Wow! What a surprise this place was! I chose this restaurant for a date night and was not at all disappointed. Certainly casual and not much to say about the atmosphere, but we were more concerned about good eats. I started with a Thai iced tea and it was a very rich tea and not overloaded with sweetened milk. It's way better than I've had at other places. My entree was the beef and brisket Pho and they happily served the beef rare on the side as requested. By far the best Pho I have had in years and I am very well traveled. The ratio of broth to noodles was perfect and the broth was rich and flavorful. I have never before had such a hearty serving of meat with my Pho! My date had Pad Thai with shrimp, and it was phenomenal. The only thing that could have made it better would be presentation as it was just piled on a platter. That said, the portions were huge, and we both ended up bringing home leftovers and having a whole meal the next day. I would definitely recommend this place, and I will be back. Good food is rare in these parts!
My recommendation to the restaurant? Put up some decorations and take some time to make the plates more presentable. Twirl up your noodles, proteins on top, and hit it with some chopped basil. A little love goes a long way. Thanks...
Read moreThis place used to be our favorite restaurant in Palmer - even in the whole valley. New owners took over in May 2022 and sadly the quality has gone way down. I do appreciate that the food is ready quickly (take-out) and it stays piping hot the whole way home. Also, the staff is friendly. But the green curry is now watery and bland, the egg rolls are much smaller with less filling and more wrapper (but the delicious dipping sauce is the same!) and the noodles aren’t at all what they once were. We got take-out a few days ago- my husband ordered his usual, Pad See Ew and I got my fav Drunken Noodles. We asked for spice level 2 on a scale of 1-5 and both of our dishes were extremely spicy. In fact, that’s all they tasted like, just pure heat and nothing else. The noodles were very very dry, none of the delicious sauce we used to love so much. For over $41 for two noodle dishes and an order of egg rolls, it wasn’t worth it. I love local businesses and I’m sure these folks are doing the best they can but it’s a shame that things have changed. I don’t think we’ll be going back...
Read moreThis was my previous review: "I will not buy pho anywhere else in the valley. It is so good, authentic cuisine. The owners are super nice and it's just what you want. Yummy comfort food."
I have altered my opinion since the remodel/remarketing of this restaurant. I used to think that this was the best pho you could get in town. I have changed that stance. The pho is okay now, but certainly not what it was. I'm not quite sure if they changed the recipe/changed cooks, but it does not have the quintessential flavor anymore. It's more of a brown stew than your clear broth pho. Again, it is not bad but it is not pho.
On top of that, the price has also increased by about $6. You used to get a bowl for $14 and now it's $20. I would be more inclined to pay more if the flavor was still there,...
