We like to come out to this restaurant from time to time and on special occasions, but after our experience a few days ago I am not sure that that will be happening again. On that day, we wanted to try out the outdoor seating area, so I called in advance to make a reservation for outside hoping that the table would be ready upon arrival. Once at the restaurant, the staff had us wait for at least ten minutes to be seated and then eventually directed us to sit at a table that was clearly dirty from tree residue, and nobody came to at least wipe it down. I would not have minded wiping off the leaves and tree residue myself with a napkin, but when I saw another party be seated outside after us and quickly had their table wiped down I knew that something was wrong. After ordering and receiving our food, we proceeded to serve ourselves only to realize that our server had brought out the wrong dish which contained meat, so we could not eat it. That alone was not the problem because that mistake could have been easily fixed, what bothered me is that our server was told by another male server with a mustache that we were eating the food regardless just because food had been served on the plates, which was not true. Either way, our server eventually brought out the right dish and we ate it. It is important to note that throughout the experience, we noticed that the party that was seated after us was being checked on much more frequently than ours and that every time we tried calling the same man with the black mustache over to assist us with the bread, he would display some annoyance towards our requests and once made a comment under his breath that we could not clearly hear.
I want management to know that I am writing this review out of pure disappointment given that we frequently come out from a different town to enjoy the food here. I believe that this attitude and treatment by staff towards customers that we experienced that day is nothing short of inappropriate and I truly hope that something is promptly done to ensure that paying customers sitting outside get equal and...
Read moreToday is my moms 67th and last birthday as she was diagnosed with a terminal illness. A couple weeks ago some friends recommended buca di beppo for our family of 7 to order/pickup/take home to celebrate with my mom. All week my mom was excited to have a good meal from a place she's never eaten (she is a huge Italian fan and even worked at a family owned Italian restaurant for 20years) and celebrate her birthday with us. Since I've never been there I called earlier today to ask about dishes and how many people each dish serves. I also asked about the family of 5 special and what that entails. The woman who answered the phone got VERY annoyed with me and couldn't tell me what came in the family meal or how many people the main course dishes would feed. Suddenly without warning I was put on hold. A short time later a man picked up the phone to clarify what I was asking. He did tell me that each entree would feed 5. I then asked how many mozzarella sticks came in an order. He said they didn't have such a thing. I responded that I was currently looking at the online menu and see them on the menu. He snapped back saying "that's fried mozzarella, it's not called mozzarella sticks" in an annoyed voice. So then I asked how many pieces came in an order to which he said he didn't know and if I wanted to place an order I needed to go online and hung up. Since I was obviously irritating the staff and couldn't get an answer to how many orders of dishes I should purchase to feed 7 I decided to just order elsewhere for tonight's meal. My mom understands why I made that choice but was still disappointed as she was really looking forward to a new place and the online pictures of food looked really good. I didn't want to risk not ordering enough food or spending several hundred dollars over ordering because the restaurant couldn't tell me the quantity of menu items. Plus the fact that not one but two staff members were annoyed and short with me. I was very polite and didn't ask a whole lot. Their food might be great but I won't be going due to the service. Very...
Read moreMy all-time favorite restaurant!!! I went to the San Francisco location many years ago before it sadly closed down. I went to this location in Palo Alto for my birthday back in March. It was an okay experience, but I still wanted to give this place another try. Let me tell you, I was completely blown away by the waiter's FANTASTIC service. Dewann was not only kind and courteous, he was also attentive, positive, warm-hearted, and overall cheerful. I can tell he was HAPPY to serve not only at my table, but every other table he served as well. I've never received such exquisite hospitality before in my life. The bread basket tasted amazing because of the way he presented it along with the way he served the olive oil, vinaigrette, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. It looks messy in the picture I took because I already started digging in. But seriously, he served it with such perfection that I ended up smiling for the rest of my stay. The food was really good, but it was all about the presentation from Dewann that left me absolutely satisfied. To the manager of this location: Please give Dewann some kind of special recognition, a raise, and even a promotion. He really does deserve it! THANK YOU Dewann for making me feel at home with your service. I look forward to returning to this wonderful...
