This morning around 7AM I took my kids to "Thomas' Donut and Snack Shop" and also "A'More Donuts".
Short version: both places were great early in the morning, but the experience and donuts were both better at Thomas'.
Longer version: I got cinnamon buns and key lime pie donuts at both places. Both were good at both places; no complaints. The white key lime pie at Thomas' was more subtle but really delicious and then donut itself was also better to my taste. My wife liked the key lime green jelly from A'More but agreed with me that the cake of the dough was better from Thomas'.
I got several donuts from Thomas' and the key lime and long john were my favorites. I even tried with specialty chocolate maple bacon, but I wasn't to big of a fan of that particular pastry.
The service at Thoms' was outstanding. The young man working the counter was genuinely friendly and took ownership of all he did. Rather than making excuses about the specialty donuts not being done, he went and finish up one for me in the back. He also was kindhearted to the old gentlemen whom I presume were regulars.
The service at A'Mores was more in line with that you'd expect from a minimum wage earner at McDonald's. The young gentlemen wasn't rude, but kept trying to get down to brass tacks, trying to get me to commit to a dozen or half dozen when I told him twice I didn't plan to get that many. It may honestly have also been an language barrier as he figured out my meaning when I chit-chatted with him after the purchase, but I often had to repeat things a different way. So again, a very friendly guy, but still needs practice in the...
Read moreIf you’re looking for donut perfection, Amore Donuts absolutely delivers. The moment you walk in, the warm, sweet aroma of freshly baked dough hits you — the kind that instantly makes your mouth water and your mood lift. The display case is a work of art itself, filled with rows of golden, fluffy donuts that look almost too perfect to eat. But trust me, you’ll want to.
Each donut is soft, pillowy, and melts in your mouth with every bite. You can tell they’re made fresh, not mass-produced — there’s this delicate crispness on the outside and a perfectly airy texture inside. The glazes shine just right, never overly sticky or artificial-tasting. Their classic glazed donut is the kind of simple perfection that proves less is more — sweet, smooth, and buttery with the perfect balance of flavor.
But Amore Donuts doesn’t stop at the basics. Their specialty flavors are next-level — the maple bacon hits that ideal mix of sweet and savory, and the strawberry frosted with sprinkles tastes like nostalgia done right. Every bite feels thoughtfully crafted, like the bakers genuinely care about getting it perfect every single time.
Pair one with their freshly brewed coffee or a cold chocolate milk, and it’s the kind of breakfast (or let’s be honest, anytime snack) that makes your whole day better.
Amore Donuts isn’t just a place to grab something sweet — it’s a little moment of happiness wrapped in sugar and dough. Everything about it feels homemade, heartfelt, and downright delicious. If perfection had a flavor, it would taste like an...
Read moreThe donuts are AMAZING!!!! I haven't eaten an Apple Fritter in years. These were soft enough to eat and enjoy. Full of apple pieces. DELICIOUS!!!!!
The biscuits and gravy were very tasty. They serve the biscuit in a wrapper and gravy in its own container. I liked that. The biscuit by itself was very soft. Not excessive with butter or salt. A HUGE win.
I ordered a coffee. They have three pump creamers and then different little creamers, too. The coffee has a perfect consistency for flavor. Was not too strong or been sitting long.
They have 1 handicap space for parking. There is a ramp to the front doors. To go inside, you have to go over a bit of a lip.
Lots of space to sit. Round tables, square tables, and rectangle tables. Metal with wood top look. Enough room to move a wheelchair around inside. Very convenient!!!
With the big bay windows, it was a relaxing time spent enjoying breakfast. The crib faces the Gulf. Right now, without anything built across the street, you have pretty views. Very pleasant.
Bathrooms are outside, according to a sign on the exterior of the building. You need a key. There's one shared bathroom. Big open space. Way around the exterior of building
The person serving is very nice and professional. I would definitely recommend this establishment, donut house, cafe, or breakfast nook...
