Slightly, on the out dated side-depending on your perspective of what’s old and what’s new -Rick’s restaurant reminds me a little on a the old school type of diner. It’s clean, small, short ceilings, windows at each booth, comfy zand not so modern technology looking. I felt welcomed and warmth as I walked into the lobby.
We were immediately greeted by the hostess and were seated at a booth (with a window), as I requested. Our server, Claudia, had greeted us. Gave us time to look at the menu. I just had to get off the mind set that we weren’t at Denny with the 55+ senior meal deals.
As I skimmed through the menu, I noticed a variety of prices and food selection. A good thing. Just could not figure out if it was breakfast or lunch that I craved for. And so it was, the “Petite” breakfast. To add, a Bloody Mary for starters. My partner and I both order the same dish.
There was nothing to highlight about our breakfast plate, it was basic. However, it good and perfect enough for what we wanted to eat that morning. Everything was consumed but the Bloody Mary. Let’s put that on pause for now. I would like to mention that the wheat bread I had was soft, plump and delicious. Not sure why, but it was just bread. Bread is bread.
Ok, now for the Bloody Mary. It looked good but after adding several spikes to the drink, the spice was unbearable. What my partner failed to do was taste the drink prior to added Tabasco. Amateur move, I say. She added ice and took the drink to go hoping that the ice would dilute the hot and spicy taste. The drink was gone, meaning disposed in the trash. No bueno anymore. Too bad because I know it was definitely a cocktail she looked forward to drinking. Our server was told but we didn’t expect a replacement
Our server, Claudia, was above and beyond. She was friendly, helpful, personable, checked in with us multiple times and was always smiles. I felt good energy and positivity from her. Good vibes all around, including staff that were on shift that morning.
Give Rick’s restaurant a try. You...
Read moreThe food was fine but the waitress rushed us to leave even while two other tables were not even finished eating. We asked for the check just to get a head start on checking out while I finished my food and coffee and the waitress kept coming back multiple times asking if we had paid yet. She even lingered nearby and I literally had to ask her for some space, which she didn’t give us. She instead pretended to be excited about a lizard nearby and cooed at it while staying near our table, then asked us again if we were ready to pay. I’ve had waiters tell me politely that their shift is ending and they need to close out all their tables, which is totally understandable, but she just vaguely said “she’s waiting for me” as if there was some staff inside that we were holding up, which made no sense. I’ve worked in restaurants before and it’s not like there’s some sort of time limit between a check being rung up and when it’s paid. After we told her for the third or fourth time that no we haven’t paid yet, she passively aggressively said “well you asked for the check.” Again, asking for the check doesn’t mean we must pay out within a specified time. Earlier another waitress also took our condiments from our table and brought it to another without asking us, even though we weren’t done. Overall we were made to feel like we better hurry up, pay and get the hell out through passive aggressive smiles while we were being harassed to pay. I’ve never experienced anything like it and definitely felt singled out because the other two tables that were way further behind us in checking out were left alone. The staff here needs to...
