just...
Read moreWe have been coming here for years since its opening that’s how long. It was a special birthday and my mother wanted to take me to our special restaurant with our favorites . Unfortunately, the prices have doubled , not knowing how expensive the menu had increased . We were both shocked by the once $24 macadamia nut crusted snapper platter was now $42. Seeing the prices of the menu I would have walked out but I didn’t want to embarrass my mother . That’s not just the “cost of fish” went up that’s straight up price gouging and another place pushing long time locals out. The fish was thinly sliced, raw on the inside , the coconut rice was very dry and plain and the augratin was oily. It was my birthday so no freebie dessert or even offered unfortunately. I see the regulars who go there and I was a person who has dined there quite a few times over the years but sadly that will be the last time and I’m spreading the word . There is no ambience and I don’t think they have changed the decor at all after so many years and is outdated . Disappointing Birthday dinner to say the least . For those kind of prices they need to renovate. I’m surprised it’s still open considering the empty spaces in the plaza and chain businesses . No longer a favorite don’t waste your money !! Change price shock...
Read moreIt was an amazing, perfect experience. From the minute we walked in the door, we felt so welcomed. The atmosphere is so beautiful, so pleasant, just perfect. Vince, the manager walked us to a very lovely booth. Great atmosphere - quiet enough to have wonderful conversation, but yet lively enough that you know you are out and about with others and having lots of fun. Cocktails were generous and very tasty. We started with a large order of the conch fritter appetizer which was the perfect amount for the three of us. I had the maple crusted salmon with a side of asparagus and their extremely tasty coleslaw. My boyfriend had the house special which was a delicious Covina that night. He loved it. Our cousin ordered the steak tidbits with the coconut shrimp. She devoured as much as she could, and still had enough to take home. Portions are very generous. It was just so perfect. We were made to feel so comfortable and it was just such an enjoyable, lovely evening and an enjoyable lovely meal. I couldn’t ask for anything nicer than Cool’a Fish Bar. Vince, the manager sure knows how to run a spectacular restaurant. Of all the restaurants in South Florida, I think Cool’a Fish Bar is my very, very favorite. Thank you so much for a delightful evening! A+++ Sent...
